RCB organized cleanliness awareness walk

RAWALPINDI, Dec 02 (APP):Under the auspices of the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB), a walk was held on Bank Road in connection with Cleanliness Week. The walk was led by Deputy CEO Nasir Kamal. Sanitary inspectors from all wards, sanitary supervisors, and cleaning staff participated, along with a large number of traders and the general public.
The purpose of this campaign was to inform citizens that keeping the cantonment clean is our important duty, and that we must all work together to fulfill this responsibility so that residents of the cantonment can enjoy a clean and healthy environment.
On this occasion, the residents of the cantonment pledged their full cooperation. The walk aimed to highlight the importance of cleanliness and to promote awareness about keeping the cantonment clean.
Participants carried banners and placards. CEO Aamer Rashid said that the purpose of the walk was to raise awareness among people about cleanliness so that the beauty of the cantonment can be maintained.
He urged citizens and traders to take special care of cleanliness and avoid throwing garbage in the open; instead, they should dispose of it in designated dustbins.
Deputy CEO emphasized that a clean environment not only contributes to social beauty but also guarantees a healthy society. He appealed to citizens to dispose of waste at designated locations and to support the efforts of the Cantonment Board regarding cleanliness.
At the end of the walk, participants expressed their commitment to keeping the cantonment clean. The cleanliness campaign will continue from December 1 to December 6.

Pak’s Financial Technology sector witnesses’ significant progress: Forbes reported

ISLAMABAD, Dec 02 (APP): American Business Magazine Forbes while highlighting improvements in Pakistan’s IT sector reported that investment in Pakistan’s financial technology sector has doubled to $ 26.3 million in 2024.
Forbes in its released a report said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the economic reforms of Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, and the efforts of Federal IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Pakistan’s journey toward financial technology is advancing rapidly.
Pakistan’s shift toward financial technology is accelerating due to the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the efforts of Federal IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja.
The Pakistan Startup Fund, the flagship program of the Ministry of IT, is providing equity-free grants to attract venture capital. In the first six months of 2025, investment in the sector further jumped to $52.5 million, indicating a clear sign of strong recovery.
This rapid growth witnessed in the sector is owing to the government reforms and strong regulatory support. The government’s digitalization agenda is strengthening investor confidence.
Equity-free grants issued under the Pakistan Startup Fund, operating under the Ministry of Information Technology, are playing a key role in increasing investor interest.

IGP Rizvi meets newly appointed SS Prisons Ali Akbar

ISLAMABAD, Dec 02 (APP): Ali Akbar, newly appointed as the first Senior Superintendent of Prisons (SS Prison) for the Federal Prison of Pakistan, held a meeting with Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi to review progress on the Islamabad Model Jail and discuss its early operationalization.

A police spokesperson told APP on Tuesday that significant progress has been made regarding the Islamabad Model Jail following the special directives issued by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. Ali Akbar’s appointment as the first SS Prison marks a major administrative step toward establishing the country’s first federal-level prison facility.
During the meeting, the IG Prisons and the IGP Islamabad issued directions to expedite all processes required to make the Model Jail functional at the earliest. They emphasized that duties must be performed with a reformative approach, keeping in mind the principle: “A saint has a past, and a sinner has a future.”
Once the federal jail becomes operational, all detainees and prisoners linked to Islamabad’s cases will be housed in the Islamabad Model Jail. With this development, there will be no further need to transfer Islamabad-related accused persons to prisons in other districts.

Multan region records sharp decline in property-related crime

MULTAN, Dec 02 (APP): A consistent and significant reduction in property-related crime has been recorded in the Multan Region over the past three years, reflecting the effectiveness of police strategy, enhanced patrolling, and prompt response mechanisms, according to a report issued by the Regional Police Public Relations Department on Wednesday.
A police spokesperson said that crime-against-property calls have continued to decline each year due to improved intelligence-based operations, strict monitoring of suspicious activities, and deployment of modern patrolling systems across all districts of the region.
According to official data, 35,747 calls related to property crime were recorded in 2023. The number decreased to 32,863 in 2024 and dropped further to 24,073 in 2025, marking a record improvement.
The spokesperson added that the three-year downward trend demonstrates the success of the region’s policing strategy, which has strengthened public confidence and significantly curtailed criminal elements. Effective beat patrolling, rapid response units, and coordinated intelligence sharing were key factors in suppressing criminal activity.
He further stated that 2025 emerged as a landmark year in crime control, with an exceptional reduction in calls representing the dedication, professionalism, and operational coordination of Multan Region Police.
The Multan Region Police reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying efforts for citizens’ safety and pursuing the complete elimination of crime through sustained vigilance and proactive policing.

PM invites Turkish companies to increase investment in Pakistan’s energy sector

ISLAMABAD, Dec 2 (APP): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday expressing satisfaction at the positive trajectory of bilateral relations, reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to further expanding cooperation with Türkiye, particularly in the energy sector.

The prime minister was talking to Turkish Minister of Energy & Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar who called on him here at the PM House.

He noted with satisfaction that Turkish Petroleum had joined offshore and onshore exploration activities in Pakistan, marking a major milestone in bilateral energy cooperation. He also extended an invitation to Turkish companies to increase their investment footprint in Pakistan’s energy market.

While underscoring the historic and fraternal ties between Pakistan and Türkiye, the prime minister emphasized on the importance of expanding collaboration between Pakistan and Türkiye in energy, petroleum, and mineral sectors.

While fondly recalling his numerous interactions with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan this year, the prime minister underscored the need to ensure close coordination between the two sides in view of the fast evolving regional and global environment.

It was agreed between the two sides that a Ministerial delegation from Pakistan will visit Turkiye soon to explore further cooperation between the two countries especially in the field of energy and power sector.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik, Minister for Power Sardar Awais Khan Leghari, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi, and senior government officials.

The two leaders also witnessed exchange of Memorendums of understanding and agreements between Turkiye and Pakistan in the field of mining, i.e, Deed of assignment -Eastern Offshore Indus-C, Petroleum Concession agreement Ziarat North Block, Petroleum Concession agreement Sukhpur-II Block, Petroleum Concession agreement Deep C block and Offshore Deep F Block.

Woman killed, son injured over family dispute

FAISALABAD, Dec 02 (APP): A woman was killed and her son injured in a village within Tehsil Jaranwala Saddar police limits on Tuesday.
According to police sources, the victim, Shehnaz Bibi, along with her son Mohsin, was present at the home of her daughter-in-law, who had come there for reconciliation, at Chak No 125-GB. Allah Dittah, Ibrahim, and other family members of the daughter-in-law allegedly tortured both mother and son.
As a result, Shehnaz Bibi died on the spot, while her son Mohsin sustained injuries and was rushed to hospital.
