Marvi Memon takes calls of BISP beneficiaries on Radio every week

ISLAMABAD, May 1 (APP): The government believes in reaching to the doorsteps of the public as it is a sacred responsibility to serve the people.

This was stated by Minister of State and Chairperson BISP Marvi Memon during a live interaction with callers on Radio Pakistan from all over Pakistan.

On the directions of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, Chairperson BISP goes live on Radio Pakistan every Friday along with Case Management Specialist Ahmer Athar, an official of BISP told APP.

FACE film festival concludes

ISLAMABAD May 1 (APP): A two-day Foundation of Arts, Culture and Education (FACE) film festival 2016 has been concluded here at Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA).

The festival was organized by FACE in collaboration with Bosnian and  French embassies.

The sole aim of the film festival was to bring Pakistani and international film makers, producers, the event features filmmakers, writers, actors, producers on one platform, who have come from within and outside the country to showcase their films to the Pakistani audience.

Bombings across Syria reveal ‘monstrous disregard’ for civilians: UN rights chief

UNITED NATIONS, May, 1 (APP): The United Nations human rights chief has said that the latest reports of civilian deaths and injuries in Syria, including bombings of marketplaces and medical facilities, reveal a “monstrous disregard for civilian lives by all parties to the conflict,” and called for urgent action to help the Syrian people.

“Reports are coming in from Aleppo, Homs, Damascus and Rural Damascus,  Idleb and Deir ez-Zour of mounting civilian casualties,” UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein said in a statement released by his Office (OHCHR).

“In Idleb last week, on 19 April, bombs were reportedly dropped in a vegetable market in Maarat al-Nu’man, the busiest area in town, during the busiest part of the day, killing at least 44 people and destroying dozens of shops. In the town of Kafr Nabel, bombs were again dropped on a market in the busiest area of the town, narrowly missing an after-school centre containing 50 children aged 6 to 10,” he added.

ISLAMABAD, April 30 (APP): Minister for Kashmir Affairs and
Gilgit Baltistan Chaudhry Muhammad Barjees Tahir Saturday said PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had accepted corruption and mismanagement in the Azad Kashmir government.

It transpired from the speech of Bilawal Bhutto in Kotli, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), that he was not happy with the local Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leadership and government of Azad Kashmir, the minister said in a statement.

He said the whole Kashmiri nation was aware about the reality of corruption in the projects about which the leadership of Peoples Party Azad Kashmir had told Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

Senate body seeks execution of CPEC western route

QUETTA, May 01 (APP): The Standing Committee of Senate of Pakistan on China Pak Economic Corridor (CPEC) has demanded of the federal government to ensure timely releases of funds for execution of western route of CPEC which would pass through Balochistan to connect port city of Gwadar.

A meeting of the committee held with its Chairman, Senator Daud Khan Achakzai in chair, here on Sunday which was also attended by its members including Senator Osman Khan Kakar, Senator Rozi Khan Kakar, Senator Inamul Hasan and senior officials.

Secretary Communication, Khalid Rauf and Member, National Highway Authority, Muhammad Yousaf Barakzai gave briefing to the committee on alignment of CPEC and Zhob Mughal Kot road project.

ISLAMABAD, April 30 (APP): British film “Far from the Madding Crowd” was screened here at Lok Virsa Media Studio on Saturday.

The Argentine Ambassador Rodolfo J. Martin Saravia, Sarwat Mohiuddin, and famous cartoonist Nigar Nazar were present on the occasion. The secreeing was organized by Lok Virsa Mandwa Film Club.

“Far from the Madding Crowd” is a 2015 British film directed by Thomas Vinterberg and starring Carey Mulligan, Mitthias Schoenaerts, Michael Sheen and Tom Sturridge.

LAHORE, April 30 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Saturday said despite all-out efforts by the opponents, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government always remained successful because of its development agenda.

“The political opponents are making criticism just for the sake of power. We are clean and clear and are struggling for an effective accountability even more than the opponents,” he said in a meeting with renowned intellectuals and senior journalists here on the targets and achievements of the government regarding development projects in the country.

Punjab Governor Rafiq Rajwana and Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Pervaiz Rashid, and other federal ministers attended the meeting, said a Prime Minister House press release.

Speaking at the Pakistan Advertisers Society (PAS) Awards 2016 here, the minister said he strongly believed that advertising significantly contributed towards the growth of economy.
