Political processes must accompany UN peacekeeping in conflict zones for attaining peace – Pakistan

UNITED NATIONS, Nov 7 (APP) – Pakistan has underscored the need for UN-sponsored political processes in the world’s conflict regions to promote peace, saying the world body’s peacekeeping operations cannot be a “standalone” activity.

Govt achieves remarkable economic turnaround :Ishaq Dar

ISLAMABAD, Nov 7 (APP): Finance Minister Senator Mohammad
Ishaq Dar here on Saturday said that a remarkable economic
turnaround has been achieved by the government which has been
recognized by all prominent financial institutions of the world.
The minister expressed these remarks while chairing a
meeting with senior officials of the Government of Punjab including
Chief Secretary Khizar Hayat Gondal, Secretary Food as well as
officials of the Finance Department. Finance Minister Punjab, Ayesha
Ghaus Pasha was also present on the occasion, said a press release
issued here.
Finance Minister Punjab on this occasion gave a detailed
presentation to the Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on the financial reforms being undertaken by the Punjab Government.
Dar appreciated the reforms process and assured the Punjab
Government of Federal Government’s full support in the reform
process.
The meeting also reviewed the implementation status of the
Prime Minister’s Kissan Package. Finance Minister Dar said that the
package is a manifestation of the importance that the present
government attaches to the well being of the farmers community in
the country. He emphasized effective implementation of the package
and said that all necessary measures should be taken in this regard.
He further expressed the hope that all officials concerned
would do their best to enable farmers community in the province
avail benefits of the Kissan package.
