Bilawal terms Pakistani youth as guarantee of better future

KARACHI, Aug 12 (APP): Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has termed the Pakistani youth as the guarantee of a better future for the country and said that now no power can stop Pakistan from progressing as the youth are determined to face every challenge and lead in every field.

In his message on International Youth Day, he said we are confident that for the development of a prosperous, strong, and progressive Pakistan, our young generation has the potential to lead in the field and on the front.

“Pakistan is a fortunate country that more than 63 percent of its population is in the age group of 15 to 33 years. Hence, Pakistan’s greatest asset is our youth,” he pointed out.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that PPP must not miss any opportunity to utilize the talents of the youth for the progress and prosperity of the country and to give them maximum opportunities in this regard.

He reminded that Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, during his tenure as Prime Minister, offered many jobs to the youth, before which the youth did not get jobs in such numbers, adding that Quaid-e-Awam Bhutto arranged for a large number of young people to get employment in friendly countries.

Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto was famous among the people that, “Benazir will come and will bring employment (for all)”.

“Pakistani youth, for the last time in the last three decades, got the most jobs and employment opportunities under the Awami government led by former President Asif Ali Zardari,” he added.

He said that his party is fully aware of the problems and difficulties faced by today’s youth, adding that provision of education and health facilities as well as employment opportunities to the youth is one of the top priorities of the PPP.

He assured that the youth should not be disappointed, we will all work together and take efforts to ensure quality education and employment for the youth. “We don’t make false promises, we deliver what we promise,” he contended.

Bilawal also supported this year’s theme of the United Nations about International Youth Day, “Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World,” and urged that Pakistani youth must play a leadership role in tackling climate change, as their homeland is among the countries most affected by the climate change.

Police devise traffic plan for independence day celebrations in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD, Aug 12 (APP):In preparation for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, Islamabad Capital Police (Traffic Division) has made a specialized traffic plan to ensure smooth traffic flow and safety across the city.

With the participation of 550 officers and personnel assigned to special duty, the police have taken measures to curb traffic violations and illegal entry into Islamabad.

Under the guidance of Islamabad Capital City Police Officer’s directives, a dedicated traffic strategy has been devised. This plan includes the deployment of a substantial workforce, comprising 550 officers and personnel. Among these, Superintendent of Police (SP), four Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), and 22 inspectors have been assigned duties.

To maintain order and security on the roads during the celebrations on August 13 and 14, special squads have been formed. These squads will be stationed at key locations throughout the city and equipped with roadblocks. The primary focus is to crack down on violations such as one-wheeling on motorcycles, vehicles with tinted windows, reckless driving, and those with noisy silencers.

Chief Traffic Officer, Dr. Syed Mustafa Tanveer, has emphasized the importance of upholding traffic laws during this period. In particular, he has urged strict action against motorcyclists engaging in one-wheeling and those who alter their vehicles unlawfully. These directives extend to not only the riders but also mechanics who modify motorcycles against legal regulations.

Dr. Mustafa Tanveer has extended an appeal to parents, urging them not to permit their children to use one-wheeled motorcycles. Legal measures will be taken against violators, and their motorcycles will be impounded at police stations, reinforcing the seriousness of the matter.

To keep citizens informed about the traffic situation, ICTP Radio FM 92.4 will provide real-time updates on the roads. This initiative aims to create awareness and facilitate smoother traffic movement during the celebrations.

As the nation prepares to celebrate its Independence Day, the Islamabad Capital Police’s rigorous traffic plan demonstrates its commitment to ensuring the safety of citizens and maintaining order on the city’s roads.

Embracing Quaid’s vision for true, democratic Pakistan: A Path Forward

0

ISLAMABAD, Aug 12 (APP): As Pakistan commemorates its journey to independence, echoes of Quaid-e-Azam’s visionary ideals resonate. The call to uphold his principles of democracy, equality, and unity remains pertinent. Embracing his vision promises a path toward a genuine and democratic Pakistan, steering the nation through contemporary challenges with unwavering commitment.

