CDA Chairman directs restoration of 23 water fountains

ISLAMABAD, Apr 15 (APP):Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa, on Tuesday directed swift restoration of 23 non-functional water fountains across the city, accompanied by artistic lighting.
It was decided in a meeting centered on enhancing Islamabad’s aesthetic appeal through large-scale tree plantation, beautification of major roads, and upgrading recreational facilities.
The CDA has identified five major avenues for immediate beautification include, Expressway, Margalla Road, Club Road, Park Road and Faisal Avenue.
These roads will undergo lane marking, footpath repairs, green belt development, and medians’ beautification.
Modern lighting, decorative planters, seasonal flowers, and natural boulders will be installed to enhance visual appeal.
All major roundabouts will be revamped, and mega parks will be upgraded with walking tracks, swings, and horticultural improvements.
To combat pollution, urban forest projects will be prioritized, focusing on increasing green cover and sustainable land use.
Sprinkler systems will be optimized to ensure plant survival amid water scarcity.
A mobile app will be launched to provide citizens affordable plants and seeds from CDA nurseries, promoting public participation in greening efforts.
Chairman Randhawa emphasized that these measures aim to elevate Islamabad’s global image while ensuring environmental sustainability.
“Our goal is to blend beauty with eco-conscious urban planning, making Islamabad a model city,” he stated.

MoIB launches song to honor Ambassadors of Pakistani excellence

ISLAMABAD, Apr 15 (APP): The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MoIB) Tuesday released a new national song ‘Tu Hi Hai Ik Bandiya” as a tribute to Pakistani expatriates and the persons who emerged as icon and symbol for entire nation.

The song was formally released on the concluding day of the first-ever Overseas Pakistanis Convention.

The song highlights and portrays not only the vital contributions of the Pakistani diaspora, in addition to recognizing role of persons for elevating nation’s standing through persistent hard work, and extraordinary capabilities.

The production prominently features the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and highlights recent positive economic developments that include reduced inflation, spike in foreign investment and tax revenues, and significant cuts in the interest rate and electricity prices, depicting the facts and figures of national progress.

Showcasing national icons, the video features glimpses of celebrated athletes like glod-medalist javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem and acknowledges the success of the Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team, among other sports stars who have brought home the international recognition.

It also includes scenes of adventure sports like mountaineering and celebrates technological milestones such as the successful launch of the ICUBE-Qamar satellite, emphasizing the role of youth in national development process.

“Tu Hi Hai Ik Bandiya” vibrantly projects Pakistan’s diverse culture, rich heritage, and development trajectory in an elaborate manner.

The Ministry puts the song as a “beautiful effort” to foster patriotism and national unity, reflecting the shared pride and sentiments of the nation for projecting a positive global image.

The Ministry said the song has been disseminated across national media channels and social media platforms, receiving widespread appreciation from the public since its release earlier in the day.

Overseas Pakistanis shows full confidence over government investment friendly policies

Addressing at the four-day first Overseas Convention here, they said that it was the historic record of the country that last month in March 2025, Overseas Pakistan have sent over four billion dollars remittances to homeland.
They thanked to the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir for holding and prestigious event for expatriates and promised to address the possible issues as soon as possible on priority basis.
A Overseas Pakistani Sajid Tarar from UK, he said around two million Pakistanis living in UK and wanted to invest in homeland as incumbent regime had introduces productive and friendly policies for Overseas Investors.
Dr Nadeem from Saudi Arabia have suggested the government to introduce five years plans for skilled and unskilled workers and new destinations in the digital global world.
He said that million of Pakistanis could get the jobs in the different countries through the latest technology.
Nadeem said that as per the vision of KSA 2030 thousands of Pakistanis could get jobs.
Ayesha Khan from USA also appreciated the policies of the incumbent regime and suggested that Overseas Pakistan should avoid the baseless and misinformation of social media.

