SIALKOT, Aug 08 (APP):A teenager electrocuted in Sui Gas wala Gala near Wahid Chowk,here on Friday.
According to a spokesperson, Samar(16) r/o Malkay Kalan, was operating a water motor when it reportedly short-circuited, causing a fatal electric shock and died on the spot.
Rescue 1122 reached on the spot, shifted the body to Allama Iqbal Memorial Hospital (AIMH).

Pak athlete Danish Elahi sets Guinness World Record

ISLAMABAD, Aug 08 (APP):In a remarkable display of cultural pride and athletic prowess, Pakistani athlete Danish Elahi has set a new Guinness World Record by completing the Boston Marathon in traditional shalwar kameez.
Elahi finished the race with a time of 3 hours and 26 minutes, marking the fastest time ever recorded in national attire, said a press release.
The achievement was celebrated by Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, who met with Elahi to honor his accomplishment. In recognition of Elahi’s outstanding achievement and his efforts to promote a positive image of Pakistan globally, the Secretary of the Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) presented him with a souvenir. The Secretary praised Elahi’s dedication to representing Pakistan with pride on an international stage.
Elahi also expressed his commitment to promoting sports within Pakistan. He announced his support for the newly constructed Padel Tennis Courts at Islamabad College for Girls (ICG), an initiative aimed at engaging youth and expanding sports opportunities.
This achievement not only highlights Elahi’s personal dedication but also serves as an inspiration for aspiring athletes across Pakistan, demonstrating that cultural identity and athletic excellence can go hand in hand.

PFA discards 4,000 litres of water-mixed milk

RAWALPINDI, Aug 08 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) in Rawalpindi discarded approximately 4,000 litres of water-mixed milk early on Friday morning.
According to the PFA spokesman, the teams checked 20 vehicles carrying milk at the Thallian and Chakri toll plazas and tested around 97,000 litres of milk.
The teams imposed a fine of Rs 200,000 on 10 vehicles carrying substandard milk, he added.
The PFA urged the public to lodge their complaints, if any, regarding food, bakery items, or milk at 1223.

Sindh Health minister meets Int’l delegation to review HPV campaign

KARACHI, Aug 08 (APP):Sindh Minister for Health & Population Welfare Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho chaired a high-level meeting with an international delegation and donor partners to review preparedness for the upcoming Human Papilloma-virus (HPV) vaccination campaign in the province.
The meeting was attended by EPI Project Director Dr. Raj Kumar, Additional Director EPI Dr. Sohail Raza Shaikh and a Gavi mission comprising Craig Beyerinck, Senior Program Manager and Emily Kobayashi, HPV Lead, also present were Sylvester Maleghemi, Technical Officer Immunization WHO, Dr. Khurram Akram, Director Federal Directorate of Immunization, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, and others.
Dr. Azra Pechuho emphasized that the HPV vaccination campaign is a vital public health initiative to protect girls from cervical cancer, a deadly disease caused by the Human Papilloma virus. She stressed the importance of strong campaign implementation, multi-stakeholder engagement, and community awareness, noting that these are essential for the campaign’s success. She also expressed appreciation for the unwavering support and commitment of Gavi and other donor partners.
Providing an update, Dr. Raj Kumar informed the forum that Sindh has completed micro-planning and recently convened its 5th Technical Working Group meeting, which saw active participation from diverse stakeholders including the Society of Obstetricians & Gynecologists Pakistan (SOGP), Pakistan Pediatric Association (PPA), civil society organizations, Girl Guides, Education Department, RMNCH program, PPHI, and all partner agencies—reflecting strong collective commitment.
Craig Beyerinck acknowledged the visible progress in Sindh’s preparations and urged that the remaining time be utilized effectively to engage all relevant stakeholders who can play a key role in ensuring the campaign’s success.
Dr. Khurram Akram reaffirmed the Federal Directorate of Immunization’s full support to Sindh, ensuring the timely supply of vaccines and logistics, and maintaining regular coordination with Technical Working Groups at both provincial and federal levels.
The HPV vaccination campaign in Sindh will target girls aged 9–14 years starting from September 15th, aiming to protect future generations from cervical cancer through timely immunization and robust community engagement.

Death sentence for wife’s murder

RAWALPINDI, Aug 08 (APP):In a significant court verdict, a criminal named Saqib Jameel has been sentenced to death for murdering his wife. The honorable court also imposed a fine of Rs. 500,000.0
According to details, Saqib Jameel killed his wife with a knife during a domestic dispute. The case was registered in August 2024 at Chakri Police Station. Due to solid evidence and effective prosecution, the court delivered a just verdict.
City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani while commending the investigative and legal teams for their efforts in securing the conviction in this serious case, reiterated police full resolve not to spare any effort in maintaining rule of law.

Governor visits Omani Consulate, launches tree plantation drive

KARACHI, Aug 08 (APP):Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori visited the Consulate of the Sultanate of Oman on Friday, where he was received by Consul General Sami Abdullah Al Khanjari and other diplomatic staff.
The event was also attended by the Consuls General of the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar, along with President of FGRF, Abdul Habib Attari.
Under the Governor Sindh Initiative, a tree plantation campaign was held at the Omani Consulate. Governor Tessori and distinguished diplomats planted saplings, reaffirming their commitment to a greener Pakistan and promoting an eco-friendly message.

CM attends National flag hoisting ceremony at Quaid Azam House Museum

KARACHI, Aug 08 (APP):Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah visited the Quaid-e-Azam House Museum on Friday as part of the provincial government’s celebrations marking Independence Day and “Marka-e-Haq.”
According to the CM House spokesperson, special children welcomed the chief minister with flowers upon his arrival. He was received by Provincial Culture Minister Zulfiqar Shah, DEPD Secretary Taha Farooqui, and Culture Secretary Khair Muhammad.
During the ceremony, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah hoisted the national flag alongside special children. The event was attended by film star Javed Sheikh, veteran actor Ayub Khoso, and the parents of the participating children.
Special children performed a national song, playing both the melody and the instruments themselves. They also presented colourful tableaux on Sindhi, Punjabi, Balochi, and Pashto cultural songs, adding a vibrant touch to the celebration.

DPO conducts surprise visit to police stations

GUJRAT, Aug 08 (APP):District Police Officer (DPO) Gujrat Rana Umar Farooq conducted a surprise late Thursday night visit to city and Saddar police stations in Jalalpur Jattan to review operations.
According to a spokesperson,he inspected officers’ attendance,police record registers, front desk functioning and cleanliness of the premises.
The DPO directed staff to maintain discipline,ensure transparency in official matters and provide timely public service.
