New RPO for eradication of terrorism, promotion of sectarian harmony

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Aug 30 (APP):Newly appointed Regional Police Officer (RPO) Nasir Mehmood Satti has said that eradication of terrorism and promotion of sectarian harmony were among his priorities.
Talking to media persons here at his office, the RPO said the terrorists were not well-wishers of the state. He vowed that the scourge of terrorism would be eradicated from the society. The role of the police department in the war against terror would be made more effective.
The RPO said the sectarian harmony would be further promoted with the help of religious leaders.
He said the welfare of the police was also among his priorities and the police officials and officers who earn good repute for the department would be awarded prizes. However, he said, the black sheep of the department causing disrespect for the force would be given exemplary punishment.
He said the traffic system in all the districts of the region would be improved. The concrete steps would be taken to stop smuggling in the area.
RPO Nasir Mehmood Satti mentioned that special attention would be paid to improving the policing system in South Waziristan through the provision of special training to the personnel. Moreover, he said, the number of police stations would be increased in that area keeping in view the crime ratio and population of the specific area.

Four TTP terrorists killed in Pishin

QUETTA, Aug 30 (APP):At least four terrorists of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) outfit were killed on Wednesday during an operation conducted in Pishin district of Balochistan province, a Counter Terrorism Department spokesman said.
The most wanted sharpshooter of TTP namely Shakar Din alias Umar Khalid was among four terrorists killed in the intelligence-based operation.
“On a tip-off, the CTD Balochistan carried out a search operation in the refugee camp Surkhab area of Pishin district.
During the exchange of firing, four TTP men were killed,”
A huge cache of arms and ammunition was also recovered from the hideouts of the outlawed terrorist’s residence.
Apart from attacks on the security forces, the killed terrorists were also involved in various serious acts of terrorism.
CTD Balochistan has lodged an FIR and started a search operation to arrest other members of the network.
Further probe was underway.

Anti-drugs walk held

walk here on Wednesday.
The aim of the walk to raise awareness among students regarding harmful effects
of drugs.
The walk started from the Police Lines and concluded at the Reader collage
after passing through main roads of the city.
A large number of students and officials participated in the walk.

Police personnel gunned down in Quetta

QUETTA, Aug 30 (APP):A police cop was shot and killed by unknown armed men in the Sariab Road area of Quetta, police said on Wednesday.
Police said that a police personnel named Akhatar Hussin died when unknown armed men opened fire at him in Mil Colony.
A search operation has been launched to arrest the culprits involved in the ghastly incident. Further probe is underway.

Police repulse terrorist attack on Daraban Police station

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Aug 30 (APP): The district police have repulsed a terrorist attack on Daraban Police station last night.

According to police spokesman, some unknown terrorists attacked the Daraban police station with weapons and grenades.

The terrorists, attacking the police station from backside, opened indiscriminate firing at the police station which continued for around three hours.

The police retaliated the firing of the terrorists. After which, the terrorists managed to escape from the scene due to darkness.

No loss of life was reported in the attack.

The police started a search operation in the area after the fire exchange was stopped.
