Major, soldier embrace martyrdom during Miran Shah operation

RAWALPINDI, Sep 02 (APP): A major and sepoy of Pakistan Army on Friday embraced martyrdom after fighting gallantly amid an intense exchange of fire during an intelligence based operation conducted by the Security Forces on reported presence of terrorists, in general area Miran Shah, North Waziristan District.

A party of terrorists was spotted and intercepted by Major Amir Aziz, who was leading the operation from front during conduct of the operation, whereas resultantly one terrorist was sent to hell while another was injured, an Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) news release said.

The martyrs were identified as Major Amir Aziz (age 29 years, resident of Sargodha District) and Sepoy Muhammad Arif (age 27 years, resident of Sahiwal District) who having fought gallantly, embraced, Shahadat, during heavy exchange of fire.

Sanitization of the area is being carried out to eliminate the terrorists present in the area.

“Security Forces of Pakistan are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our soldiers further strengthen our resolve,” the ISPR said.

ISLAMABAD, Sep 1 (APP): Caretaker Minister for Religious Affairs and Inter-faith Harmony Aneeq Ahmed on Friday said that Pakistan is a peaceful and tolerant place for all communities.

Talking to PTV, he said it is the responsibility of every citizen including media persons to play constructive role for the progress and prosperity of this country. Media’s positive role and awareness program could address social issues, he said.

Commenting on Inter-faith Harmony conference, he said diplomats, Bishops, Hindo, Christian and Sikh personalities are gathered here at a forum and
sent messages to the world nations that Pakistan is a peaceful and tolerant society in the world.

Sardar Satnook Singh said that we are proud to live in this country. He further stated that it is the duty of the people of every community to play progressive role to further strengthen Pakistan.

Bishop Lahore Nadeem Kamran expressing his point of view about religious books, he said we believe in paying respect to all religious books including The Holy Quran. To a question, he said that those who found guilty of crime in Jaranwala incident should be given punishment.

Mufti Muneeb ur Rehman said that everyone should play role for the solidarity, and integrity of Pakistan. About Jaranawala tragedy, he said, we should focus on finding the route causes of such type of incidents. He said that concerned quarters should identify the real perpetrators and awarded
punishment to avoid repeating indecent activity in future.

Soldier embraced martyrdom while thwarting terrorists attack in Tirah

RAWALPINDI, Sep 01 (APP): A soldier of Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom while thwarting terrorists attack in general area of Tirah, Khyber District in the early hours of Friday.

According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), on the night of August 31 and September 1, a fire exchange took place between the Army troops and terrorists in general area Tirah, Khyber District.

The Army troops effectively engaged the terrorists’ location, resulting in killing of one terrorist who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against the security forces and killing of innocent civilians.

However, during intense exchange of fire, Havildar Muntazir Shah (age 36 Years, Resident of Sawabi District) having fought gallantly, embraced shahadat.

“Sanitization of the area is being carried out to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area,” it said.

WHO envoy meets Health Minister Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Sep 01 (APP): World Health Organization’s (WHO) Representative in Pakistan Dr. Palitha Gunarathna Mahipala called on caretaker Federal Minister for Health Dr. Nadeem Jan on Friday and discussed measures taken for the improvement of health sector.

WHO Chief congratulated the Minister for Health on assuming this important responsibility.

The appointment of a world-renowned public health expert is a welcome development for the health sector, Dr Palitha said.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and Dr. Ahmed Al Mandhari, WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean have expressed their happiness about your appointment, he said

WHO has stood by Pakistan in every difficult hour. The services of the World Health Organization in dealing with the outbreak of Coronavirus are commendable.

“We appreciate WHO’s support in polio eradication efforts,” Dr. Nadeem Jan said.

“My mission is to ensure massive reforms in the health sector in the short term. Without the development of health and education, social development cannot be attained,” said the Health Minister.

He added the health sector needs strong investment to meet public aspirations. Health systems are being strengthened to deal with multiplicity and epidemics.

“Providing quality service for the improvement of the health sector is part of my agenda. Primary health care system is also being strengthened,” said the minister.

“We are ensuring universal Health Coverage through National Health Card.” In the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where poliovirus is present, an integrated strategy is being developed.

“I have given this task to the polio program to take every step to stop the spread of the virus by the end of this year.”

Dr. Nadeem Jan said that the support of the World Health Organization in the health sector is commendable.

Caretaker govt bound to respect law & judiciary: Solangi

ISLAMABAD, Sep 01 (APP): Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi on Friday said the caretaker government was duty-bound to respect the law and the judiciary, which functioned freely in the country.

“As a responsible government, it is our duty to respect the judiciary and the law. The matter of Pervez Elahi’s arrest falls within the jurisdiction of law enforcement agencies (LEAs) and the judiciary,” the minister said while talking to a private channel.

The LEAs obeyed the law, he said, adding the media and the judiciary worked independently in the country.

He said every citizen had freedom of speech and a right to criticize that could not be taken away, but at the same time “we also have the right to present the facts without any fear”.

To a query, the minister said efforts were underway to provide relief to the masses in electricity bills and its details would be announced in the shape of decisions.

“Our limited tenure and the Constitution and law allow us to take decisions in the best interest of the country,” he said, vowing that best decisions would be made keeping in view the national interests.

The caretaker government would own and stood by its decisions, he added.

Solangi said his interview with the BBC was presented out of context. “I am in contact with them and in my view, it will be appropriate for them to clarify.”

The Election Commission of Pakistan had expedited the process of delimitation of constituencies, he said while responding to another query.

He said the government would provide all assistance to the ECP to ensure that the election would be held in accordance with the schedule.

HDBA requests Sindh Govt for funds to upgrade library

HYDERABAD, Sep 01 (APP):The Hyderabad District Bar Association (HDBA) has requested the Sindh Government to provide funds to the association for the purchase of books, desktop computers, printers and furniture for the bar’s library.
In a letter addressed to the Sindh Law Minister Muhammad Omer Soomro on Friday, the bar’s President Khuda Bux Laghari submitted that the library required a large number of books, 25 computers and two printers.
Laghari said there are around 6,000 members of the bar but the library consists of only 100 chairs in its limited space.
The association’s office and library not only needed renovation but also expansion, he added.
The bar’s president also attached a list of furniture that they required along with the application.
