President asks PM, opposition leader to finalize name of Care-taker Prime Minister until Aug 12

ISLAMABAD, Aug 11 (APP):President Dr Arif Alvi on Friday asked the prime minister and the leader of opposition in the outgoing National Assembly to propose a suitable person for appointment of Care-taker Prime Minister not later than August 12, 2023.

In a letter to the prime minister and the opposition leader, President Alvi said under Article 224A of Constitution, Prime Minister and Leader of Opposition in the outgoing National Assembly were required to propose name of a person for appointment of care-taker prime minister within three days of dissolution of National Assembly.

“Under proviso to Article 224 (1A) of the Constitution, the president appoints care-taker prime minister in consultation with Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition in the outgoing National Assembly”, he added.

He said the prime minister advised him on August 9 for dissolution of National Assembly under Article 58 (1) of the Constitution which he approved and dissolved the assembly on same day.

“As provided in Article 224 (1A) of Constitution of Pakistan, Prime Minister and leader of Opposition in the outgoing National Assembly may propose a suitable person for appointment of care-taker prime minister not later than August 12, 2023,” the president added.

Radio Pakistan airing special programmes in connection with Independence Day

ISLAMABAD, Aug 11 (APP): Radio Pakistan has been airing a series of special programmes in connection with the Independence Day celebrations to highlight the progress made by the country in different fields since its inception.

The programmes also aim at sensitizing the young generation about the rationale behind the creation of Pakistan, and promoting patriotism and national harmony.

The programmes include talk-shows, interviews, reports, documentaries, quiz competitions and excerpts from the speeches of the Founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and other eminent leaders of the Independence Movement.

Through these programmes, the news and current affairs and programme wings are highlighting the history of Pakistan, important events, achievements and noted contributions by various personalities in different fields over the past 75 years.

Radio Pakistan is airing different programmes on the subject from all its stations and units across the country. Radio shows will be held as part of the Independence Day celebrations.

Azadi Melas in connection with the Independence Day celebrations are also going to be held all over the country in Punjabi, Sindhi, Balochi, Pashto, Saraiki, Brahvi, Hindko, Balti, Shina and Pahari languages.

Thematic dramas on patriotism, social harmony and national integrity are being broadcast on weekly basis, and it will continue till August this year.

Special Mushaira will also be aired on 14th August, where eminent poets will present their masterpieces to pay tribute to the nation and its heroes.

On August 14, Radio Pakistan Lahore will broadcast a 20 minutes special documentary titled ” Constitutional Development of Pakistan from 1947 to 1973″ at 4.05 p.m., while Radio Pakistan Islamabad will air a special documentary regarding Pakistan’s achievements in the field of sports during past 76 years.

A 30-minute musical programme based on famous national songs will be aired by Radio Pakistan at 3.30 p.m.

Radio Pakistan’s English Channel will broadcast a speech competition between university students in connection with Independence Day celebrations.

Radio Pakistan Multan, Bahawalpur, Faisalabad, D I Khan and Sargodha will air a special quiz competition in youth programme Hum Naujawan on August 14.

Besides, the Radio Pakistan will cover live the flag hoisting ceremonies both at Islamabad and provincial capitals. In the programme Subh Pakistan, messages of the president, prime minister, Senate chairman and National Assembly speaker will be broadcast.

KP CM stresses on civil servants to work for people’s welfare

PESHAWAR, Aug 11 (APP):Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Caretaker Chief Minister, Muhammad Azam Khan here Friday stressed on public servants to work tirelessly for resolution of people’s problems and their welfare.

Addressing the completion of 33rd Senior Management Course (SMC) ceremony as a chief guest here at National Institute of Management (NIM), the caretaker chief minister said that great responsibilities rest on public servants by adopting highest standards of professionalism, management skills and work with utmost dedication imperative for swift resolution of people’s problems and welfare of masses.

Congratulating the 34 passed out officers of the SMC, the chief minister said that public servants and officers could not afford leniency in dispensation of official duties. He directed them to decide cases swiftly on merit and treat general public politely.

He said Pakistan had been created after a lot of sacrifices by our forefathers and the country’s problems could be addressed by taking guidance from the teachings of the father of the nation, Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

He said Pakistan could achieve all heights of success if the entire nation strictly acts on the guiding principles of unity, faith and discipline of the great Quaid.
The Chief Minister said the civil servants must rise above political and ethnic affiliations for effective implementation of the constitution, rule of law and achievement of economic development goals.

He said civil servants should modify their attitudes, skills and knowledge to tackle the modern management challenges, peoples issues and ensure good governance.

Later, certificates were distributed among the officers upon successful completion of the course.

The chief minister laid foundation stones of different projects in the institute and planted sapling.

The chief minister handed Rs50 million cheque for different development projects to NIM authorities.

Besides others, the function was attended by Director General NIM Captain Retd Usman Gul, Chief Instructor Tariq Bakhtair, Lt Gen Retd Mumtaz Gul and senior officials of NIM, Peshawar.

Upon arrival, the caretaker chief Azam Khan was welcomed by the Director General NIM, Captain Retd Usman Gul and other senior officers of the institute.

Independence Day celebrations begin at NCA

LAHORE, Aug 11 (APP):The National College of Arts has arranged a number of activities to celebrate the 76th Independence Day in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad.

According to a press release on Friday, celebrations have already commenced with a plantation event. The Vice Chancellor of NCA, senior faculty, and staff participated in planting saplings. For an exhibition, students have started making artworks, while the NCA archive department is preparing preserved and rare photographs for the exhibition.


In his message, NCA Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Murtaza Jafari said the purpose of the events is to raise awareness among the young generation about the value of our homeland and the sacrifices made by our elders for its independence. Keeping the tradition alive, a grand flag-hoisting ceremony will take place at NCA on Independence Day followed by prayers and the national anthem. Special badges and flags shall be distributed among the participants after the flag-hoisting ceremony. A musical performance is also part of the final day celebrations.


The ceremony will be attended by senior faculty members and college staff, including Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Murtaza Jafari. In addition to the flag-hoisting, an exhibition showcasing artworks / archive on the theme of the Pakistan Movement will be held at NCA’s Zahoor-ul-Akhlaq Gallery. A project of decorating campus walls is also underway which engaged students and staff.
