Amir Khan to miss out on a bout with Manny Pacquiao

0

ISLAMABAD, Dec 31 (APP): Pakistan-origin British boxer Amir Khan is set to miss out on a bout with Manny Pacquiao after the Filipino agreed to fight Timothy Bradley in April.
Khan had hoped to land a fight with Pacquiao after missing out on a scrap against Floyd Mayweather earlier this year, when the American chose to face Andre Berto in his 49th and final professional outing.
But Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum has revealed his fighter will face Bradley in the spring. “It’s a done deal and it’s going to be a third fight against Timothy Bradley,” Arum was quoted as saying by British website mirror.co.uk on Thursday.
“We took a lot of consideration knowing Bradley has improved a lot as a fighter since the last time they met in 2014.”
“Bradley is happy about it of course and that’s really a competitive fight for Manny,” he added.
Khan may now have to turn his attentions towards a lucrative summer showdown against Sheffield fighter and unbeaten IBF world champion Kell Brook.
As for Pacquiao, he had hinted his next fight would be his last following his points defeat to Mayweather in May this year, but Arum doesn’t expect that to be the case.
“It’s not going to be Manny’s last fight because anything could still happen and you know Manny,” he added. “That’s why we won’t sell it that way. I don’t think it is Manny’s last fight.”
Khan was part of a three-man shortlist to be Pacquiao’s next opponent, along with the rising star of US boxing Terence Crawford.
