Youth arrested for doing wheelie

SIALKOT, Jun 08 (APP): A youth arrested for doing a wheelie near here on Sunday.
According to a police spokesperson, the incident occurred in the jurisdiction of Sambrial
Police Station where the police apprehended the accused, Zameer Shah, doing stunts
on a road.
His motorcycle was also confiscated on the spot.
A case has been registered against the accused and further investigation is underway.

Pak high-level delegation arrives in London

ISLAMABAD, June 08 (APP):  The nine-member high-level parliamentary delegation led by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, former foreign minister and Chairman Pakistan People’s Party, on Sunday arrived in London after completing successful visits to Washington and New York.  

The delegation has been appointed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to project Pakistan’s position on the recent clash with India and highlight the need for the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with UN Security Council Resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. 

The other members of the delegation include Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Dr. Musadik Masood Malik; Chairperson, Senate Standing Committee on Climate Change and Environmental Coordination and former Minister for Information and Climate Change, Senator Sherry Rehman; Chairperson, National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and former Foreign Minister, Hina Rabbani Khar; former Minister for Commerce, Defence and Foreign Affairs, Engineer Khurram Dastgir Khan; MQM’s Parliamentary Leader in the Senate and former Minister for Maritime Affairs, Senator Syed Faisal Ali Subzwari; and Senator Bushra Anjum Butt, a press release said.  

The delegation also includes two former foreign secretaries, ambassador Jalil Abbas Jilani, who also served as caretaker FM and ambassador Tehmina Janjua. 

In London, the delegation will hold meetings with the senior leadership of the UK Parliament, including All Parties Parliamentary Groups on Pakistan and Jammu and Kashmir. They will also meet with leadership and senior officials at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). 

The delegation members would extensively engage with leading think tanks and international media to highlight Pakistan’s efforts for regional peace. 

“During their visit, the delegation will highlight Pakistan’s responsible and restrained conduct – seeking peace with responsibility – in the face of India’s reckless and belligerent actions in violation of international law. They will also highlight that dialogue and diplomacy should take precedence over conflict and confrontation,” it was added.  

The delegation will underscore the imperative for the international community to play its due role in promoting a lasting peace in South Asia. The need for immediate resumption of the normal functioning of the Indus Waters Treaty will also be a key theme of the delegation’s outreach. 

CDA’s Zero-Waste Operation in full swing, over 1,362 tons of waste disposed efficiently

ISLAMABAD, Jun 8 (APP): As Muslims across the globe observe Eid-ul-Azha with religious fervor, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) is executing a large-scale sanitation operation in Islamabad to ensure a clean and hygienic environment during the festive period.
On the directions of Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi, CDA under the supervision of Muhammad Ali Randhawa Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad successfully conducting Zero Waste operation during three days of Eid ul Adha in Capital.
CDA in line with the leadership of Mohsin Naqvi Federal Minister for Interior and supervision of its Chairman, Muhammad Ali Randhawa is committed to ensuring cleanliness, beautification and development of the federal capital Islamabad by utilizing all its resources thus making Islamabad a model capital of the world.
Official CDA figures revealed that approximately 1,362.386 tons of offal and animal waste were collected and safely disposed of on the first day of Eid. Across Islamabad, over 81,000 animals—including 47,000 small and more than 33,000 large—were sacrificed on the first day alone.
To tackle the massive waste volume, over 2,500 sanitation workers, supervisors, and officers were deployed across all sectors on an emergency basis. The operation utilized more than 250 vehicles and heavy machinery, ensuring efficient and hygienic collection and disposal of remains.
The CDA spokesman stated that the operation was underway across all five zones of Islamabad, supported by a strong deployment of over 2,500 sanitation workers, supervisors, and officers.
“These teams are working on an emergency basis throughout the city, supported by a fleet of more than 250 vehicles and heavy machinery,” he added.
He informed that to safely and responsibly manage the massive volume of animal remains, the CDA has prepared over 107 disposal pits at 55 designated sites, adhering strictly to hygiene protocols. All offal and remains were being collected in biodegradable plastic bags and buried according to environmental and health safety standards.
“In rural areas of Islamabad, the cleanup effort continues through local Union Councils, also following the directives of the CDA Chairman. Assistant Commissioners have been directed to remain in close coordination with private and cooperative housing society managements to ensure comprehensive coverage of sanitation services,” the spokesman added.
The CDA spokesman stated that drone surveillance technology was utilized to monitor sanitation progress across various sectors. Additionally, rose water, phenyl, and lime sprays were applied in key collection and sacrifice areas to control odor and uphold hygienic conditions.
The spokesman further told that CDA has launched a public awareness campaign, urging citizens to avoid sacrificing animals in undesignated locations, and instead, use official sacrificial sites.
“Residents are requested to place animal offal in biodegradable bags near their homes for timely collection,” he urged.
CDA has activated a dedicated helpline (1334) to assist citizens, along with landlines (051- 9213908, 051- 9203216, 051-9211555). Residents can also submit complaints and pickup requests via WhatsApp/SMS at 0335-5001213 for swift resolution.
The spokesman mentioned that strict instructions have been issued advising citizens not to dispose of animal remains in drains, forests, garbage bins, or skips, as such actions pose health and environmental hazards.
Meanwhile, in an official statement, Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa emphasized that public cooperation was essential for maintaining a clean and disease-free environment.
He reaffirmed that the cleanliness action plan would remain in effect through the third day of Eid, ensuring sustained efforts to keep Islamabad clean.
The extensive sanitation drive has drawn praise from the public, with many citizens expressing satisfaction over the prompt removal of animal remains and the overall cleanliness of the city and commending the CDA for its swift and efficient management during the festive days.
They said, “CDA’s performance during the Eid days is exemplary, particularly during the challenging days of mass animal sacrifice.”
“We are grateful to CDA for their proactive role and effective plan of offal disposal and cleanliness of city, the festivities became more special,” they added.

Shehbaz Sharif extends Eid greetings to Federal Minister Salik Hussain

The prime minister extended heartfelt Eid-ul-Adha greetings to the federal minister. He also conveyed special Eid wishes for Pakistan Muslim League-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.
The prime minister inquired about Chaudhry Shujaat’s health and prayed for his swift recovery, expressing his sincere well wishes.
Chaudhry Salik Hussain, in return, conveyed Eid-ul-Adha greetings to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and thanked him for his kind sentiments.

DC inspects cleanliness drive

GUJRAT, Jun 08 (APP): Deputy Commissioner Safdar Hussain Virk visited the cleanliness awareness camp at Fawara Chowk and Inayat Park as a part of the “Clean Punjab” initiative launched under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
During the visit, the DC reviewed ongoing sanitation activities, staff presence,
and public awareness efforts.
He was briefed in detailed by Chief Officer of the Municipal Committee Khaliq Dad and Director of Waste Management Waseem Asadullah.
DC Virk interacted with sanitation workers, appreciated their efforts, and supervised the distribution of food among the staff.
He emphasized that providing a clean environment was the top priority of the district administration, especially during the Eid holidays.
He also appealed to the public to support the cleanliness campaign and help maintain a hygienic environment in their surroundings.

Pak Consul General meets Mufaddal Saifuddin

ISLAMABAD, June 08 (APP): Hussain Muhammad, Consul General of Pakistan in Dubai, Sunday called on Sultan Al Bohra Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, the 53rd spiritual leader of the Dawoodi Bohra Muslim community, in Sharjah to extend Eid Al Adha greetings. 

During the meeting, Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin thanked the Consul General for the support extended by the Consulate in facilitating visit of Bohra community members from the UAE to Pakistan during last Muharram, a press release said.
