Three Indian-sponsored militants killed in Zhob, says Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi

ISLAMABAD, Aug 12 (APP):Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Tuesday lauded the country’s security forces for killing three more “Fitna-e-Hindustan” militants in Balochistan’s Zhob district, describing the operation as another blow to Indian-backed terrorism in the province.
Naqvi praised the professional skills and dedication of the forces, noting that their “remarkable successes against the terrorists of Fitna-e-Hindustan are a source of pride for the entire nation.”
According to the minister, the militants were involved in attempts to spread unrest in Balochistan and were backed by India. “The security forces have foiled a nefarious conspiracy to sabotage peace in the province,” he said.
“We salute our forces for neutralizing the evil designs of these terrorists. The entire nation stands united with our security personnel for the complete elimination of Indian-sponsored terrorism,” Naqvi added.

Asif through to semifinals with dominant win over Britain’s Cosker

CHENGDU, China, Aug 12 (APP):Pakistan’s Muhammad Asif delivered a masterclass performance in the billiards event on Tuesday, dismantling Britain’s Zac Cosker 2-0 in the quarterfinals of the World Games 2025.
The clinical victory at the Civil Aviation Flight University’s Tianfu Campus Gymnasium booked Asif’s place in the final four, keeping Pakistan’s medal hopes alive.
From the opening break, Asif imposed his will on the match, leaving his opponent scrambling. The first frame saw the Pakistani star construct a commanding 79-15 win through a combination of precise potting and tactical safety play that left Cosker frustrated. The second frame proved even more one-sided as Asif piled on the pressure with an 81-39 demolition, showcasing why he is considered one of the tournament’s most dangerous contenders.
“This wasn’t just about winning; it was about making a statement,” Asif told APP the match.
“When you reach this stage, every opponent is world-class.
“I’m looking forward to make a podium finish and give a gift to my nation on the Independence Day,” he added.
The victory marks Asif’s third consecutive win in Chengdu without dropping a single match, having previously defeated China’s Liang Xiaolong and Germany’s Alexander Widau.

China eager to help Belarus modernize cement plants, oil refineries

MINSK, Aug 12 (BelTA/APP): China has expressed interest in helping Belarus modernize cement plants and oil refineries. The matter was discussed during a meeting between Belarusian Deputy Economy Minister Alesya Abramenko and Li Guangyin, head of foreign economic and technical cooperation at China National Machinery Industry Corporation (CMIC), BelTA learned from the press service of the Economy Ministry of Belarus.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Architecture and Construction Ministry, the Belarusian State Concern for Oil and Chemistry (Belneftekhim Concern), the Belarusian Glass Company, Mozyr and Naftan oil refineries.

“The strategic partnership between our countries is based on industrial cooperation,” Alesya Abramenko noted. “Belarus’ expertise combined with China’s advanced technologies is a key element in building a shared future.” Li Guangyin delivered a company presentation, outlining CMIC’s key areas, innovative solutions and potential avenues for bilateral collaboration. The Chinese side confirmed its interest in helping Belarus its modernize its cement and oil refining facilities.

“Belarus’s industrial sector aims to build up its capabilities and assimilate new technologies, particularly in cooperation with China. For our part, we are keen to discuss practical areas of mutually beneficial cooperation,” Alesya Abramenko emphasized.

Lukashenko signs decree to facilitate development of cellular communication

MINSK, Aug 12 (BelTA/APP): August Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko signed Decree No. 301 “On the construction of cellular communication facilities”, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

The document was signed in order to develop the infrastructure of telecommunication networks, introduce new technologies, improve the quality and availability of services.

The decree creates the conditions to simplify the construction and maintenance of cellular mobile telecommunication facilities, engineering and transport infrastructure necessary to ensure their functioning. In addition, the acceptance procedures for putting such facilities into operation have been determined.

