Swati remains absent from committee’s meeting formed to probe his leaked video scandal: Haideri

ISLAMABAD, Nov 11 (APP): Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Senator Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri on Friday said Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Senator Muhammad Azam Khan Swati remained absent from two consecutive meetings of the parliamentary special committee formed to probe his video leak scandal.

Talking to media after chairing the meeting as convener, he said four members of the upper house of parliament made contact with the PTI stalwart but he did not attend the meeting.

The way Senator Swati had created hype in the media over his leaked video, he must come in the meeting so that the culprits should be brought to justice as soon as possible, he added.

He alarmed that if he would not attend the meeting, it would raise question on the credibility of alleged video tape.

He mentioned that the next meeting of committee would be held on Monday, November 14 to further deliberate on the matter.

Haideri proposed the PTI’s lawmakers to attend the committee’s meeting as it has one-pint agenda to investigate the Swati’s indecent video tape.

He said making such disgusting videos in a bid to harass the people were against the moral ethics in the civilized societies.

Condemning the Swati’s alleged incident, he said the series of insulting politicians, journalists and people of good repute in the society through audio and video tape leaks should be stopped now.

He, apart from government, urged the human rights organizations to play their due role into the matter and devise a joint strategy to cope with such cases in the future.

He explained that Senate Chairman Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani, taking up the issue of Swati’s leaked video, formed a special committee comprising of all parties’ parliamentary leaders in Senate.

The aim of this whole exercise was to probe the alleged video scandal and provide all possible assistance the affected legislator, he added.

Daily Mail so far fails to prove allegations against PM Shehbaz Sharif: Marriyum

ISLAMABAD, Nov 11 (APP): Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb Friday claimed that the British newspaper Daily Mail had so far failed to prove the allegations levlled by its journalist David Rose in an article against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif about alleged misappropriation of public funds.

“Now, the Daily Mail will have to face the law,” she said in a news statement.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif filed a defamation case against the Daily Mail and its journalist in a court of the United Kingdom a couple of years back.

According to Marriyum, the trail of defamation case would be held in “December 2023”.

A short reply in the case had already been submitted on behalf of PM Shehbaz Sharif, she said in the statement.

The minister said the judge had fixed December 13, 2022 for next hearing of the case and the reply on the allegations needed to be submitted by the same date.

She said cost of the case was being paid and “we have already won our case on the stage of presentation.”

She said the Daily Mail had opted to the delaying tactics to delay the case.

With the theme “Towards a Shared Digital Future in a Connected World – Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace,” this year’s WIC Wuzhen summit brought together more than 2,000 representatives from over 120 countries and regions, showcased more than 200 projects which aimed at building a community in cyberspace and using digital technologies to promote social fairness.

Pointing out that building a digitally inclusive community is a collective global responsibility, the ambassador emphasized that Pakistan would not be far behind, and would be a willing partner in a shared concept to build a resilient, sustainable, and inclusive digital future for all.

“While constructing a global digital infrastructure, we should enable the developing countries to be an equal partner to increased investments and technical support.”, the envoy said.

“Cooperation and development’ is one of the key focuses of WIC 2022. Amid climate change, COVID-19 epidemic and economic tremors, ‘global efforts’ is a lesson that should be drawn from the responses to past global crises.

The ambassador called on renouncing the old mindset of zero-sum games, or the winner takes it all mentality, stating that “We could not put cyberspace beyond the concept of mutual support, mutual trust, mutual benefit.”

Ran Chengqi, Director General, China Satellite Navigation Office and Spokesperson of BeiDou Navigation Satellite System said that “We seek to actively cooperate with other countries in navigation satellite systems to achieve compatibility and win-win results, jointly improve the performance of systems and share that with the whole world, especially the developing and the Belt and Road countries.”

Balochistan govt initiates installation of pipeline in Gwadar

GWADAR, Nov 11 (APP): The Balochistan government has initiated a project for installing a new pipeline in Gwadar town to ensure an uninterrupted water supply to the residents of the area.

The project of putting up a water pipeline was initiated for the provision of clean drinking water and its fair distribution in the port city to resolve water crises in the area.

A million gallons of water would be supplied to the local town daily through the pipeline, a senior official of the provincial government told APP on Friday.

Under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), multiple projects have been initiated for the provision of clean drinking water and its fair distribution in the area.

