Prime Minister arrives in Smarkand to visit historic sites
SAMARKAND, Nov 18 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif arrived here Wedensday to visit one of the oldest inhabited cities of the Central Asia.
The Prime Minister reached here on second leg of two-day visit of Uzbekistan as he passed busy Tuesday in Tashkent where he met President Islam Karimov, Prime Minister Shavkat Mirziyayev and discussed bilateral and regional matters of mutual interests.
On his arrival at Samarkand airport, the Prime Minister was received by
Uzbek Prime Minister Shavkat Mirziyayev, also minister-in-waiting, and Samarkand’s Governor Zair Tairov.
Two girls, clad in beautiful tradition dresses presented bouquets to the
guest.The airport building was adorned with national flags of both the countries. Samarkand, traditionally was the second-largest city in Uzbekistan and the capital of Samarqand Region.
The Prime Minister is accompanied by spouse Begum Kulsoom Nawaz and
delegation comprising Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi and National Security Advisor Lt. Gen. (Retd) Nasser Khan Janjua.
During the day, the Prime Minister will visit Samarkand city, mausoleums
of Imam Bukhari and Amir Taimur Lang, Mirzo Ulugbek Observatory and Registan Square.
Governor of Samarkand will also host a luncheon reception in the Prime
Minister’s honor.
Later, the Prime Minister will fly to Islamabad culminating his visit to
the brotherly country.
