Muharram teaches brotherhood & unity: Aleem Khan

ISLAMABAD, Jun 27 (APP): Federal Minister for Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan has extended his heartfelt best wishes to the nation on the commencement of the new Hijri year.
In his message, he prayed for blessings upon the entire Muslim Ummah and every Pakistani as the lunar year begins. Abdul Aleem Khan emphasized that Muharram-ul-Haram symbolizes unwavering unity and mutual brotherhood. He said that this sacred month teaches us the values of compassion, harmony and raising our voice for truth,said a press release issued here on Friday.
In a message shared on X (formerly Twitter), the Federal Minister stated that the grandson of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) along with his companions, nurtured the religion of Islam with their blood during Muharram. The “Hussaini Ideology” is a timeless lesson in standing firm against falsehood for the sake of truth. By following their noble example, Muslims can attain the pleasure of Almighty Allah, Abdul Aleem Khan added. He concluded by praying for the protection of Pakistan and the uplift of the Muslim World, expressing hope that this new year will bring an end to extremism and usher in an era of peace and harmony.

7,000 Rawalpindi cops deployed for Muharram security: CPO

RAWALPINDI, Jun 27 (APP): More than 7,000 police personnel have been deployed to provide security to around 1,800 gatherings and over 400 processions during the first 10 days of Muharram-ul-Haram.
City Police Officer Syed Khalid Hamdani, in a statement on Friday, said over 1,000 volunteers (Razakars) would also assist the police in security arrangements.
The volunteers had been imparted special training in that regard at the Police Headquarters, he added.
Moreover, the CPO said, around 930 traffic police personnel would also be in the field to maintain smooth traffic on the city roads and in the surroundings of the Imambargahs and procession routes.
He reaffirmed that the Rawalpindi Police would be on toes for the security of some 413 processions and 1,796 gatherings to be held during Muharram-ul-Haram.
The instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Inspector General of Police Dr Usman Anwar for foolproof security arrangements would be strictly complied with, the COP added.
He said a special control room had been established in the Safe City Rawalpindi to monitor the processions and gatherings through Safe City and other cameras.
The CPO said no person would be allowed to enter the procession without a body search, while all the roads and streets adjacent to the procession routes would be sealed.
Parking of vehicles would also not be allowed near Imambargahs, he added.
CPO Hamdani said the standard operating procedures and the code of conduct issued by the Punjab Government regarding Muharram-ul-Haram would be fully implemented.
He warned tenants of legal action in case of their non-registration. He asked the owners of hostels, hotels and inns not to allow anyone to stay in violation of the SOPs.
He further warned that immediate legal action would be taken against the elements spreading religious and sectarian hatred on social media.
The CPO assured that the Rawalpindi Police were taking all measures to establish peace and order, and an atmosphere of brotherhood during Muharram-ul-Haram.

Gold prices decrease by Rs.5,000 to Rs.351,000 per tola

ISLAMABAD, Jun 27 (APP): The price of 24 karat per tola gold decreased by Rs.5,000 and was traded at Rs.351,000 on Friday as compared to its sale at Rs. 356,000 on the last trading day, All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewelers Association reported.
The prices of 10 grams of 24 karat also decreased by Rs4,287 to Rs.300,925 from Rs. 305,212 and for 10 grams of 22 Karat it came down by Rs.3,930 to Rs.275,857 from Rs. 279,787.
The rates of per tola and ten gram silver decreased by Rs.68 and Rs.58 to Rs.3,782 and Rs.3,242 respectively.
The price of gold in the international market decreased by $53 to $3,290 from $3,343, whereas that of silver dipped by $0.68 to $35.98, the Association reported.

Rickshaw driver acquitted in traffic warden murder case

LAHORE, Jun 27 (APP): A sessions court on Friday acquitted a rickshaw driver in the murder case of traffic warden Ali Raza, citing lack of evidence.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Asad Hafeez announced the verdict, acquitting the accused, Mustafa Talat, who had been nominated as the prime suspect in the case.
During the trial proceedings, defence counsel presented evidence supporting the accused’s innocence. The prosecution, despite presenting 15 witnesses, failed to establish Mustafa Talat’s involvement in the crime.
The case was registered following the fatal incident in Lahore’s Garden Town, where traffic warden Ali Raza was killed. Mustafa Talat had been arrested and charged as the main accused.