“The other important projects include the provision of water to Gwadar city from nearby dams to meet the water needs of the area”, he said, adding that the pipelines from Swad Dam to Gwadar were also near completion.

He said the work on drinking water projects was also in progress in many parts of the province to overcome water shortage on a permanent basis, adding that resolving the water issue was a top priority of the incumbent government.

He further said that Gwadar Development Authority was making all-out efforts for the timely completion of the developmental projects especially clean drinking water.

All available resources would be utilized for the early completion of clean water projects, he added.

The official said the government had established new water filtration plants in every district of the province to provide clean drinking water to the citizens. Through the installation of water treatment plants, clean water would be available for every resident, he added.

SBP governor assures resolution of issues to facilitate businesses

ISLAMABAD, Nov 11 (APP): Governor State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Jameel Ahmad here on Friday assured that the bank would try to resolve the issues faced by businesses and trade due to changed regulatory framework of Foreign Exchange.

He made this assurance during a call on meeting with Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Asim Ahmad, according to press statement issued by the board.

They discussed the stuck up consignments and opening of Letters of Credit (LCs) in context of SBP’s recent circulars to the banks.

On the occasion, Chairman FBR reiterated full cooperation of FBR including exchange of information with the central bank.

He also informed the governor about implementation of newly issued foreign currency limitation for passengers travelling abroad.

Both of them agreed on close coordination between SBP and FBR for effective implementation of policies along with improved regulatory environment for economic development.

Mother, child health week to be held in Balochistan from 14-19 Nov: Dr. Sami Kakar

QUETTA, Nov 11 (APP): National Program for Lady Health Workers Balochistan Coordinator Doctor Sami Kakar on Friday said that the Lady Health Workers Program, with the support of UNICEF, would organize mother and child health week from November 14 to 19 across the province.

During the week various programs will be organized in all the districts, he expressed these views while addressing a meeting of DHOs and the administration of all districts of Balochistan.

Dr. Sami Kakar said that the National Program for Lady Health Workers was working on various programs regarding mother and child health in Balochistan.

Children up to 5 years of age will be vaccinated with polio drops while mothers will be vaccinated against various diseases, he said.

He said that during this week the children would also be given stomach worm pills and the children would be able to avoid various complications.

Dr. Sami Kakar said that during the health week, walks and seminars would be organized in all districts in which people belonging to different schools of thought would participate.

He said that teams have been formed to monitor the health week which would visit all the districts to review the activities while special attention would be given to the flood-affected areas.

PSX continues with bullish trend, gains 191 points

TheISLAMABAD, Nov 11 (APP): 100-index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Friday continued with bullish trend, gaining 191.68 points, a positive change of 0.45 percent, closing at 43,092.95 against 42,901.27 points on the last working day.

A total of 232,788,982 shares were traded during the day as compared to 293,900,713 shares the previous day, whereas the price of shares stood at Rs 7.625 billion against Rs 10.212 billion on the last trading day.

As many as 341 companies transacted their shares in the stock market, 172 of them recorded gains and 142 sustained losses, whereas the share price of 27 companies remained unchanged.

The three top trading companies were Cnergyico Pk with 21,136,752 shares at Rs 5.13 per share, WorldCall Telecom with 17,903,067 shares at Rs 1.55 per share, and TLP Properties with 15,102,841 shares at Rs 19.22 per share.

Nestle Pakistan XD witnessed a maximum increase of Rs 249 per share price, closing at Rs 5900, whereas the runner-up was Pak Tobacco with a Rs 39.33 rise in its per share price to Rs 939.33.

Bata (Pak) XD witnessed a maximum decrease of Rs 99 per share closing at Rs 1901 followed by Pak Services with a Rs 62.25 decline to close at Rs 767.75.

Pakistan first transgender school participate in athletics competitions

MULTAN, Nov 11 (APP): Students from Pakistan’s first transgender school participated in the athletic competitions under school Olympics games organized by School Education Department South Punjab.

According to details, the students of Pakistan’s first transgender school set-up in Multan participated in the athletic competitions in the school Olympics games. The transgender students participated in the 100 metres, 200 metres race and shot-put events.
The medals were given to the position holders.

Meanwhile, Bahawalpur division teams qualified for football, hockey, table tennis and volleyball final while Bahawalnagar team was on top in athletics competitions.

The final matches would be played tomorrow (November-12).
The football, hockey, badminton, volleyball and table tennis matches were played in the semi-final round during school Olympics games here on Friday.
