Three theatres sealed over indecency in dramas

MULTAN, Sep 02 (APP):District administration has launched a crackdown and sealed three theatres over complaints of immortality in drams under the directions Punjab government.
The theatres included Babar, Rex and Starlet.
Assistant Commissioner headquarters Aftab Dogar took action along with the task force.
Deputy Commissioner Umer Jehangir said that the provincial government has ordered strict monitoring of theaters across the province.
Special video recording of all theaters and cinemas in the district will be conducted.
DC said that an ultimatum has been issued to the actors not to do lewdness and indecent acts.

SIALKOT, Sep 02 (APP):Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Secretary Muzaffar Hayat has said that smoky public transport will not be allowed on roads.
He directed all transport owners, drivers and staff of the general bus stand to get their vehicles tuned, change engine oil on time and use quality fuel so that their vehicles do not emit smoke.
He said that an anti-smog squad had been formed on the direction of the Punjab transport secretary, which is inspecting the engine of vehicles at different bus stands.
Earlier, under the leadership of the secretary, an anti-smog awareness walk was held.

Pakistan possess monumental potential in organic cotton production

MULTAN, Sep 02 (APP):The country’s top agriculture scientists, academics, and experts joined brainstorming sessions at an online conference acknowledging the big potential Pakistan possesses in organic cotton and the way forward to translate it into action toward growth excellence and bring foreign exchange earnings home.
The event was organized by Sawie, a climate-smart agriculture digital platform providing real-time advisories, and the country’s ace cotton research body Pakistan Central Cotton Committee (PCCC) on Aug 31 at Central Cotton Research Institute (CCRI) Multan, CCRI spokesman said on Saturday.
The 2nd Annual SAWiE Conference on Organic Cotton Pakistan was themed around knowledge dissemination and best practices sharing and it attracted a diverse audience including policymakers, industry experts, farmers, and researchers.
It sought to bridge gaps and promote collaboration across the organic cotton value chain, fostering a holistic approach.
Dr Khalid Mahmood from SAWIE and Prof Dr Rana Iqrar Khan, Vice Chancellor University of Agriculture Faisalabad opened the conference and emphasized the need to improve soil health through improving organic matter.
Dr Yusuf Zafar, the former Chairman of PARC and CABI, highlighted Pakistan’s immense potential in the organic cotton sector.
Citing the findings of a Textile Exchange report, he said, “Pakistan has the capacity to achieve a staggering 405% growth in organic cotton production.”
“This numerical potential, however, needs to be translated into actionable initiatives,” he said and stressed the need for synergy among all stakeholders to harness this potential.
He said Pakistan was on the cusp of creating standards and certifications that align with organic cotton production.
Secretary PCCC Dr Tassawar Hussain appreciated the efforts of key players especially WWF and the Balochistan agriculture department for the promotion of Organic cotton in Pakistan and offered all possible support for its growth.
Asif Mehmood, from Organic Cotton Accelerator (OCA), while congratulating the participants said, “Pakistan is now seen on the international map of Organic cotton production.”
Dr Shahid Mansoor, advisor ICCBS Karachi, highlighted the importance of developing non-GMO seed varieties that could grow with less water and less nutrients.
Experts discussed in threadbare the Organic-Non GMO seed, Bio inputs, Regenerative agriculture, digital agriculture, traceability & certification, and marketing to improve farmers’ income.
Hafiz Muhammad Bux, head of Organic cotton WWF Pakistan, said, “It is very inspirational that SAWiE is proactively providing a platform to discuss organic cotton related key factors to be considered on serious grounds and build synergies to combat existing challenges to organic cotton value chain.”
Dr Ghulam Ali, chairman of PARC, emphasized the need for developing local standards and certification for organic cotton meeting international standards.
He also highlighted the need to develop new Organic cotton clusters including Barani Tract, Cholistan, Layyah, and Bhakkar, and in KPK areas around DI Khan, etc.
Secretary of Agriculture South Punjab Saqib Ali Ateel said the discussion would greatly help bridge the gap between knowledge and practices and acknowledged that conventional agricultural practices in the country needed an overhaul, underlining the critical importance of soil management.
Stressing the need to transition from degrading soils to fertile ones, Ateel said the legacy they should be leaving for the upcoming generations must be a future with fertile soil, not barren dirt.
Prof. Asif Ali, Vice-Chancellor 9VC) of MNSUA, exhibited unwavering institutional commitment and pledged wholehearted cooperation to further the organic cotton sector’s growth.
The progressive farmer Mumtaz Manis said: “We need to reduce the use of pesticides and improve IPM practices to control pests and diseases.”

