Sindh govt will give tax exemptions to investors in eco-friendly industries: Nasir Shah

KARACHI, Jun 22 (APP): Sindh Minister for Energy, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, inaugurated the first local EV electric car showroom here on Sunday.
The provincial minister inaugurated the showroom by cutting the ribbon.
The energy minister inspected the electric vehicles on display.
The company’s CEO gave a detailed briefing about the vehicles. Information was also provided regarding the after-sales services offered by the company. The electric car charging ports can also be installed at home.
Talking to media representatives on the occasion, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said, “Today we have inaugurated the ENVEREX Industries EV showroom. We appreciate the local production of electric vehicles and will fully support it. The cost of running an electric car is Rs. 4 per kilometer.”
He further stated that, in line with PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s vision, eco-friendly energy projects are being promoted and supported. Government-owned lands will be utilized for electric charging stations. It has been made mandatory to include electric charging facilities in newly constructed buildings in Sindh. Electric charging stations will be established in major cities across the province.
Syed Nasir Hussain Shah further informed the media that, for the convenience of travelers, electric charging stations will be set up every 30 to 40 kilometers outside city areas. Special funds are being allocated for eco-friendly projects as per the directions of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
The Sindh government is fully supporting and facilitating such eco-friendly initiatives. Efforts will be made to shift more vehicles and bikes to electric power. He emphasized that the success of electric projects depends on the availability of easy and accessible charging facilities. Anyone who invests in eco-friendly industries will be supported at the government level. The Sindh government desires that investors carry out manufacturing locally. Tax exemptions will be provided to electric vehicle industries.

Governor Punjab praises PPP’s role in strengthening national defence

ATTOCK, Jun 22 (APP): Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan paid tribute to the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) for its historical role in fortifying the country’s defence.
He lauded Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s stance on the country’s nuclear program and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s efforts in laying the foundation of Pakistan’s missile technology. The Governor expressed these views while addressing a ceremony held to celebrate the 72nd birthday of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.
The Governor also praised Bilawal Bhutto’s successful diplomatic efforts, which have dominated the Pakistan narrative over Indian false propaganda. He highlighted the importance of effective diplomacy in promoting the country’s interests and countering external threats.
While talking to newsmen, Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan called on the federal government to provide immediate support to Pakistan’s national hockey team.
He praised the team’s remarkable performance in qualifying for the finals of an international tournament despite a lack of institutional support. The Governor urged the government to provide necessary support to the athletes, saying that their achievement has raised Pakistan’s flag high on the international stage.

Iran to continue its nuclear program despite US attack: Iranian Ambassador

ISLAMABAD, Jun 22 (APP): Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr Reza Amiri Moghadam, on Sunday asserted that Iran would continue its nuclear program despite the United States (US) attacked its three nuclear sites including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan.
While speaking at the emergency press conference here at the National Press Club, Islamabad, he called the Iranian nuclear program was for peaceful purposes, including generating electricity and others, emphasizing that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has declared our nuclear program peaceful fifteen times, said a press release.
He further said that negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program were ongoing when Israel attacked Iran’s peaceful nuclear program and martyred its prominent nuclear scientists, military commanders, to which Iran responded with missiles it had developed.
He also declared Israeli and American attacks on Iran are a clear violation of international law, calling that Israel could not face Iranian missiles for ten days.
“Iran will respond to the US in accordance with the United Nations Charter.” He said.
He thanked the Pakistani government for condemning the attacks on Iranian soil.
The Iranian nuclear commission was investigating the situation after the US attacks so that the Iranian people can be protected from any emergency situation, he noted.
“We are ready to fight this war for a long time with the guidance of our leadership and the help of our forces,” he said.
“We have not yet requested the supply of weapons from any country,” he added.
In response to a question, the Iranian ambassador said that drones and other weapons had been recovered from people spying in Iran, adding that some Iranian people were also among those arrested.

President expresses concern over escalating tensions in Middle East

The President urged all parties involved in the conflict to exercise maximum restraint and to choose the path of peace, dialogue and diplomacy to ensure enduring peace and stability in the region.

President Asif Ali Zardari also called upon the international community to play its part in de-escalating the crisis in the interest of regional stability as well as the well-being of its people.

The delegation was led by the Chairman of the Saudi-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Committee, Major General (R) Dr Abdulrahman bin Sanhat Al-Harbi, and comprised members of the Saudi Shura Council, Dr. Iman bint Abdulaziz Al-Jabreen and Engineer Salem bin Ali Al-Shahrani.
Ayaz Sadiq extended a warm welcome to the delegation and conveyed his best wishes for the leadership and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
He commended the Kingdom’s exemplary arrangements for pilgrims during Hajj and acknowledged Saudi Arabia’s unwavering support to Pakistan during times of need.

