NANJING, Dec 2 (Xinhua/APP): A new all-cargo air route linking Nanjing in east China’s Jiangsu Province and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, commenced operations on Sunday, marking an expansion of Nanjing’s global freight network.

Operated by Malaysia’s Raya Airways, a B767-200 freighter carrying over 38 tonnes of goods depart from Nanjing Lukou International Airport for Kuala Lumpur on an over five-hour flight.

Outbound flights primarily transport textiles, electronic components and cross-border e-commerce goods. Inbound flights are set to carry fresh Southeast Asian produce like mud crabs and chilled fish.

Nanjing Lukou International Airport currently operates seven international all-cargo routes, including services to Amsterdam, Mexico City and Seoul.

The new Kuala Lumpur link is expected to strengthen Nanjing’s air cargo connectivity with Southeast Asia, and will provide a more efficient logistics channel for cross-border e-commerce enterprises in Nanjing and its surrounding areas.

High-efficiency gas turbine boosts low-carbon power supply in China

HANGZHOU, Dec 2 (Xinhua/APP): An 843-megawatt gas turbine was officially connected to the grid on late Sunday in east China’s Zhejiang Province, after completing a 168-hour full-load trial run.

The unit, the first of two at the China Energy Investment Corporation Co., Ltd. plant in Anji County, achieves a remarkable efficiency rate of 64.15 percent, representing an approximately 17-percentage-point increase over conventional million-kilowatt coal-fired units.

Shen Chengliang, a manager at Huzhou branch of the State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power Co., Ltd., said that the turbine units, once fully operational, will generate up to 7 billion kWh of electricity annually, sufficient for the power supply of 6 million residents, strengthening the local power grid with low-carbon electricity.

Low-carbon power generation is a key driver of China’s strategy to meet its dual carbon goals — to peak carbon emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.

RIYADH, Dec 2 (Xinhua/APP): Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources on Monday announced the launch of a new bidding round for exploration licenses covering three mineralized belts.

According to the ministry, the three belts cover a total area exceeding 13,000 square km with prospective minerals including gold, silver, copper, zinc, and nickel.

The ministry said the newly offered belts build on areas previously presented in earlier rounds of mining license competitions, and include locations that have been the focus of extensive studies conducted over several decades.

The ministry added that the sites include belts with existing gold mines that produce significant annual output, in addition to zones containing deposits of various key minerals.

It noted that the application window for the pre-qualification phase will remain open until Dec. 15. It added that all relevant geological and technical information has been made available to investors through the ministry’s digital “Taadeen” platform.

The competition process consists of three stages: pre-qualification, site selection, and a multi-round live auction scheduled for the first quarter of next year, during which companies will compete based on their proposed exploration spending.

“Going forward, our two countries remain resolute in striving for achieving the common goals of peace and stability, development and prosperity, especially in the region, and worldwide. Insha Allah, our cooperation in the economic, bilateral trade, investment and defence sectors will pave the way for the well-being of the peoples of both countries,” he noted.
