Information Commission fines Registrar over non-provision of information to citizen

KARACHI, Sep 09 (APP):The Sindh Information Commission has imposed a fine equal to 10 percent of basic pay upon Registrar Sindh Service Tribunal Waqas Abid Baloch for not providing Information to a citizen under Section 15 of the Sindh Transparency and Right to Information Act, 2016.
             The Sindh Information Commission had issued several notices to the Respondent and directed to provide the requested information to the Complainant but the respondent did not comply with such orders, a communique said on Saturday.
             The Chief Information Commissioner said, the Commission had provided time and opportunity of defense to the respondent, which he had not availed and there are reasonable grounds to impose penalty provided under section 15 of the Act on account of non- providing the requisite information to the complainant/non-compliance of the order of the Commission.
              Accordingly, the Commission, in exercise of powers vested under Section 15 of the Sindh Transparency and Right to Information Act, 2016 has imposed the fine.

DC for transporters’ cooperation to curb oil smuggling

DG KHAN, Sep 09 (APP):Deputy Commissioner Mehr Shahid Zaman Lak urged transporters to actively support the administration in curbing the smuggling of Iranian oil and maintaining strict adherence to government policies.
On Saturday, Dera Ghazi Khan Transporters Association held a crucial meeting with Deputy Commissioner Mehr Shahid Zaman Lak in the committee room. The Deputy Commissioner revealed that, in accordance with directives from the Punjab government, an extensive ban had been placed on the movement of vehicles carrying smuggled oil.
Under this stringent measure, no vehicles will be granted entry into the district if they are carrying Iranian oil. This decision is part of a broader effort to combat the illicit trade and other prohibited items in the region.
Furthermore, it was emphasized that transporters must refrain from installing additional tanks in their vehicles, with only genuine tanks being permitted. This move is aimed at ensuring transparency, he stated.
Deputy Commissioner Mehr Shahid Zaman Lak concluded the meeting by emphasizing the paramount importance of prioritizing the nation’s interests and diligently enforcing government policies. In a show of unity, the transporters pledged their full cooperation to support these measures.
Key officials, including Additional Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Asad Chandia and Abdul Rahman Nasir, were also present during the meeting.

Two fuel agencies sealed

SARGODHA, Sep 09 (APP):The district administration sealed two illegal petrol/diesel agencies on Saturday over low measurement of scale here.
According to official sources, in line with special directives of Commissioner Sargodha Muhammad Ajmal Bhatti, Assistant Commissioner Kotmomin Chaudhry Rab Nawaz Chadhar, along with his team, checked various fuel agencies in the city and sealed two besides imposing Rs 20,000 fine on them over the law violation.
Cases were also registered against owners of the fuel agencies.

PESCO tightens grip against Kunda Culture

PESHAWAR, Sep 09 (APP):PESCO has narrowed the scope against power thieves after the instruction of the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Minister of Energy by taking timely actions against electricity theft all across the province.
Hundreds of ropes (Kunda’s) were removed in Peshawar, Mardan, Khyber and Bannu and other areas. Spokesperson PESCO told media men here on Saturday. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, more than 400 Kunda’s have been removed so far, the PESCO Spokesperson informed.
Fines of more than Rs. 50 million have been imposed for electricity theft and applications submitted for registration of FIR against more than 200 electricity thieves, he disclosed. He said, several electricity thieves were arrested on the spot and handed over to the Police. Despite the resistance of the electricity thieves, the operation continued on behalf of PESCO, the Spokesperson said.
Security is being provided to PESCO Task Forces by the district administration and PESCO customers can report electricity theft by calling 118, the Spokesperson PESCO said.

Farmers advised to start canola cultivation from Sept 20

FAISALABAD, Sep 09 (APP):The agriculture experts have advised farmers to start cultivation of canola from September 20 and complete it by October 20 to get maximum yield of the cash crop.
A spokesman for the Agriculture (Extension) Department said here Saturday that farmers should use approved varieties of canola for cultivation including Rainbow, Biola-401, Biola-43, Abaseen, Bulbal, Canola Raya, Pacola, etc.

New Hajj policy to be formulated: Aneeq Ahmad

LAHORE, Sep 09 (APP):Caretaker Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Aneeq Ahmed has said blasphemy of Holy Prophet peace be upon him and Holy Quran will not be tolerated.
Also, he added, protection of minorities was included in the government priorities, and Islam teaches respect to all religions.
During a press conference at Jamia Naeemia Lahore on Saturday, the caretaker minister said that without accepting the previous holy books, the faith of Muslims was not complete. “The blasphemy of Quran will not be tolerated. Even if there is blasphemy of verses on flags, it will not be allowed,” he said and added that “our flag is not complete without the white part, which represented the minorities”.
In response to a question, he said there would be no increase in last year’s Hajj expenses. He said the government was formulating a new Hajj policy.
The minister said he wanted to take action for a better change in his ministry as well as society at large so that he was remembered in good words in history. He said the positive outcomes of the government actions were reaching people now. He said the caretaker prime minister was working with great dedication and vision.
The federal minister for religious affairs raised a question that “if our Muslim brother belongs to another sect, why do we consider him an enemy? We all believe in Allah, Holy Prophet and Holy Book Quran”.
He called ulema and Islamic scholars the crown of knowledge. “Through them, we receive knowledge of Holy Quran,” he added.
Speaking at the press conference, Dr. Raghib Hussain Naeemi said implementation of the law could establish peace and security. No individual, group, or organisation was above the law, he made it clear.
“Sectarian and political rivalry in various parts of Pakistan is extremely dangerous. The government should focus on this issue and find out a solution,” he added.

Man commits suicide

SARGODHA, Sep 09 (APP):A man committed suicide over a domestic issue in the jurisdiction of Darya Khan police station on Saturday.
According to details, 20-year-old Sheraz, a resident of Chak No 21-TDA, took his life by consuming poisonous pills.
The deceased was only brother of five sisters.
Police handed over the body to the family after legal procedure.
