IESCO notifies power suspension programme

ISLAMABAD, Dec 17 (APP):The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) on Wednesday issued a power suspension programme for various areas of its region on Thursday due to necessary maintenance and routine development work.
According to an IESCO spokesperson, electricity supply to various feeders will remain temporarily suspended during the maintenance activity. IESCO management apologizes to its esteemed customers for the power outage. If the work is completed ahead of time, the power supply can be restored even before the scheduled time.

IESCO completes most of maintenance work on 11 kV feeders in Islamabad, Bhara Kahu, adjoining areas

ISLAMABAD, Dec 17 (APP):Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has completed most of the maintenance work on 11 kV feeders in Islamabad, Bhara Kahu and adjoining areas under its Annual System Maintenance Programme.
Chief Executive Officer IESCO Engineer Ch. Khalid Mahmood, while taking notice of the inconvenience faced by valued consumers due to scheduled shutdowns and power outages under the Annual System Maintenance Program on 11 kV feeders, 132 kV grid stations and transmission lines, directed the Operations, Construction and Grid System Operations (GSO) formations to expedite the completion of the remaining maintenance work, said a press release issued on Wednesday.
He said that all teams are working with dedication and commitment, and that maintenance works on most of the 11 kV feeders in Islamabad Circle and adjoining areas including Islamabad sectors, Bhara Kahu, Murree, Nathia Gali and other tourist destinations have been completed.
He expressed hope that by the end of December, shutdowns of 11 kV feeders in Islamabad Circle and surrounding areas will be finished, whereas shutdowns related to Construction and GSO will continue as per the approved schedule.
The IESCO Operations & Maintenance Directorate has uploaded the revised schedule on IESCOs official website www.iesco.com.pk. Consumers can also obtain the required information by following IESCOs official social media accounts. Moreover, the 118 helpline remains available 24 hours a day.

IGP takes notice of killing of two persons at wedding ceremony

LAHORE, Dec 17 (APP):Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Dr Usman Anwar on Wednesday took notice of an incident in which two persons were killed and three others injured as a result of firing by rivals at a wedding ceremony in Mandi Bahauddin.
According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, the IGP sought a report from the regional police officer (RPO) Gujranwala and directed the district police officer (DPO) Mandi Bahauddin Abdul Rahim Shirazi to ensure the immediate arrest of the accused. He further ordered that all available resources be utilised to apprehend those involved in the incident.
The spokesperson said the deceased were identified as Anar and Tariq, while the injured included Khizar Hayat, Imran and Shahid Tarar.
The DPO said that police reached the scene promptly, collected evidence and initiated an investigation from all angles. He added that raids were being conducted and the accused would be arrested at the earliest and brought to justice.

CM inspects service delivery at Citizen Facilitation Center

PESHAWAR, Dec 17 (APP):Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Wedensday visited Charsadda and conducted an on-ground assessment of facilities being provided to the public and the overall service delivery system at Citizen Facilitation Center.
During the visit, the CM expressed displeasure over undue delays in land transfers and issuance of ownership records (Fard) and directed relevant authorities that delays in public service matters would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
He also directed district administration to ensure the deployment of patwaris at the Citizen Facilitation Center on a rotation basis, so that citizens are not forced to visit multiple offices and are instead provided timely and dignified services under one roof.
Taking notice of power outages, he further instructed the upgradation of the solar power system installed at the center to ensure uninterrupted service delivery and to prevent inconvenience to the public.
During visit, he interacted directly with citizens, listened to their concerns and sought their feedback on service delivery.
He also ordered an immediate inquiry into complaints regarding delays in the issuance of inheritance certificates (Intiqal) and made it clear that any form of negligence or inefficiency in such sensitive matters is unacceptable.

PPP leader Ibn Muhammad Rizvi laid to rest

RAWALPINDI, Dec 17 (APP):Senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Ibn Muhammad Rizvi was laid to rest at Shah Ki Talliyan Graveyard on Wednesday.
The funeral prayers were offered at Liaquat Bagh Ground, where a large number of political leaders, party workers, relatives and admirers gathered to pay their last respects.
Ibn Muhammad Rizvi, who breathed his last on Tuesday, was a former office secretary at the PPP Central Secretariat. He was the younger brother of late Pakistan Television controller Aun Muhammad Rizvi and Syed Shamim Haider.
Several prominent political and social figures attended the funeral, including former senator Farhatullah Babar, Member of the National Assembly Barrister Daniyal Chaudhry, Member of the Provincial Assembly Raja Muhammad Hanif Advocate, Dr Safdar Abbasi, Malik Mazhar Hussain, Sheikh Rasheed, Dr Jamal Nasir, Zamarud Khan and Babar Awan, along with senior PPP leaders, lawyers, journalists and people from different walks of life.
Speaking to reporters, attendees described Rizvi as an important political figure whose services to the party would be remembered, adding that his death was an irreparable loss for the PPP and the country’s political landscape.
Prayers were offered for the departed soul and for patience and fortitude for the bereaved family.
