43 people die, 30 houses damaged  in floods, rains incidents in KP: PDMA

PESHAWAR, Aug 15 (APP):At least 43 people have lost their lives and 14 others injured in different incidents caused by rains and flash floods over the last 24 hours in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to Provincial Disasters Management Authority report, among the deceased are 33 men, two women, and eight children.
The injured include 11 men, two women, and one child.

PDMA in its preliminary report said that a total of 30 houses have been damaged including 25 partially and five completely destroyed.
According to the PDMA report, the current spell of heavy rain is expected to continue intermittently until August 21 and urged people on rivers banks side to adopt all precautionary measures.

Six people rescued safely from River Swat at Barikot

SWAT, Aug 15 (APP):As many as six people were safely rescued from flash floods in River Swat at Barikot area here on Friday.
District Emergency Officer, Rafiullah Marwat told reporters that in Barikot tehsil near the Ariana hotel at Dadhara area, six people stranded in beds of River Swat were swept by a sudden flash floods.
Upon receiving information about the incident, he said our water rescue team promptly reached the location.
Despite the strong and rapid current, he said the rescue personnel demonstrated professional expertise and rescued all the six drowning people.
He advised citizens to avoid going near rivers beds and seasonal streams, especially during the rainy season, to ensure their safety and avoid human losses.

PM strongly condemns terrorist attacks on police stations, check posts in KP

ISLAMABAD, Aug 15 (APP): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday strongly condemned terrorist attacks on police stations and check posts in various cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The prime minister praised the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and Counter-Terrorism Department for successful operation in which three terrorists were killed.

The prime minister payed homage to the police personnel martyred in the terrorism incidents and prayed for the elevation of the ranks of the martyrs’ souls in Jannah and offered his heartfelt condolences to their families.

PM Shehbaz also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured and directed to provide all possible medical assistance to them.

“Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police have played the role of a frontline force in the fight against terrorism,” he said adding that the government was determined to completely uproot all forms of terrorism from the country.

PHA organizes ‘Fireworks, musical night’ on eve of Independence Day

SARGODHA, Aug 15 (APP):On the occasion of Pakistan’s Independence Day,the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Sargodha organized a fireworks and musical night at the main office lawn,celebrating the spirit of freedom with vibrant displays of culture and patriotism.
According to media consultant PHA Shafqat Awan, the event was marked by breathtaking fireworks,filling the night sky with a dazzling array of colors,much to the delight of the attendees.
He said the authority also arranged musical night as well in which the local singers sung patriotic songs which created enthusiasm among the audience.
The lawn was decorated with beautiful floral arrangements and festoons, creating a lively atmosphere and large number of families visited the ceremony,he said.
The Director General(DG)PHA Muhammad Arshad Chaudhary said that the event not only entertained but also served as a reminder of the sacrifices made for the country’s independence.

ANF recovers over 63 kg of drugs worth Rs 24.6 million in 10 operations

RAWALPINDI, Aug 15 (APP):The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), conducting 10 operations across the country, recovered as many as 63 kilograms of drugs worth more than Rs 24.6 million and arrested 10 suspects, including a woman, said an ANF Headquarters spokesman on Friday.
He informed that 1 kg of heroin was recovered from a motorcyclist at the Motorway Toll Plaza in Islamabad.
As much as 250 grams of ice and 6 grams of cocaine were recovered from a motorcyclist in Rawalakot, Poonch District.
1200 grams of hashish and 5 grams of cocaine were recovered from a motorcyclist near Golra Mor, Islamabad.
Similarly,1200 grams of hashish were recovered from 2 motorcyclists in Mandra, Rawalpindi.
The arrested suspects confessed to selling drugs to students of educational institutions.
During other operations,192 grams of ice were recovered from a woman’s luggage going to Bahrain at Jinnah International Airport.
378 grams of ice-filled capsules were recovered from the stomach of a passenger going to Bahrain at Allama Iqbal International Airport.
As many as 22 grams of heroin were recovered from a parcel sent to the UK at the cargo shed of Allama Iqbal International Airport.
In another operation,5.550 kg of ice absorbed into clothes was recovered from a parcel sent to the UK from a courier office in Sohawa.
45.200 kg of opium was recovered from a vehicle in Khanozai Bazar, Tehsil Pishin and the accused was arrested.
As much as 9 kg of heroin was recovered from a truck near Deepalpur Road, Kasur and 2 accused were arrested.
Cases have been registered against the arrested suspects under the Narcotics Control Act, and further investigations are underway.

PFA unearths fake milk production unit

SARGODHA, Aug 15 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Friday unearthed a counterfeit milk production unit operating out of a house in Bhalwal,Sargodha,in a major crackdown on food adulteration.
According to a PFA spokesperson,the raid led to the seizure of a significant quantity of ingredients used to manufacture the synthetic milk.
During the operation,officials discovered and confiscated large amounts of dry powder,vegetable oil and an unidentified chemical.
More than one maund (approximately 40 kilograms) of the fabricated milk found at the scene was immediately discarded by the food authority’s team.
In addition to shutting down the illegal unit, the PFA initiated legal proceedings against the individuals involved.
An FIR was registered with the local police and a motorcycle used for supplying the counterfeit milk was impounded.
The spokesperson for the PFA stated that strict action was being taken against the accused, particularly as they were reportedly repeat offenders in food adulteration.
The PFA’s spokesman encouraged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspected food adulteration by contacting their helpline at 1223.

Chehlum processions of Hazrat Imam Hussain (A.S) under way under tight security

SARGODHA, Aug 15 (APP):Chehlum mourning processions and Majalis of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) was on its way under tight security arrangements in the district,here on Friday.
Police after following the instructions of the District Police officer (DPO) Muhammad Suhaib Ashraf,made fool proof security net to meet any untoward situation during the Chehlum duration.
Police spokesman informed that 13 processions were underway across the district including two of category A,two of category B and nine of category C whereas police was providing safe security shed to all .
The spokesman said that central procession has been started from Block no.14 and will be ended at Imam Bargah Dar-ul- Uloom Muhammadabad after passing through several roots.
The spokesman said that over 1000 police men were alert for the provision of tight security to mourners.
DPO himself was monitoring the security arrangements by remaining in the field.

Man arrested over display of firearms on social media

MUZAFFARGARH, Aug 15 (APP):Police on Friday arrested a suspect for displaying firearms in a video on social media.
According to the spokesperson,the suspect,identified as Muhammad Amjad,had displayed the weapon on the social media platform TikTok.
Police recovered one Kalashnikov rifle along with live rounds from the possession.
A case has been registered against the suspect.
