SECP issues directive to protect insurance policyholders

ISLAMABAD, Feb 1 (APP): In order to raise awareness among the public about availability of the insurance policyholders’ grievance resolution forums, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has issued a circular requiring all insurers to incorporate awareness message in Urdu and English on their websites, and to attach it with all forms issued to the policyholders.

FBR collects Rs 209 bln to surpass Rs 205 bln target for Jan

ISLAMABAD, Feb 1 (APP): During January, 2016, according to the provisional figures received so far, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has made a net collection of around Rs. 209 billion as against Rs. 171 billion collected during January, 2015 showing an increase of 22%. The target for the month was fixed at Rs. 205 billion which has also been achieved,said a statement issued by FBR here Monday.

Pakistan committed to successfully implement macroeconomic stability programme: Dar

ISLAMABAD, Feb 1 (APP): Finance Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Monday said that Pakistan was committed to successfully implement the macroeconomic stability programme announced by the government in June 2013. He stated this while attending the meeting in connection with Tenth Review under International Monetary Fund (IMF’s) Extended Fund Facility in Dubai today. According to a message received here from Dubai, Finance Minister, Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Monday attended the meetings being held in Dubai in connection with the IMF’s Extended Fund Facility (EFF).

PM lauds role of Pak Navy

He said the government would take all possible steps to further strengthen the Pakistan Navy. He was talking to Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah, who called on him at the PM House. PM extends Essential Services Maintenance Act to PIA

PM condemns blast in Quetta

ISLAMABAD, Feb 1 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Monday extended the Essential Services Maintenance Act 1952 to Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) for six months. According to a statement from the PM’s Office, the Prime Minister approved the summary of the Aviation Division. The PIA employees had announced a strike against the proposed privatization of the national flag carrier from Feb 2.

PML N govt has revived PIA: Pervaiz

ISLAMABAD, Feb 1 (APP): Minister for Information,Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid Monday said the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML N) government had revived PIA during the last two and a half years. Talking to reporters after inaugurating the 4th Art and Cultural Exhibition here at Lok Virsa, being held to commemorate the 37th anniversary of Iranian revolution, he said the PIA losses had touched Rs 30 billion mark in 2013, and the government during its tenure had improved its health.
