MULTAN, Apr 12 (APP)::Abbottabad Region scored 272 runs in
first innings of Quaid-e-Azam trophy Grade-II, played at Multan
Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
Multan region won the toss and decided to bowl first.
Abbottabad region scored 272 runs for loss of nine wickets in 83
overs as Khalil-Ullah remained highest scorer with 117 runs not
out while Nasir Khan added 59 runs in the total.
Saeed Anwar Jr and Zulfiqar Babar from Multan region took three
wickets each.
Multan Region started its first innings and could score 27 runs
for loss of two wickets till end of first day of three days
match.
Kashif Sohail and Muhammad Arshad were umpires, Sohail Khan
referee and Muhammad Akbar scorer.

Pakistan Ambassador to Saudi Arabia meets OIC Secretary General
ISLAMABAD, Apr 12 (APP):The Ambassador of Pakistan to Saudi Arabia Khan Hasham bin Saddique met the OIC Secretary General Dr. Yousaf A. Al-Othaimeen at the OIC secretariat in Jeddah.
Khan Hasham bin Saddique thanked the OIC Secretary General for his statement on the recent violence by the Indian forces against the innocent Kashmiris and condemning the acts of aggression, said a message received here on Thursday.
The Ambassador briefed the Secretary General on the current situation in Indian Held Kashmir and the atrocities being committed by the occupying forces. He said that Kashmir and Palestine are the two major and long standing issues being faced by the Muslim Ummah.
Khan Hasham bin Saddique appreciated the continued support of OIC for Kashmir and its just resolution in accordance with the UNSC resolutions. The Ambassador delivered a letter from the Foreign Minister of Pakistan highlighting the grave humanitarian situation in Indian held Kashmir.
The OIC Secretary General Dr. Yousaf A. Al-Othaimeen appreciated the meaningful role played by Pakistan in the OIC. He said that the OIC is voice of Kashmiris.
The OIC Secretary General reiterated the OIC’s stance on Kashmir dispute and said that peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue according to the wishes of Kashmiri people and in accordance with the UNSC resolutions would bring durable peace in the region.
Ambassador Hasham appreciated the vibrant role played by the OIC Secretary General in making OIC an active platform. The issues of utilization of scholarship by the students from member countries and holding of socio cultural events amongst the member state were also discussed.
The Consul General of Pakistan Shehryar Akbar Khan and Deputy Consul General Shaiq Bhutto were also present on the occasion.
Calligraphy exhibition to start on Friday
FAISALABAD, Apr 12 (APP)::Abdul Majeed Parveen Raqam National Calligraphy Exhibition will be held at a local hotel here on Friday
and Saturday.
The show will be organised under the aegis of National History and Literary Heritage Division (NHLHD) and National Language Promotion Department (NLPD).
Advisor to Prime Minister on National History and Literary Heritage division Irfan Siddiqui will inaugurate the exhibition.
SBP to hold month long swimming training camp
LAHORE, Apr 12 (APP):Sports Board Punjab (SBP) will conduct swimming training and coaching camp for beginners at state-of-the-art Punjab International Swimming Complex from April 16.
Secretary Sports Punjab Muhammad Aamir Jan said on Thursday that International ASCA Level-3 certified coaches and consultants will supervise the camp.
“Our passionate, skilled and experienced coaches will impart the training of basic swimming skills, all strokes and techniques through video analysis, bio mechanics and advanced drills,” he added.
“The aspiring swimmers of 5 to 16 years age can register themselves for training camp till April 15, 2018. Registration forms are available at Punjab International Swimming Complex,” he added.
The camp will continue till May 15 and the timing of the course will be 5pm to 7pm from Monday to Friday.
Shipping Activity at Port Qasim
KARACHI, Apr 12 (APP):Shipping activity remained brisk at the Port where five ships including DA Kang, Da Dan Xia and
Tiamat Gas carrying General cargo and LPG were arranged berthing at Multi purpose Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal on Wednesday.
While three more ships, White Purl, Khor Gas and Arctic Aurora with LPG and LNG also arrived at outer anchorage of Port during last 24 hours.
A total of nine ships namely, Mehun, MSC Al-Ghero, DA Kang, Da Dan Xia, Pacific Talent, Azizi, Ruby Star, Tiamat Gas and Corona were occupying PQA berths to load/offload Containers, General cargo, Soya Bean seeds, Coal, LPG and Palm oil respectively during last 24 hours.
A cargo volume of 90,378 tonnes, comprising 47,780 tonnes import cargo and 42,598 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 3,906 Containers (TEUs), (1,664 TEUs imports and 2,242 TEUs exports) was handled at the Port during last 24 hours.
Container vessel MSC Al-Ghero sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while four more ships, Mehun, Da Dan Xia, Pacific Talent and Corona were expected to sail on same day in the afternoon.
Five ships MSC Susanne, Bar Bounty, Endeavour Strait, Arctic Aurora and Nagig-8 Sky scheduled to load/offload Containers, Sand, Coal, LNG and Palm were expected to take berths at QICT, MW-1, MW-4, PGPCL and LCT respectively on Thursday.

