ISLAMABAD, 16 Dec (APP): The staggering increase in number of private schools and academies in twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad shows that education sector has rapidly becoming one of the leading commercialized sectors of the country.

It seems to become a common phenomenon that private institutions are often being administrated by local businessmen who make tall claims for giving quality education and attract people by using novel techniques of publicity.

Pak-Afghan ties critical aspect of stability in Afghanistan, US Defense Report

WASHINGTON, Dec 16 (APP): The relationship between Pakistan and the  Afghan government remains a critical aspect of enhancing security and stability in Afghanistan, according to a latest report by the U.S.  Defence Department.

The report was submitted by the Defense Department to the Congress on  Monday and covers the period between June 1 through November 30, 2015.

UN chief marks anniversary of attack on APS, praises students’ resilience

UNITED NATIONS, Dec 16 (APP): UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon Wednesday  marked the first anniversary of the deadly terrorist attack on the Army Public School (APS) in Peshawar, saying no cause justifies brutality against children.

“No grievance excuses the horror and cowardice of attacking defenceless  children while they learn,” the UN chief said in a message released by his office.

The Secretary-General said, “I join with all of you in honouring the  many lives lost in the horrific terror attack on the APS in Peshawar on  December 16, 2014.I    extend my thoughts and good wishes to the family, friends and loved ones of all the victims”.

“One year later, I know the pain and sorrow of this utterly
senselessness act remains fresh.So does the outrage.No cause justifies such brutality”.
“I have been deeply moved by the resolve and resilience of students as  they returned to school just weeks after the attack.Through that simple act, they have shown the power of education, hope and peace”.

“Going to school should not have to be an act of bravery.Schools must  be safe and secure learning spaces.Thank you for coming together to remember the fallen students and recommit to ensuring the right to safe and quality education for all.”
