He, in a meeting with British High Commissioner (BHC) Christian Turner the other day, said the life, property and prestige of the non-Muslims living in Pakistan was equally dear to us as the welfare and well-being of human beings is part of our religion.

He said the minority communities were enjoying the equal rights enshrined in the Constitution and in accordance with the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) which has no example in the world.

He said to prevent anti-Islamic and hateful events in the West, the promotion of mutual relations was indispensable adding, “Islam, Pakistan and people are against the religious extremism and misuse of the religion.”

Mufti Abdul Shakoor said hostile agencies were trying to spread unrest in Pakistan through unemployment and misuse of religion.

The minister said our region had been suffering from instability for 40 years due to special interests of foreign powers.

He said Pakistan had already a weak economy and it was further affected by the terrorism, climate change and refugees.

The minister said the world should help in creating health, education, employment opportunities in Pakistan. “War is not a solution of the problems as they can be settled down with open-minded and result-oriented negotiations.

He said Afghan government was not against the girls’ education as its main problems are peace, security and international interference. Meanwhile BHC Christian Turner said the United Kingdom (UK) committed to promoting regional peace, economy, interfaith harmony and bilateral relations.

He said the promotion of strong Pak-UK ties; religious freedom and tolerance at the public level were among the priorities. To dispel the misperception of Pakistan, the British government brought positive change in its travel guidelines and revived the British Airways, he added.

ISLAMABAD, Oct 21 (APP): Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar on Friday said that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had disqualified Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan for five years.

Addressing a press conference along with Special Assistant to Prime Minister for Anti-Narcotics Ataullah Tarar and Member of National Assembly Mohsin Shah Nawaz Ranjha, the minister said that the ECP had also asked to take criminal action against Imran Khan because he (Imran) lied before the Election Commission.

He said that Imran Khan “took gifts from abroad and sold them and now he should face the law.”

Tarar said that first Imran Khan’s “prohibited funding was caught and now his theft has been ‘exposed’.”

The federal Law Minister said that the Election Commission showed patience in its decision against Imran Khan. PTI members were shouting about injustice even though injustice happened when the law did not cover anything, he added.

He said that as an elected representative of the people, returns had to be submitted while filing the nomination papers by the candidates before the elections, and after the elections returns had to be submitted every year.

He said that the elected representatives had been bound to submit their returns by December 31, every year.

He said that Imran Khan did not disclose the gifts received abroad in his returns for the years 2019, 2020 and 2021 as he was afraid that “if he disclosed these gifts in returns, his dishonesty would be exposed and the public would question him about this fact.”

He said the Election Commission has disqualified him and also asked to take criminal action against him because “Imran Khan lied before the Election Commission.”

He said that there was a documentary evidence against Imran Khan.

Imran Khan’s disqualification legal, constitutional issue: Sherry

0

ISLAMABAD, Oct 21 (APP): Federal Minister for Climate Change Senator Sherry Rehman on Friday said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan’s disqualification was a legal and constitutional issue whereas the PTI should abstain from trying to give it a different colour.

In a series of tweets on her official account, the federal minister wrote, “Imran Khan is not the first politician who has been disqualified.

The former prime minister (referring to Nawaz Sharif) was disqualified for not disclosing his salary and Imran Khan’s case was no different.”

Senator Rehman lambasted the PTI saying, “There cannot be separate judgments of the same nature of matter.

The PTI is demanding separate laws and decisions for others and for themselves. The PTI spokesperson should discuss the legal aspects of the decision instead of making accusations and threats against Election Commission.”

Imran Khan, she said was disqualified for hiding gifts from Tosha Khana, adding, “Those who call others thieves are themselves convicted of corrupt practices.”

She advised the PTI chief that it was suggested that instead of creating a new narrative on the decision, Imran Khan should allow his probe during the proceedings of the case.
