President grieved over death of Intizar Hussain
ISLAMABAD, Feb 2 (APP): President Mamnoon Hussain Tuesday expressed deep grief and sorrow over the sad demise of renowned writer and intellectual Intizar Hussain. The President said with his death, the country lost an eminent Urdu writer. The President said that Intizar Hussain through his celebrated works promoted Urdu literature and his services in this regard would be remembered forever.
President for addressing issues of small, medium industries
ISLAMABAD, Feb 2 (APP): President Mamnoon Hussain on Tuesday called for addressing the issues of small and medium industries and urged upon chambers of commerce and industry to play a constructive role for resolving their problems. He emphasized that measures should be taken to increase the country’s exports and hoped that through their hard work traders and industrialists can bolster exports manifold. PM reviews Sahiwal coal power plant
LAHORE, Feb 2 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday reviewed pace of work on 1320 MW Coal Power Project, Qadirabad, Sahiwal district. The project consists of two plants of 660 MW each while the total cost of the project is USD 1.8 billion. The entire investment of the project is being made by Chinese bank through the Chinese Independent Power Producers (IPPs) executing the Sahiwal Coal Power Project. The project is sprawled over 1700 acres. The project was started six months ago and Huaneng Shandong Group China is to complete 51 percent of the project while the remaining 49 percent work will be completed by Shandong Rayi Science China.

SECP issues directive to protect insurance policyholders
ISLAMABAD, Feb 1 (APP): In order to raise awareness among the public about availability of the insurance policyholders’ grievance resolution forums, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has issued a circular requiring all insurers to incorporate awareness message in Urdu and English on their websites, and to attach it with all forms issued to the policyholders.
FBR collects Rs 209 bln to surpass Rs 205 bln target for Jan
ISLAMABAD, Feb 1 (APP): During January, 2016, according to the provisional figures received so far, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has made a net collection of around Rs. 209 billion as against Rs. 171 billion collected during January, 2015 showing an increase of 22%. The target for the month was fixed at Rs. 205 billion which has also been achieved,said a statement issued by FBR here Monday.
Pakistan committed to successfully implement macroeconomic stability programme: Dar
ISLAMABAD, Feb 1 (APP): Finance Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Monday said that Pakistan was committed to successfully implement the macroeconomic stability programme announced by the government in June 2013. He stated this while attending the meeting in connection with Tenth Review under International Monetary Fund (IMF’s) Extended Fund Facility in Dubai today. According to a message received here from Dubai, Finance Minister, Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Monday attended the meetings being held in Dubai in connection with the IMF’s Extended Fund Facility (EFF).
