Japanese PM condemns terrorist attack in Lahore

ISLAMABAD Mar 28 (APP): Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe Monday  strongly condemned the terror attack in Lahore on Sunday and expressed its support to Pakistan in its fight against terrorism. “Japan strongly condemns this terror attack and expressed his support to the Government and the people of Pakistan fighting against terrorism,”   Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said in his message of condolence to Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, according to a statement of the Japanese embassy here.

CM announces financial assistance to blast victims

LAHORE, Mar 28 (APP): Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has announced financial assistance of one million rupees each for the families of persons who lost their lives in the tragic incident at Gulshan e Iqbal Park tragedy. Punjab government will pay three lakh rupees each to the seriously injured while financial assistance of 1.5 lakh rupees will be given to those who had received minor injuries.

Members FATA Reforms Committee visit Kurram, Orakzai agencies

PESHAWAR, March 28 (APP): Members of FATA Reforms Committee headed by Advisor to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz Monday visited Orakzai and Kurram tribal agencies to seek suggestions and recommendations from the tribal parliamentarians and elders about the proposed reforms in tribal areas including determining administrative structure of the FATA.  In Parachinar, headquarters of Kurram Agency, the member of Reform Committee including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Zafar Iqbal Jhagra, Federal Minister for SAFRON Abdul Qadir Baloach, Federal Minister Zahid Hamid and Advisor to Prime Minister on National Security Lt Gen Nasir Janjowa, MNA Kurram Agency Sajid Tori and Senator Sajjad Hussain Tori attended the meeting.

UNITED NATIONS, March 27 (APP): Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, on a visit to Iraq — his eighth as the UN chief — has said he was impressed by the progress made, particularly against the Islamic State of Iraq and  the Levant, or Da’esh, but warned that he remains extremely concerned about the enormous challenges the country faces.”National reconciliation is an important part of the strategy to  defeat Da’esh, who have ruthlessly exploited divisions and targeted the marginalized and disenfranchised,” the secretary-general said at a  press conference following a meeting with Iraq’s Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari and other government representatives on Saturday.

RAWALPINDI March 27 (APP):Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Sunday late chaired a high level security meeting, Director Generaal Inter Services Lt. General Asim Saleem Bajwa tweeted. Among others, Director General (DG) Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), DG Military Intelligence attended the meeting. Having evaluated initial information, COAS directed concerned commanders and intelligence agencies to commence operations as soon as possible to find linkages and perpetrators of Lahore suicide attack.

President strongly condemns terrorism in Lahore

ISLAMABAD, Mar 27 (APP): President Mamnoon Hussain Sunday strongly condemned the act of terrorism at Gulshan Iqbal Park in Lahore and said that such cowardice acts could not shake the  nation’s resolve against the menace of extremism and terrorism. He said security and safety to the life and property of each citizen would be ensured and the operation Zarb-e-Azb would  continue till elimination of the terrorism.

Rana urges youth to play role in country’s progress

LAHORE, Mar 27 (APP): Federal Minister for Defence Production and Science & Technology, Rana Tanveer Hussain on Sunday urged the youth to play their role in the progress and prosperity of the country by excelling in the fields of science and technology. Addressing a meeting of Narowal Narang community held here at Cosmopolitan Club, Bagh e Jinnah, he said the government was supporting the youth through various educational, skill, science and technology scholarship programmes. He revealed that soon a COMSAT university would be established near Narang Manadi which would facilitate youth of the area in getting education in science and technology.

MOHR to hold symposiums, workshops to educate youth on HR: Barrister ZafarUllah

Chairing a high level meeting he said, “it is the need of the hour to sensitize and educate the youth of the country on the importance of human rights”. The meeting was attended by the officials of the ministry, said a news release issued here on Sunday.

He said their hearts bleed on Lahore tragedy, adding terrorists were committing cowardly acts after facing their defeat. The Prime Minister was chairing a high level meeting at the PM House to review security situation in the aftermath of Lahore incident.
