LAHORE, Dec 15 (APP):Emergency measures have been introduced to strengthen security arrangements at government colleges across Punjab.
Sources in the Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) Colleges Punjab told APP that an instruction letter has been issued on a priority and most urgent basis to divisional directors, deputy directors, and principals of all government colleges.
The letter directs that agreements with private security companies be finalized immediately for all government colleges in Punjab. In this regard, a list of 128 private security companies licensed by the Punjab government has been circulated, from which security personnel will be hired.
According to DPI Punjab, each college will be provided with one security supervisor and three armed security guards, bringing the total security staff at each institution to four. The security supervisor will be authorized to carry one weapon.
The letter further instructs that private security personnel be hired without delay. Until funds were formally released by the finance department, payments to the security staff will be made temporarily from college funds. At the initial stage, colleges themselves will bear the cost of these arrangements.
DPI Punjab stated that the objective of these measures is to improve the law and order situation on college campuses and ensure the safety of students, teachers, and staff. All concerned officers have been directed to implement the instructions immediately and in full.