Kazakhstan, Serbia eye stonger political cooperation

ASTANA, Aug 12 (Kazinform/APP) : The third round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of Kazakhstan and Serbia took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Kazinform News Agency has learnt from the press service of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry.
During the event, the diplomats discussed a wide range of issues, including political cooperation, trade and economic relations, as well as cultural and humanitarian ties. They also reviewed the schedule of bilateral events and visits planned for the coming years.
In his remarks, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Arman Issetov stressed that Kazakhstan considers Serbia as an important political and economic partner in Europe. He expressed Astana’s readiness to further develop and expand bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
The head of the Serbian delegation, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Damjan Jović highlighted Kazakhstan as a key partner for Serbia in Central Asia and, in particular, emphasized the positive outcomes of the recent Intergovernmental Commission held in Almaty.
The diplomats also exchanged views on key international and regional issues and reaffirmed their shared commitment to close cooperation within multilateral frameworks and international organizations.
The parties agreed to maintain an active and productive dialogue between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and to continue joint efforts to strengthen trade, economic and investment relations, noted the importance of holding the next meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Business Council, as well as further developing the bilateral legal framework.
As reported previously, the book Journey to Childhood by Kazakh writer Berdibek Sokpakbayev had been donated to the Foundation of the Crown Princess of Serbia.

Over 147,800 family capital deposits opened in Belarus

MINSK, Aug 12 (BelTA/APP): As of 1 August 2025, a total of 147,858 large families have opened deposit accounts in Belarus under the family capital program, including 82,600 deposit accounts to the total amount of $826 million and 65,200 deposit accounts totaling Br1.72 billion, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Labor and Social Security Ministry.

As of 1 August 2025, a total of 97,220 families applied for permission to use family capital ahead of schedule. Of them, 78,673 applied to use the money to improve housing conditions, 10,655 to pay for healthcare services, 7,885 to pay for education and seven to buy health products for disabled people.

The ministry granted permission to use family capital earlier to 94,225 applicants. The regional breakdown is the following: Brest Oblast (20,017 families), Vitebsk Oblast (9,116), Gomel Oblast (15,011), Grodno Oblast (11,210), Minsk Oblast (16,190), Mogilev Oblast (9,520) and the city of Minsk (13,161).

The Labor and Social Security Ministry noted that the family capital program applies to families raising three and more children.

From 1 January till 31 December 2025 the family capital equals Br33,275.

Kazakh President, Armenian PM hold telephone talk

ASTANA, Aug 12 (Kazinform/APP) : Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has held a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, Kazinform News Agency reports citing the Akorda press service.
The Kazakh President warmly congratulated the Armenian Prime Minister on signing the Declaration on Establishment of Peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan in Washington, D.C.
The President said that the signing of this historic document became possible, among other things, thanks to the outstanding qualities of Nikol Pashinyan as a politician with a strong political will and strategic vision of the national interests of his state.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized that the Declaration opens the way to large-scale international cooperation in the South Caucasus and more intensive economic and investment interaction between Kazakhstan and Armenia.
He said that preparations for the official visit of the Prime Minister of Armenia to Kazakhstan, scheduled for the end of 2025, are underway in Astana.
“Kazakhstan is ready to further promote political dialogue between Armenia and Azerbaijan, providing its platform for negotiations,” said the Kazakh President.

Having expressed gratitude for the congratulation and warm words of support, Nikol Pashinyan briefed the Kazakh side about some aspects of the negotiation process to establish peace between the two states, noting the exceptional and important mediating role of the U.S. President Donald Trump.
Nikol Pashinyan positively assessed Kazakhstan’s efforts to reconcile Armenia and Azerbaijan. He also reaffirmed his readiness to visit Kazakhstan this year to sign new agreements on mutual cooperation. Earlier it was reported that Kazakh, Azerbaijani Presidents had telephone conversation.

Minor dies as wall collapses

MULTAN, Aug 12 (APP):A girl was killed as a wall collapsed on her near Nehal Wala area,Adda Bosan road on Tuesday.
According to rescue,the dilapidated wall of a single-brick kiln suddenly fell into the house,As a result,Fatima(8) died on the spot.
Rescue 1122 concerned reached on the spot,shifted the body to a nearby hospital.
Police handed over the body to the family after completing legal formalities.

Kazakhstan National Fund’s foreign currency assets reach year-to-date maximum

ASTANA, Aug 12 (Kazinform/APP) : Foreign currency assets of the National Fund of Kazakhstan reached 60 billion 590 million US dollars in July, the year’s high since November 2024, Kazinform News Agency reports.

According to the National Bank, the country’s currency resources grew by 2.98% compared to the beginning of the year.
Net international reserves of Kazakhstan rose since January by 15.54% to make 50.3 billion US dollars, while the volume of gold in reserves increased by 37.66% to 32.8 billion US dollars in equivalent.
To note, since early 2025, the assets of the National Fund have increased by 2.6% reaching 60.3 billion US dollars, according to the National Bank Governor Timur Suleimenov.
