ISSI, INESG Algeria sign MoU to establish institutional linkages

ISLAMABAD, Nov 10 (APP): Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) and National Global Strategic Institute (INESG), Algeria, here, on Thursday signed an MOU facilitated by Center for Afghanistan, Middle East and Africa (CAMEA).

An MoU signing took place in presence of ISSI Director General Ambassador Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry and INESG Director General, Mr. Abdelaziz Medjahed, said a press release issued by ISSI.

The MoU signing ceremony was also attended by H.E. Brahim Romani, Ambassador of Algeria to Pakistan, H.E. Muhammad Tariq, and Ambassador of Pakistan to Algeria, Ambassador Khalid Mahmood, Chairman Board of Governors (BOG), ISSI and Ms Amina Khan, Director, Centre for Afghanistan, Middle East and Africa (CAMEA).

Director CAMEA, Ms. Amina Khan, while giving her introductory remarks, stated that with the signing of MoU “we not only hope to further the relationship between Pakistan and Algeria, but we hope to establish institutional linkages between both sides for collaborative research and dialogue on issues of mutual interest”.

Director General ISSI Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry gave a brief introduction of the Institute and extended his commendation to both Centers and hoped that this association would help produce quality research and dialogue for mutual benefit.

Director General, INESG, Mr. Abdelaziz Medjahed said that Pakistan and Algeria are very important countries in the region and friendly ties between these countries are of utmost significance. Both countries have a long-standing history of solidarity and Pakistan has always supported Algeria. He said that the entire team at INESG looks forward to a fruitful partnership with ISSI and this mutual cooperation will be beneficial for both countries.

Ambassador of Algeria to Pakistan, H.E. Brahim Romani said this MoU will help to produce diverse linkages and cooperation between the two institutions and will help to create collaboration at regional and international levels. He mentioned that this MoU will enable us to achieve better interaction and fruitful cooperation.

Ambassador of Pakistan to Algeria, H.E. Muhammad Tariq was of the view that Pakistan and Algeria are two important countries and there is a lot of potential that needs to be explored.

He further said that both countries should focus on strengthening relations and should work together to enhance cooperation. Pakistan and Algeria have a lot of potential in the fields of research, and dialogue and hoped the MoU will lay a solid basis for future cooperation.

Chairman Senate stresses Canadian companies to invest in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Nov 10 (APP): Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani on Thursday stressed that Canadian companies should invest in Pakistan and benefit from a large consumer market.

He was talking to a delegation of Pakistan Western Canada Trade Association and US Pakistan International Chamber of Commerce, who met with him in his office at Parliament House.

During the meeting, the issues of mutual interest were discussed in detail.

Senator Zeeshan Khanzada, and Secretary Senate Qasim Samad Khan were also present on this occasion.

Talking to the delegation, Chairman Senate said that Pakistan and Canada have a long history of friendly and cordial relations.

He said that Pakistan is committed to developing a broader and more multilateral partnership with Canada.

He said that special attention should be given to trade and investment in the relations between the two countries.

Pakistani products need to be introduced in the Canadian market, the chairman Senate stated.

He also underlined the need to ease the movement of people between the two countries.

In the meeting, both dignitaries reiterated their commitment to making constructive and meaningful efforts to further strengthen bilateral relations between Pakistan and Canada.

Army Chief pays farewell visits to Sialkot, Mangla garrisons

RAWALPINDI, Nov 10 (APP): Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Thursday visited Sialkot and Mangla garrisons as part of his farewell visits to various formations.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the COAS met officers and men at both locations and addressed the troops.

He appreciated the formations for their excellent performance during various operations, training, and natural calamities. The COAS advised troops to keep serving the nation with the same zeal and commitment no matter what the circumstances.

Earlier, on arrival at Sialkot, the COAS was received by Lieutenant General Muhammad Aamer and Lieutenant General Ayman Bilal Safdar at Mangla garrison.

PSX continues with bullish trend, gains 635 points

ISLAMABAD, Nov 10 (APP):The 100-index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Thursday continued with bullish trend, gaining 635.91 points, a positive change of 1.50 percent, closing at 42,901.27 against 42,265.36 points on the last working day.

A total of 293,900,713 shares were traded during the day as compared to 237,359,327 shares the previous day, whereas the price of shares stood at Rs 10.212 billion against Rs 5.801 billion on the last trading day.

Around 362 companies transacted their shares in the stock market, 235 of them recorded gains and 104 sustained losses, whereas the share price of 23 companies remained unchanged.

The three top trading companies were Hascol Petrol with 41,553,000 shares at Rs 7.68 per share, Bank Al-Falah with 21,316,777 shares at Rs 34.26 per share, and WorldCall Telecom with 16,113,778 2 shares at Rs 1.59 per share.

Sanofi-Aventis witnessed a maximum increase of Rs 61.99 per share price, closing at Rs 1,089.99, whereas the runner-up was Ismail Industries with a Rs 31.76 rise in its per share price to Rs 455.26.

Rafhan MaizeXD witnessed a maximum decrease of Rs 575.99 per share closing at Rs 10,000.01, followed by Allawasaya Textile with a Rs 230.47 decline to close at Rs 2,842.56.
