NSU will host World Youth Skills Day 2025 celebration

ISLAMABAD, Jul 14 (APP):The National Skills University Islamabad will join the rest of the world in celebrating World Youth Skills Day 2025, with a special focus on “Youth Empowerment through AI and Digital Skills.”
According to the NSU, Ms. Wajia Qamar, Minister of State, Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training, will be the Chief Guest for this high-profile national event.
She will give the keynote address and participate in a symbolic walk highlighting the power of Artificial Intelligence and digital skills to transform lives.
This event signifies an important milestone for the university and Pakistan’s broader goal of preparing its youth for a digitally driven future.

IRSA releases 277,424 cusecs water

ISLAMABAD, Jul 14 (APP):Indus River System Authority (IRSA) on Monday released 277,424 cusecs water from various rim stations with inflow of 326,004 cusecs.
According to the data released by IRSA, the water level in River Indus at Tarbela Dam was 1527.00 feet which was 125.00 feet higher than the dead level of 1402.00 feet. Water inflow and outflow in the dam was recorded as 213,700 cusecs and 174,900 cusecs, respectively.
The water level in River Jhelum at Mangla Dam was 1184.85 feet, which was 134.85 feet higher than its dead level of 1,050 feet. The inflow and outflow of water was recorded 17,780 cusecs and 8,000 cusecs, respectively.
The release of water at Kalabagh, Taunsa, Guddu and Sukkur was recorded as 227,594, 426,400, 315,558 and 225,260 cusecs, respectively. Similarly, from River Kabul, a total of 41,000 cusecs of water released at Nowshera and 26,745 cusecs released from River Chenab at Marala.

Constable injured by robbers’ firing

MULTAN, Jul 14 (APP):A constable of the Crime Control Department (CCD),Shujabad Circle sustained injuries after the fire from alleged robbers near Basti Lagranvein in Shujabad on Monday.
According to officials,the CCD team was on patrolling duty when three unidentified suspects opened fire on the police.During the indiscriminate firing,a constable named Muhammad Asif was hit by a bullet in his right hand.
However,the suspects managed to escaped from the scene.
The injured constable was shifted to Nishtar Hospital for treatment.

Two persons injured critically in road mishap

NOWSHERA VIRKAN Jul 14 (APP):Two persons here on Monday received critical injuries in collisions between a donkey-cart and a motorbike on Tattle Aali–Nowshera Virkan road.
President, All Painters and Art Association, Muhammad Shabir Mughal was riding on a motorcycle with his friend, Muhammad Younis when their two wheeler collided with the donkey-cart, and they critically injured, the rescue sources said.
They said a Rescue 1122 team shifted the injured to Tehsil Headquarter Hospital (THQ), adding the doctors referred an injured to District Headquarter Hospital, Gujranwala.

PSX crossing 135,000 points reflects business community’s confidence in economy: PM

ISLAMABAD, Jul 14 (APP): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday expressed pleasure over the Pakistan Stock Exchange crossing a historic level of 135,000 points, saying that it reflected the confidence of the business community in Pakistan’s economy.

The prime minister, in a statement, said that the current positive economic indicators showed the government’s policies moving in the right direction.

He said that providing a conducive environment to the business community was the government’s priority.

Prime Minister Shehbaz said that the country had embarked on the path to economic growth after achieving stability.

He said that the government was working tirelessly for the country’s development and public welfare.

Polio virus found in Mirpur AJK sewerage system: DHO

MIRPUR (AJK), Jul 14 (APP):Mirpur AJK, District Health Authorities have advised the parents to complete the routine immunization course, including the polio vaccination course of their under-5 children through the routine stipulated polio vaccination drive.
“Yes, the polio virus was detected in Mirpur AJK through sewerage system inspection, since the virus is genetically linked to the virus existing in Lahore, in the wake of the recent environmental inspection primarily to detect the viral disease”, Dr. Fida Hussain, District Health Officer (DHO) Mirpur told APP here.
The DHO said that the people should not be scared of the detection of the polio virus as the polio virus was reportedly detected at about two hundred sites in various parts of the country in the wake of the routine examination and inspection of the sewerage system on environmental grounds, he observed.
Dr. Fida Hussain emphasized that parents should strictly focus on getting the polio vaccination in every campaign for their children under 5 years of age completed through the polio eradication drives conducted in the country, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir, under the World Health Organization calendar.
To a question, the DHO said that the AJK State Health Department was keeping a close watch, monitoring the situation to instantly combat the detection of the polio virus in any part of this lakeside district.

Two dacoits gunned down in encounter

KASUR, Jul 14 (APP):The Crime Control Department (CCD) team on Monday killed two robbers in encounter near Nizampura bypass.
The police sources said the dacoits had been identified as  Kamran alias Kami and Pervaiz alias Pappu, adding they were involved in various cases of dacoity in the district.
The police shifted the bodies to District Baba Bullahy Shah Hospital, they added.

East Kazakhstan to resume train service to Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara

ASTANA, July 14 (Kazinform/APP) : East Kazakhstan governor Nurymbet Saktaganov met with Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Kazakhstan Bakhtiyor Ibragimov, Kazinform News Agency cites the governor’s press service.
The talks focused on the prospects for further cooperation between East Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, particularly in the agro-industrial complex and tourism.
As stated there, this year Ust Kamenogorsk will resume train service to Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara. To note, direct flights were launched from Ust Kamenogorsk to Uzbekistan.
The sides debated opportunities for delivering nuclear fuel for the future NPP in Uzbekistan and exchanging practices in industrial waste treatment and burial.
The governor said development of joint projects will elevate cooperation between East Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to a new, strategically important level. As reported earlier, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan strengthen cooperation in geology.
