Rain thunderstorm with gusty winds expected at isolated places

ISLAMABAD, Apr 17 (APP): Rain thunderstorm with gusty/dust raising winds is expected at isolated places in Malakand, Hazara, Rawalpindi,
Zhob divisions, Islamabad, upper FATA, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir while hot and dry weather to prevail elsewhere in the country during next 24 hours.

A westerly wave is affecting central and upper parts of the country
and likely to persist for 2 to 3 days, an official of Met office told APP.
Due to scattered rain thunderstorm, there is risk of more landslides
in Malakand, Hazara divisions, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir during Sunday to Wednesday.

In last 24 hours rain thunderstorm with gusty/dust raising winds
occurred at scattered places of Khaber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab, upper FATA and Kashmir while at isolated places of Quetta, Sibbi, D.G. Khan divisions and Gilgit Baltistan.

ISLAMABAD, April 17 (APP): Finance Minister Senator
Mohammad Ishaq Dar chaired a meeting of budget teams of
Pakistan Army and Finance Division here on Sunday.

The meeting discussed and reviewed the expenses incurred
on the Operation Zarb-e-Azb till date, said a ministry press
release.

Deliberations were also held on proposals of the Pakistan Army for the budget 2016-17.

The Finance Minister on the occasion reiterated that
the government attached top priority to national security matters,
including the ongoing operation Zarb-e-Azb.

ISLAMABAD, Apr 17 (APP): President of Republic of Mauritius Dr. Bibi Ameenah Firdaus Gurib-Fakim Sunday was accorded warm welcome as she arrived here on four-day official visit to strengthen bilateral relations in multiple fields.

Visiting at the invitation of President Mamnoon Husssain, the Mauritius President was accompanied by a nine-member delegation.

She was received by Minister of State for Information Technology Anusha Rehman as she landed at Nur Khan Airbase. Clad in beautiful national dresses, two children presented bouquet to the guest.

Formation of Inquiry Commission underway: Dar

ISLAMABAD, April 17 (APP): Finance Minister Senator
Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Sunday said that the formation of Inquiry
Commission in line with the Prime Minister’s announcement was underway and it would be notified on completion of requisite codal formalities.

Referring to the proposal from certain quarters naming
the Senate Chairman for the Inquiry Commission, the minister, in a statement, said it was not an appropriate suggestion as besides performing duties of the Chairman Senate, on occasions he also had to serve as acting President of Pakistan.

The statement of Senate Chairman wherein he has himself
declined the proposal to head the Inquiry Commission is most appropriate, he said.

CPEC to open new vistas of prosperity, development: Asif

ISLAMABAD, Apr 17 (APP): Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said that Gwadar port and China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects will open new vistas of prosperity and development in the country.

Talking to Radio Pakistan, he said CPEC project will bring revolutionary
change and usher economic stability and prosperity not only in Pakistan but also in the whole region.

The Minister said government is utilizing all available resources for
improving communication network equally in urban and rural parts of the
country.

Khawaja Asif demands forensic audit of funds raised by Imran Khan Foundation

ISLAMABAD, Apr 17 (APP): Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif Sunday demanded for a forensic audit of the funds raised by Imran Khan Foundation (IKF) for rehabilitation of flood victims in 2010.

Talking to a private TV channel, the minister said it was
the right of the people to know details of the funds collected in
the name of flood victims.

He said the audit should reveal to the people as how much
amount had been collected and where it had been spent, besides the
balanced amount.

He said the funds had been collected for reconstruction of
destroyed houses of the flood victims, but “where these houses
have been built,” he questioned the PTI leadership.

Shehbaz reviews reformation of PBIT

LAHORE, April 17 (APP): Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif here Sunday chaired a meeting to review different proposals regarding re-organization and reforms of Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT).

Addressing the meeting, Shehbaz Sharif said that it was a basic responsibility of the Board to promote investment and strengthen economy of the province. Therefore, it will have to carry out work with uniqueness and innovation for the promotion of local and foreign investment in the province as Punjab Board of Investment & Trade had a key role in strengthening of economy in Punjab, he added.

Shehbaz Sharif said a clear roadmap was necessary for achieving the targets for enhancing local and foreign investment, therefore, board officials should adopt a clear roadmap and ensure its implementation. He said that a close contact should be maintained with concerned departments of Punjab government so that achievement of fixed targets could be ensured within the stipulated period.

SIALKOT, April 17 (APP): Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said that government was utilizing all available resources for improving the means of communication across the country.

Talking to APP at Muslim League House here on Sunday he said the
basic concept to improve means of communication was to bringing far-off  and neglected areas at equal par with the developed parts of the country.

The linking remote areas with developed areas will bring revolutionary changes in life style and open new era of development and prosperity he added.

Govt to form independent commission on Panama Leaks: Zahid Hamid

SIALKOT, April 17 (APP): Federal Minister for Law and Climate Change Zahid Hamid Sunday said the government would soon  form an independent commission to initiate an impartial probe against
all those Pakistanis who were exposed in the Panama Leaks.

Talking to newsmen at Badiana, Pasrur Tehsil, he said the
government was taking the Panama Leaks seriously. He, however,
rejected the propaganda by opposition parties, which he said,
were busy in doing negative politics over the issue.
