ICT export remittances rise 23.8% in July 2025

ISLAMABAD, Aug 20 (APP):Pakistan’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) export remittances surged by 23.8 percent to US$354 million in July 2025 (FY2025-26), compared to US$286 million during the same month last year.
On a month-on-month basis, exports grew by 4.4 percent.
The ICT sector also posted a trade surplus of US$ 317 million in July, reflecting a 25.8 percent increase compared to July 2024, and maintaining the highest surplus among all services. The overall services sector recorded a trade deficit of US$126 million during the same period.
ICT exports accounted for 47.5 percent of Pakistan’s total services exports, making it the country’s largest contributor. It was followed by “Other Business Services,” which earned US$151 million.

Sargodha Board announces results of class 9

SARGODHA, Aug 20 (APP):The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Sargodha announced the results of class 9 annual examination on Wednesday.
According to a press release issued by the SISE,  Commissioner and Chairman
Education Board Jahanzaib Awan unveiled the results online during a ceremony.
He was joined by officers, including Board Secretary Abul Hasan Ali and Controller
Examinations Riaz Qadir Bhatti.
A total of 112,492 candidates appeared in the exam and 52,166 were declared successful,
leading to an overall pass percentage 46.37.
The results for the four districts under the board’s jurisdiction varied, with Sargodha district achieving a pass rate of 49.37% (31,370 out of 63,540 candidates). In Khushab, 9,033 out of 20,147 candidates passed with a passing rate of 44.84%.
Mianwali district saw 10,096 successful candidates out of 23,750, with a pass percentage
of 42.51%. The lowest pass rate was in Bhakkar district, where 9,971 out of 24,646 candidates were successful with a rate of 40.46%.
An analysis of the results showed that the Science group had a higher success rate, with 37,848 out of 77,782 candidates passing rate of 48.66%. The Humanities group had a pass rate of 44.61%, with 6,948 out of 15,576 candidates being successful.
A particularly noteworthy achievement was that all 82 deaf and mute candidates who appeared for the exam passed.
Commissioner Jahanzaib Awan extended his congratulations to the successful students.
The results are available on the board’s official website, and regular students can get their result cards through their institution’s login portals, the controller examination said.

Police arrest 3 outlaws

KOHAT, Aug 20 (APP):The Mills police have apprehended 3 suspects in an operation launched against the criminal elements on the instructions of Kohat District Police Officer Dr. Zahidullah.
The police spokesman said 1160 grams of hashish and 250 grams of ice were recovered from the
possession of the arrested suspects.
The weapons were also recovered from the possession of the arrested suspects.
The successful operation was carried out by a team of Mills Police Station under the supervision of SHO, Iqbal Khan.
The arrested suspects have been transferred to Mills Police Station
and remanded in custody.

DPM Dar departs for Kabul to attend trilateral foreign ministers’ meeting

ISLAMABAD, Aug 20 (APP): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Wednesday departed here for Kabul to attend the 6th Trilateral Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Pakistan, China and Afghanistan.

He was accompanied by Special Assistant to Prime Minister and Special Representative for Afghanistan Ambassador Mohammad Sadiq, and senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, the participating leaders will discuss enhancing cooperation among the three countries, especially in trade, regional connectivity, and the counter-terrorism domain.

The deputy prime minister will also hold a bilateral meeting with the Acting Foreign Minister of Afghanistan to discuss bilateral matters.

Uzbekistan–Japan: Prospects for development of bilateral cooperation highlighted

OSAKA, Aug 20 (UzA/APP): A delegation of Uzbekistan led by the Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov visited Tokyo and Osaka, where they held several meetings and negotiations.
In particular, negotiations were held with the leadership of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI), the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), as well as with representatives of such prominent companies as Sojitz Corporation, Washin Trading, Le One Co. Ltd., Daido Industries, OMETA, ITO Corporation, Okamoto Corporation, and Masui.
At the meeting with the Head of METI, Masaki Ogushi, the issue of establishing cooperation within the framework of the joint project lending mechanism was considered to expand bilateral trade-economic cooperation, stimulate mutual investments, introduce energy-saving technologies, and support low-carbon initiatives. Issues of increasing the range of agricultural products, speeding up the process of obtaining phytosanitary permits for Uzbekistan sweet cherries, partnerships in the energy, mining, processing, and supply of strategic metals were also discussed.
An agreement was reached with JBIC management to accelerate ongoing projects, launch financing for new initiatives, and provide broader support to the private sector.
The prospects for cooperation in energy, healthcare, agriculture, light industry, infrastructure creation, textile industry development, and the introduction of smart farming technologies were analyzed during the negotiations with representatives of reputable companies. In particular, following talks with Sojitz Corporation, a new roadmap was signed covering the fields of energy, healthcare, infrastructure, and other areas.
The Uzbekistan delegation also took part in official events dedicated to the National Day of Uzbekistan, which were organized within the framework of the EXPO 2025, in Osaka.
This visit confirms the high level of strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Japan, as well as opens up new prospects for deepening investment cooperation.

SP inspects high security zone duty

ISLAMABAD, Aug 20 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police SP High Security Zone Muhammad Iqbal Khan inspected duty points within the High Security Zone on Wednesday.
A police spokesperson told APP that during his visit, SP Iqbal Khan met with officers deployed at duty points and emphasized the importance of performing their responsibilities with full dedication and vigilance.
He briefed the deployed officers on ensuring strict checking, maintaining alertness at all times, and strengthening security measures to safeguard citizens and sensitive areas.
He said the ICT Police remains committed to ensuring the protection of citizens and maintaining peace and order in the federal capital.

District admin assures provision of clean drinking waters disaster-hit areas of tehsil Baffa

MANSEHRA, Aug 20 (APP):Additional Assistant Commissioner-II, along with Revenue Field Staff and the Public Health Engineering (PHE) team Wednesday visited the disaster-affected areas of Tehsil Baffa, including Neel Bun and Dheri Haleem.
During the visit, the Drinking Water Supply Scheme was repaired and restored, ensuring immediate provision of clean drinking water to the local population and affected families.
The legal heirs of those who lost their lives demanded urgent provision of Non-Food Items (NFIs), including mattresses, blankets, shoes, clothes, and jackets. They also called for the repair or restoration of the turbine to ensure an immediate electricity supply in the area.
On the occasion, Fateha was offered for the departed souls, and condolences were expressed to the bereaved families.
The residents and affected families thanked the District Administration Mansehra for its timely support and appreciated its services.