CM Balochistan stresses for timely, coordinated measures to prevent food, fuel shortage in border areas

QUETTA, Jun 22 (APP): The Balochistan Chief Minister (CM) Mir Sarfraz Bugti stressed the need for timely and coordinated measure to ensure the supply of essential food items and fuel, the return of pilgrims and students, and the overall security situation in the districts adjacent to Iran border.
A high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Balochistan CM Mir Sarfraz Bugti at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat to assess the current situation in the border districts adjacent to Iran.
The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Zahid Saleem, Secretary Finance Imran Zarkoon, Director General PDMA Jahanzeb Khan, Spokesperson of Balochistan government Shahid Rind, and FIA Director Behram Khan Mandokhail, along with other senior officials of the Home Department. Inspector General Police Balochistan Moazzam Jah Ansari, Commissioners of Makran and Rakhshan Divisions, and Deputy Commissioners from the Iran-bordering districts participated via video link.
Officials from various departments briefed the meeting on existing measures and future strategies. It was reported that, there is no food shortage in the border districts adjacent to Iran.
CM Sarfraz Bugti directed all concerned authorities to ensure uninterrupted supply of food and basic necessities in these regions, emphasizing that proactive steps must continue to prevent any public hardship. He also stressed the importance of maintaining electricity and LPG supply, directing the implementation of alternative energy strategies where necessary.
He added that coordination with the federal government is underway to improve the overall energy and fuel situation. The provincial government is actively engaged with the Federal Ministry of Petroleum to ensure a steady supply of petrol in the border areas, aiming to prevent any fuel shortages for local residents.
Highlighting the importance of timely and well-coordinated efforts, the CM said that protecting the border population from food and fuel crises is our top priority. He instructed the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) to keep a contingency plan ready to respond swiftly to any emergencies.
He also directed commissioners and deputy commissioners to maintain close surveillance of the evolving situation and prioritize the resolution of public issues. Speaking on the safe return of pilgrims and students, the CM expressed satisfaction and emphasized the need to further strengthen the measures ensuring their secure journey.
Bugti reiterated the provincial government’s commitment to public welfare, stating that coordinated efforts among all departments are essential to make border residents feel safe and supported.

Ongoing projects to be completed before monsoon

LAHORE, Jun 22 (APP): There will be no new excavation in Lahore before the monsoon, the excavated parts of the ongoing projects will be completed before the monsoon, while underground water tanks will also be functional soon to store precious rainwater.
Preparations for the monsoon have been further accelerated on the instructions of the Chief Minister of Punjab.
In this regard, Secretary Housing Noorul Amin Mengal visited different areas of the city on Sunday and reviewed the ongoing development works of the Lahore Development Program in Sagian area.
Mengal also visited the streets near Shahdara Toyota College and the water tank under construction in the Punjab Assembly. On this occasion, DG WASA Punjab Tayyab Farid, DG LDA, DC and MD WASA gave a briefing.
The Secretary Housing expressed his anger over the lack of awareness boards and safety measures at the construction sites and ordered to prominently display awareness boards, safety measures and warning signs at the construction sites.
Noorul Amin Mengal directed that along with development works, the safety of human lives should be the top priority, new excavations should not be done before the monsoon, and the excavation parts of already ongoing projects should be completed soon.
He said that the completion of the underground water tank would make the best use of precious rainwater possible.

Govt improving sanitation, healthcare services: Talal Chaudhry

FAISALABAD, Jun 22 (APP):State Minister for Interior Senator Talal Chaudhary has said the government is improving sanitation and healthcare services by spending billions of rupees without discrimination.
Addressing a prize distribution ceremony in Jaranwala, he paid tribute to sanitation workers and termed them true heroes of national service. He said that performance of ‘Waste Heroes’ remained exemplary during Eid-ul-Azha as they strived hard to make cities and villages neat and clean under Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Maryam Nawaz’s vision for “Clean Punjab”.
He praised strenuous efforts of waste management workers and said that they despite extreme heat worked diligently, honestly and dedicatedly to ensure timely removal of waste material during three days of sacrificial rituals.
Their commitment not only impressed the citizens but they also set new benchmarks in cleanliness, he added.
He said that Punjab government under dynamic leadership of CM Maryam Nawaz was spending billions of rupees to improve sanitation and public health service across the province without any discrimination.
In this connection, he also commended relentless service of waste workers particularly in collection and disposal of animal waste.
Similarly, the government has also enhanced healthcare service by providing free medicines even in rural hospitals, he added.
He also praised the performance of law enforcement agencies and said that Safe City Project has been established in Faisalabad to provide full protection to the lives and properties of the citizens.
He said that Pakistan is a nuclear power and its credit goes to former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Our fate might have been similar to other vulnerable nations if we were not a nuclear power, he added.
Commenting on global politics, he mentioned that those who support Pakistan on Kashmir would always be held in high esteem.
During ceremony, cash prizes of Rs.10,000/- each were distributed among 1,285 sanitation workers in Jaranwala.
Similar appreciation events were also held in Samundri and Tandlianwala where MNAs Shahbaz Babar and Nawab Sher Waseer, MPAs Arif Gill, Rai Kashif, Khan Bahadur Dogar, Qudsia Batool, former MPA Shoaib Idrees and other PML-N leaders distributed rewards among 550 workers in Samundri and 350 in Tandlianwala.

Senate chairman condoles with Imran Qadir Gilani