Secretary General Patrick Baumann have congratulated Brig (retd) Muhammad Iftikhar Mansoor
and Khalid Bashir for being elected as the president and secretary general of
Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF) for a period of four years 2018-2021.

Meanwhile, International Olympic Committee has allotted a Coaching Course to the Pakistan Basketball Federation which would help in raising the standard of basketball in the country.
Nabi Yousaf Memorial Professional Golf Championship
LAHORE, Apr 12 (APP):A galaxy of golf professionals of the country will be seen in action during Nabi Yousaf Memorial Professional Golf Championship here from Friday at Royal Palm Golf and Country Club.
This was stated by Ahmed Iqbal Saeed, Vice President Operations of Royal Palm Club, at a press conference at the Royal Palm Golf Club, also attended by Abdullah Sharif, Captain Golf, Col (retd) Jameel Khalid,Director Golf and Khawaja Pervaiz Saeed, Director Media.
Ahmed Iqbal further said the event was an annual feature of the golf calendar of Pakistan and being an exclusive event for golf professionals only, it carries enormous significance for the golf professionals of the country.
For the golf professionals ,the Nabi Yousaf Memorial Open Championship provides them an opportunity to have the honor of playing at an attractive and incomparable golf course and to get attractive cash award.
Abdullah Sharif ,Captain Golf said that the championship bears the name Nabi Yousaf which is a combination of two icons of the well known Ramzan Sheikh Family.Nabi was the family elder while Yousaf was his son.
Col Jameel highlighted that premier aspect of event is that it is open to the top golf professionals of the country only and 86 top ranked professionals will feature in the event which offers Rs two million cash prize to be distributed amongst forty top position holders.

Three day literary festival under way at UoS
SARGODHA, April 12 (APP)::A three day literary festival for exploring and promotion of literary and cultural aspects of society is in progress at the University of Sargodha.
Renowned academician, writers and journalists on the occasion spoke about the role of culture and literature in maintaining peace and tranquility amongst society.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Dr Ishtiaq Ahmed stated that status co power structure always tries to influence culture and literature, produced by a society. War is an expression of power while knowledge, or more correctly, peace, is the negation of power.
Veteran columnist and political analyst Wajahat Masood, while delivering his talk, opined that although religion has significant impressions over culture, yet both terms should not be confused with each other because beliefs and traditions are one of the many components of culture.
Dr Nasir Abbas contended that these three terms, culture, peace and literature are interlinked and have equal impact on one another.
Literature promotes peace and peace is the thing necessary for any culture to flourish and progress.
Dr Tabassum Kashmiri, a veteran academician who served a Japanese university for almost thirty years, stated that ruling power exerts great influence on culture of the subject state and its impact on the thinking of artists and writers could be ignored.

NA passes bill ‘ Prevention of Smuggling Migrants Bill 2018
ISLAMABAD, Apr 12 (APP):National Assembly on Thursday passed the Bill ‘Prevention of Smuggling of Migrants Bill 2018’
moved by Parliamentary Secretary for Interior Afzal Khan Dhandla.
The primary purpose of this act is to prevent and combat smuggling of migrants.
Meanwhile two Ordinances were laid before the house today. These were: Anti-terrorism (Amendment) Ordinance and Protection of Economic Reforms (Amendment) Ordinance.
Minister for Education and Professional Training Baligh-ur-Rehman laid before the house, the Institute of Science and Technology Bahawalpur Bill, 2018.