The journey towards Pakistan’s independence in 1947 was nothing short of a revolution, marked by the Muslims’ unwavering determination to carve out their own sovereign state amidst a complex political landscape. This pursuit was championed by none other than Muhammad Ali Jinnah, whose visionary outlook laid the foundation for an independent Pakistan.

Despite facing numerous challenges, Pakistan emerged as a distinct nation-state, guided by Quaid’s principles. However, the nation’s journey post-independence has been fraught with challenges that continue to shape its course.

The inception of Pakistan was the culmination of decades of struggle. The Lahore Resolution of March 1940, which advocated for a separate homeland based on the Two-Nation Theory, marked a turning point. Jinnah’s vision echoed the ideas of Allama Iqbal, emphasizing a separate state for Muslims to safeguard their identity and ideals. The Muslim-majority areas in the Northwest and Northeast of British India were to form the cradle of this new nation.

The road to independence was riddled with challenges that tested the resolve of the Pakistani people. The partition of India in 1947 resulted in widespread violence and displacement, as Hindus and Sikhs clashed with Muslims during the mass migration. The newly formed state faced the daunting task of managing communal tensions and healing wounds.

Building a nation from the ground up required establishing institutions, infrastructure, and governance systems.

The diversity within Pakistan’s population presented the challenge of fostering a unified national identity. Economic development was hindered by limited resources and a need to establish a stable economic foundation. The underprivileged classes, who had hoped for better opportunities in the new state, needed attention.

The unresolved Kashmir conflict with India added a geopolitical dimension to Pakistan’s challenges, straining relations and triggering conflicts over the years.
Jinnah’s vision for Pakistan was rooted in democratic principles, equality, and religious freedom. He aimed to create a modern Islamic state where all citizens, regardless of their backgrounds, would enjoy equal rights. His charismatic leadership united various stakeholders and galvanized support from the Muslim masses, mobilizing individuals from educational institutions to political leaders.

As Pakistan celebrates its independence, it faces a new set of challenges. The influence of international financial institutions on Pakistan’s economic policies has raised concerns about the nation’s autonomy and long-term sustainability. Periods of political instability and interventions have hindered the establishment of a consistent democratic governance system.

Challenges in education, healthcare, and social services persist, limiting the nation’s progress and human development. The country grapples with extremism and security threats, necessitating efforts to counter radicalization and ensure the safety of citizens. Complex relationships with neighboring countries, particularly India and Afghanistan, continue to impact Pakistan’s strategic positioning and stability.

Pakistan’s journey from a revolutionary struggle for independence to the challenges of nation-building and development reflects a resilient spirit. Quaid’s vision for a democratic, equal, and prosperous nation remains a guiding force. As the nation navigates its path, addressing contemporary challenges with unity and resolve is crucial to fulfilling the aspirations that led to its creation.

PTI responsible for keeping away youth from politics: Kaira

0

ISLAMABAD, Aug 12 (APP): Advisor to the Prime Minister on Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan, Qamar Zaman Kaira on Saturday said that the youth of the country were kept away from the politics after misguiding them through showing misleading advertisements by the Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan.

Talking to a private news channel, he said that the habits of institutions and departments would slow steady become right it was not possible to settle things abruptly adding that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and all other political parties needed to stand united on ‘Charter of Democracy’.

Replying to a question, he said that delaying elections would not be favorable for the country’s stability and PML-N was also not in favor of delaying the process at any cost. “The caretaker setup has a huge responsibility to run a country in an appropriate manner,” he added.

“In the caretaker setup, politicians need to come and participate in it and perform with a huge responsibility. As most of the politicians are performing their responsibilities beyond the limits, however, the country’s stability lies in the Constitution and rule of law”, he concluded.

President directs EOBI to apologize to a retired security guard with disability

0

ISLAMABAD, Aug 12 (APP): President Dr Arif Alvi has directed the Employees Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) to apologize to a retired security guard with a disability, who was not even given entry into the premises of EOBI when he went there to pursue his pension benefits case.