Heatwave to persist in Southern Pakistan as upper parts brace for rain & thunderstorms

ISLAMABAD, Apr 15 (APP): The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted that heatwave conditions are likely to continue in Sindh, south Punjab, and parts of Balochistan until April 18.

A westerly weather system was expected to enter the upper parts of the country on the evening of April 16 and will likely persist till April 20, bringing rain, wind, and thunderstorms with occasional gaps.

Under the influence of this weather system, rain-wind/thunderstorm with a few heavy falls are expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Battagram, Buner, Kurram, Bajaur, Mohmand, Orakzai, Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu, Waziristan, Dera Ismail Khan, Lakki Marwat, Tank, Murree, Galliyat, Gilgit-Baltistan (Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, Shigar) and Kashmir (Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur) from the evening or night of April 16 to April 20, with intermittent breaks. Isolated hailstorms may also occur during the forecast period.

Dust/thunderstorm and rain are expected in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Mianwali, Sargodha, Bhakkar, Khushab, Jhelum, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Faisalabad, Jhang, and Toba Tek Singh on the evening of April 16 and again from the evening or night of April 18 to the morning of April 20. Isolated hailstorms may also occur during this period.

Duststorms and gusty winds are also expected in Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Layyah, Kot Addu, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalpur, Multan, Sahiwal, Khanewal, Pakpattan Sharif, Vehari, and Okara on April 18 and 19.

The Met Office has warned that wind-dust storms, hailstorms, and lightning may damage loose structures such as electric poles, trees, vehicles, and solar panels.

Farmers have been advised to manage their crop activities, especially wheat harvesting, keeping in view the weather conditions.

There is also a possibility of landslides in vulnerable hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Murree, and Galliyat during the forecast period.

The public is advised to avoid direct exposure to sunlight during the daytime and to remain hydrated to cope with the prevailing heatwave conditions.

All concerned authorities have been advised to remain alert and take necessary measures to avoid any untoward situation.

Heatwave alert issued for South Punjab as temperature rises

MULTAN, Apr 15 (APP):In response to the rising temperature across South Punjab, the Health and Population Department has issued an official heatwave alert to ensure public safety and medical preparedness.
A spokesperson for the Health and Population Dept said on Tuesday that Director General Health Services South Punjab, Dr Ali Mehdi, has been appointed as the focal person for coordination and issuing guidelines related to heatstroke. On the special directives of Muhammad Shehbaz Hussain, Special Secretary Department of Health and Population South Punjab, instructions have been circulated to all Divisional commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, and District Health Authorities in the region.
He stated that the Chief Minister’s Mobile Hospital would be deployed in heatwave-affected areas, and trained personnel will be stationed at dedicated heatstroke camps to ensure swift and effective medical response.
Hospitals and health centers have also been directed to enhance public awareness regarding heatstroke prevention, the spokesperson said, adding that health authorities have been asked to coordinate closely with Rescue 1122, Civil Defence, and other relevant departments to ensure timely response in emergencies.
Furthermore, arrangements must be made in waiting areas of all health centers to provide shade, ventilation, and access to clean, cold drinking water.
Hospitals have been ordered to keep air-conditioners functional in all indoor wards, maintain a steady supply of fuel, and ensure that generators are operational to tackle potential power outages during the heatwave, he explained.
Special Secretary Muhammad Shehbaz Hussain said that due to rapid environmental changes, the region is experiencing an early and intense wave of heat. He urged the public to take precautionary measures, advising citizens to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities, stay hydrated with water and healthy drinks, and, if required to go outside, to cover their head, neck, and face and avoid sun exposure.