DC visited to Govt. Allama Iqbal Teaching Hospital

SIALKOT, Sep 02 (APP):Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sialkot Adnan Mehmood Awan visited to the Govt. Allama Iqbal Teaching Hospital and reviewed the facilities provided to the patients and injured in the emergency department of the trauma center, here on Saturday.
DC said that work had underway on many projects including improving the quality of medical facilities, expanding the trauma center, increasing the number of beds, revamping and constructing a pediatric block in the District Headquarters Teaching Hospital.
On the instructions of the Chief Minister of Punjab, where the old building of the hospital had being repaired and upgraded at a cost of Rs.390 million, under public-private partnership, an addition of 50 beds in the trauma center and a pediatric block for the treatment of newborns will be constructed.
DC directed the hospital principal to add 30 to 40 beds in the hospital and work should be started immediately in this regard.

Police arrested two alleged brutal killers of six-year-old Ayesha

PESHAWAR, Sep 02 (APP):In a successful operation, the Police have succeeded in arresting two alleged killers who were involved in killing and sexually assaulting a girl in the limits of Khazana Police Station here on Saturday.
According to details, the Police have arrested two brutal suspects involved in the murder of 6-year-old girl Ayesha. One of the accused is a close relative of the deceased, Police said. Both the accused have confessed to the crime, SP Rural Zafar Ahmed told media men.
The accused killed the girl by hanging after her death, SP Rural said, adding, that the accused were identified as Kamran and Amanullah.

Tehsildar gets power to issue domicile to citizens

MUZAFFARGARH, Sep 02 (APP):In a move aimed at alleviating the hardships faced by citizens, Deputy Commissioner Muzaffargarh, Salman Khan Lodhi took a decisive step by granting power to tehsildar to issue domicile.
He issued a notification directing Tehsildar Alipur Iqbal Abbasi to grant domiciles. This directive comes in response to the pressing need for this essential document and will remain in effect until the appointment of an Assistant Commissioner for the area.

Two quacks booked

SARGODHA, Sep 02 (APP):Two quacks were booked while their clinics were also sealed in a crackdown launched by the Health Department, here on Saturday.
According to the official sources, on the directions of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Health Dr. Asad Aslam, a team headed by Deputy District Officer Health, Irfan Ahmed conducted a raid at chak no 91-NB and Tariqabad road.
They caught red handed Manzoor Hussain and Mazhar Iqbal, who were running clinic without having a degree and license.
Cases were registered against the quacks.

KARACHI, Sep 02 (APP):Sindh Interim Minister for Finance, Revenue and Planning & Development  Muhammad Younus Dagha on Saturday inaugurated the 23rd ITCN Asia Summit at Expo Centre, here Saturday.
The summit will continue for three days.
 Four halls of the Expo Center Karachi were booked with the stalls of various companies.On the occasion, the Interim Minister Younus Dagha said that the Sindh government was using Information Technology (IT) for smooth work.
 He said that the IT sector helped in providing information to the farmers in the agricultural sector.
Dagha said that the Interim Sindh government would promote the IT sector as much as possible in the short term.
Later, he distributed awards among the best IT experts of various private institutions, banks, and companies.

Journalists pledged to work with govt closely to ensure Polio-free Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Sep 2 (APP):The Journalist community has pledged to work with the government to ensure a polio-free Pakistan at a local hotel of Muree, the other day.
The assurance came at a workshop organized by the Directorate General Public Relations (DGPR) in collaboration with the Punjab Emergency Operations Centre, themed “Last Mole, Reaching Last Child”.
Officials of international partners of Pakistan in polio eradication belonging to WHO and Unicef participated in the workshop.
Journalists from key organizations were also in attendance.
The workshop was held in the backdrop of positive environmental samples reported in Lahore and Rawalpindi.
The journalists were informed that two environmental samples had been reported positive from Rawalpindi and three from Lahore this year.
Although, no polio case had been reported in Punjab for more than three years now but presence of the virus in polio samples was indicative of persistent virus risk to the children.
Dr Nauman, the polio focal person of a Rawalpindi tehsil, disclosed that environmental samples were taken from 31 sites across 19 districts of Punjab.
“Virus found in Rawalpindi is linked to the cluster YB3A which is active in Afghanistan. While the virus found in Lahore is linked with Kandahar”, he added.
“It is a matter of satisfaction that no indigenous circulation has been found in Punjab. This means Punjab is at risk of importation”, he explained.
Referring to the steps taken to prevent virus reintroduction in Punjab, Dr Nauman underlined that a mass campaign with a component of community engagement had been rolled out.
The tehsil focal person assured that all communities were being registered so that no child would remain unvaccinated.