He said that he, as the President of Pakistan, apologized to the citizen and also asked EOBI to take a deep look at their unfriendly and anti-poor practices, President Secretariat Press Wing said in a press release on Saturday.

The president gave these remarks while deciding upon a representation filed by EOBI against the decision of the Wafaqi Mohtasib directing the Chairman of EOBI to consider the case of Iftikhar Hussain (the complainant) in the light of relevant rules and regulations.

The complainant was a security guard working with a private security agency and during his service, he met with an accident in 2008, had his leg fractured, and became disabled.

He approached EOBI for pension but was declined payment of pension grant on the ground that his total insurable employment was less than 15 years and he was only entitled to the old-age grant. Feeling aggrieved, he approached Wafaqi Mohtasib, which directed EOBI to consider his case and EOBI then filed a representation with the president against mohtasib’s decision.

The president, in his decision, expressed displeasure that the complainant, a simple labourer (security guard), had to spend years looking for justice, which was shameful and reflected poorly on EOBI.

“The complainant has also narrated that years were spent as his file was  misplaced and only found after ‘Sifarish’”, he added.

He expressed dismay over the fact that the differently-abled guard was not granted audience by the concerned offices and was only allowed to enter the premises after the intervention of a retired officer.

The president concluded that since EOBI’s representative had assured during the hearing of the case that his grievance would be considered in accordance with the law, the order of the mohtasib was modified to the extent that instead of referring the matter to chairman EOBI, it might be placed before the adjudicating Aathority of EOBI for disposal of the matter within 30 days.

Canola seed from China to improve seed safety of Pakistan

0

BEIJING, Aug. 12 (APP): China Wuhan Qingfa-Hesheng Seed Company has a plan to promote 1.2 million acres of hybrid canola from this year to the next.

500,000 tons of high-quality cooking oil and 1 million tons of high-quality rapeseed meal are expected to be produced, which can generate a revenue of around USD300 million, said Zhou Xusheng, director of the international business department of the company.

At a recently held seminar on the National Food Security theme “Green Pakistan Initiative”, Zhou gave a keynote speech entitled Pak-China Cooperation on canola technology to create a healthy oil industry, providing a solution to the shortage of healthy edible oil in Pakistan.

“We wish to cooperate with Pakistan on large modern farming of canola and its downstream industries, it will provide high-quality edible oil and animal feed for national food security. This technology development can reduce 25-30% of import bills and provide millions of jobs in related industries,” Zhou said in the speech.

“The company is working on transferring technology to Pakistan to make it efficient in smart agriculture.”

“We want to transfer the harvesting technology through which the farmers can use some attachments on their harvesters to reduce the wastage,” Zhou said.

“The company will also introduce processing units across Pakistan, through which even in villages people can install them and produce oil,” China Economic Net (CEN) reported.

Wuhan Qingfa-Hesheng had carried out the breeding of hybrid double-low rapeseed varieties in Pakistan since 2009.

There was little progress at the beginning due to the large differences in climate and cultivation between the two countries, so we developed a new breeding mindset to re-create genetic resources according to local climate characteristics and experimental data. In the end, with the assistance of molecular technology, we successfully bred HC-021C, a new hybrid canola variety with better oil content and quality, he informed.

Zhou told that HC-021C was approved and registered by the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) in 2019, and thus became the first double-low rapeseed variety in the history of Pakistan.

Due to HC-021Cs excellent performance, Punjab Province provided a planting subsidy of Rs 5,000 per acre to farmers who plant it. Compared with local varieties, the oil content of HC-021C is at least 10% higher, and its yield is 5% higher.

It is very popular among the oil processing plants, Zhou Xusheng said.

“The remaining rapeseed meal can be used as high-quality feed additives. The promotion of HC-021C cultivation can be conducive to edible oil production and poultry sector in Pakistan, and thus improve the food safety of Pakistan,” he added.