CII chairman urges Muslim world to take stand against Israeli aggression in Gaza

ISLAMABAD, Apr 15 (APP):The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) Chairman, Dr. Raghib Hussain Naeemi on Tuesday strongly condemned the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza, highlighting the catastrophic humanitarian crisis that has unfolded over the past 18 months.
Dr. Naeemi said despite a ceasefire agreement reached two and a half months ago, Israel has resumed and intensified its bombardment of Gaza.
“This brutal campaign has resulted in the martyrdom of over 60,000 innocent Palestinians, with hundreds of thousands more injured or disabled,” he said adding, “A majority of the casualties are women and children.”
Dr. Naeemi further noted that nearly 80 percent of Gaza has been reduced to rubble. “The city is currently under a total blockade, with the supply of food, medicine, and essential items halted, while the power infrastructure has been almost entirely destroyed,” he added.
Calling on the global Muslim community, the CII chairman said Israel’s recent atrocities in Gaza have deeply shaken the conscience of the Islamic world. “It is the duty of all Muslims not only to condemn these crimes in the strongest possible terms but also to take practical steps, within their capacity, to stop this oppression.”
Dr. Naeemi called for boycott of all companies and products that support Israel either financially or through any form of assistance. “As Muslims, it is our religious and moral responsibility to withhold economic support from those contributing to the suffering of our Palestinian brothers and sisters.”

Afghan ringleader of notorious robbery gang arrested in Nowshera

PESHAWAR, Apr 15 (APP):An Afghan national leading a notorious inter-provincial robbery gang involved in looting and murder has been arrested in the Nowshera district, police confirmed on Tuesday.
The Akora Khattak Police apprehended the ringleader, responsible for a recent armed robbery targeting a local textile trader. During the heist, three suspects allegedly snatched Rs. 3 million and fatally shot the trader’s driver just days before Eid.
The Afghan gang leader, who had been residing in Akora Khattak, was arrested along with key evidence, including the pistol used in the crime, stolen mobile phones, and a motorcycle.
All three suspects, including the arrested ringleader, are wanted by Punjab Police in connection with at least 14 cases of robbery and violent crimes. Raids were continued to apprehend the remaining two accomplices.

GCWUS kicks off book fair, literary festival

SIALKOT, Apr 15 (APP):A two-day book fair and literary festival began at Government College Women University Sialkot (GCWUS).
The special guests of the inaugural ceremony, MPA Chaudhry Faisal Ikram, MPA and Member Syndicate Shakeela Arthur, Vice Chancellor GCWUS Prof. Dr. Shazia Bashir and other dignitaries, formally inaugurated the fair by cutting the ribbon.
According to the GCUWS spokesperson, more than 20 renowned publishers set up stalls at the book fair, offering discounts of 30 to 60 percent on textbooks for female students. Books by university teachers, alumni, and current female students were also launched in the literary festival. At the beginning of the event, the students recited Asma-ul-Husna.
In the literary session, prominent writer and writer Professor Dr. Ambreen Salah-ud-Din gave a lively talk on “Women’s Urdu Poetry and Literature”, which was highly appreciated by the participants.
MPA Chaudhry Faisal Ikram emphasized the importance of book friendship and said that mobile phones are affecting our minds and the only solution to prevent this is love for books.
Vice Chancellor GCWUS Prof. Dr. Shazia Bashir appreciated the hard work of the festival convener Prof. Dr. Tariq, Library Incharge Nusrat Ali and all the committee members and said that the aim of this festival is to promote the trend of reading and knowledge among the female students.
She also invited women and families of Sialkot to visit the book fair with their children.
On this occasion, various food stalls were also set up by the students, which made the event more colorful.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Yasir Nawaz Manj, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Administrative Sciences Pro. Farewell held for Justice Ali Baqar Najafi

LAHORE, Apr 15 (APP):A formal send-off ceremony was held on Tuesday at the Lahore High Court (LHC) in honor of Justice Ali Baqar Najafi on his elevation to the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
The dignified event took place at the LHC principal seat and was attended by several esteemed judges. LHC Chief Justice Ms. Aalia Neelum graced the ceremony as the chief guest. Also present were Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh, Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza, Justice Syed Shahbaz Ali Rizvi, and other  judges of the High Court.
During the ceremony, Justice Najafi was lauded for his exemplary judicial services, his contributions to the delivery of justice, and his unwavering commitment to high judicial standards.
