Youth kills fiancé in Swabi

PESHAWAR, Sep 06 (APP):A youth with the help of his brother in Jahangira tehsil of Swabi district killed his fiancé and dumped her body near River Indus, police informed on Wednesday.
Police said the incident occurred in the vicinity of Tor Dher police station where a youth named Kamran along with his brothers, Imran and Arshad killed his fiancé and threw her body in Belajaat of River Indus in Moza Jahangira.
Police said the brother of the deceased girl told police that his would be brother-in-law Kamran along with brothers came to their house and took along his sister for a domestic feast. He said later he came to know that his sister has been killed.
Tor Dher police after registering a FIR against the accused, have started investigation into the incident.

Academic activities inspected in schools at Paharpur Tehsil

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Sep 06 (APP):Assistant Commissioner Paharpur Tehsil, Aneeq Anwar, visited various schools to inspect academic activities following the reopening of educational institutions after summer vacations.
He also inspected facilities, including clean drinking water and other facilities, and checked the attendance register.
He met with teachers and discussed professional matters with them and urged them to ensure their daily attendance in order to equip the students with quality education in an undisrupted manner and prepare them for the challenges ahead.
He said that the district administration was committed to ensuring quality education in schools and in this regard, no compromise would be made in order to achieve a bright future for the country.

Caretaker Energy Minister pledges strong action to combat electricity theft

ISLAMABAD, Sep 06 (APP): Caretaker Minister for Energy, Power and Petroleum Muhammad Ali Wednesday underlined government’s unwavering resolve to address electricity theft through stringent measures.

In a press conference alongside Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Murtaza Solangi and Secretary, Energy and Power Division Rashid Mahmood Langrial, he announced the establishment of a task force to overcome power theft.

This task force would operate under the guidance of the Secretary for Energy and Power Division, IGs, Commissioners, and Duty Commissioners at the grassroots level, he added.

The minister underlined the need for reforms within the country’s ten power distribution companies.

Additionally, he noted that five distribution companies were grappling with a Rs100 billion deficit, with no effective billing recovery in their specific areas.

The minister revealed plan to draft an “Energy Theft Law” within a span of three weeks.

Furthermore, it was highlighted that regions including Peshawar, Hyderabad, Quetta, Sakhar, Tribal Areas, AJK, Mardan, and Shikarpur collectively exhibit a deficit of Rs 489 billion.

Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi clarified that no minister received complimentary electricity, and this privilege was unavailable to others as well.

The minister further stressed that the Power Division would initiate departmental action to eliminate power theft once the inquiry report identified the accountable for the ‘human and technical error.’

He stated that the country’s circular debt had accumulated to Rs 2536 billion by December 2022, with an additional Rs 343 billion added for this year.

Additionally, Secretary, Langrial pointed out that line losses surged to Rs 589 billion.

PESHAWAR, Sep 06 (APP):Provincial President of Pakistan Muslim League-N Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Engineer Amir Muqam Thursday visited the grave of Assistant Director of ISI Muhammad Sadiq Shaheed in Dangram area of Swat on the occasion of September 6, Defense Day.
Engineer Amir Muqam laid flowers of sheets on the grave of the martyr and prayed for the elevation of the ranks of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for Pakistan.
Speaking to the media, Engr. Amir Muqam said that today is a day to pay homage to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the defense of the country.
President PML-N Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Engineer Amir Muqam said that let us pledge that we would defeat all internal and external threats through our unity as we did in 1965.
Pakistan Army, other security agencies and the entire nation gave a befitting reply to the enemy, Amir Muqam said.
He said, the officers and jawans of the Pakistan Army and other security agencies have made great sacrifices to rid the country of the scourge of terrorism.
The 1965 war is a glorious chapter in the country’s defense history, the Pakistan Army set great examples of bravery on every front, said Amir Muqam. The nation once again needs national unity and passion, he added.
The Pakistan Army made sacrifices in 1965 to defend the motherland, he said. Pakistan Muslim League (N) Chief Former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif made the country’s defense impregnable when he decided to conduct nuclear tests in 1998, he said. 6 September recalls valor of brave sons of Sialkot at Chawinda tank battle

ISLAMABAD, Sep 6 (APP): On September 6, the people paid glowing tributes to the brave sons of the land and armed forces of Sialkot region who battled against the enemy and defended the Motherland by sacrificing their lives in the battle of tanks at Chawinda during the 1965 Indo-Pak War.

The valiant Pakistan Army, with the active support of brave people of Sialkot, had repulsed an attack by Indians at the battlefield of Chawinda where the biggest tank battle, after the Second World War, was fought during the 1965 war.
Chawinda is known as the world’s biggest graveyard of 600 invading Indian tanks. The brave soldiers of Pakistan Army and the people of Chawinda-Sialkot had written a golden history of bravery by sacrificing their lives to defend their motherland in Sept 1965.
It was a rare show of bravery that the brave soldiers of Pakistan Army and the local people had laid down under the invading Indian tanks with bombs on their bodies, and blew up themselves, completely destroying hundreds of Indian
tanks, said Defence Analyst Dr. Muhammad Khan while talking to a Private news channel.
The Chawinda based Ghazi of 1965 War also recalled that the whole of the world watched that the Pakistani nation was dropping even the last drops of their blood for defending Pakistan and knocked out the invading army.
September 6 stands out as a symbol of our enduring display of Unity, Faith and Discipline as a nation, said a citizen of Sialkot.
No doubt every year this day reminds us of determination, selflessness and sacrifices of our Armed Forces, which they had rendered for the Defence of Pakistan, said Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad Chairman, Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
The visiting people on the graveyards of Martyred has also paid rich tribute to all martyrs and Ghazis, adding, they said that September 6 stands out as a symbol of our enduring display of Unity, Faith and Discipline as a nation.
The world’s biggest tank battle was fought near Chawinda in 1965, said a citizen of Sialkot, adding, the Defence Day was observed in Sialkot with traditional zeal for the district had witnessed the historic tanks battlefield in 1965.
A large number of people in Sialkot and other cities also visited the venue and showed keen interest in the exhibition related to the Defence Day, said Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Naeem Khalid Lodhi, a defense analyst, adding that the people were paying homage to the personnel who embraced martyrdom while defending the country during the 1965 war.

President for 30-35 percent women’s participation in business sector

LAHORE, Sep 06 (APP):President Dr. Arif Alvi on Wednesday emphasized the importance of women’s empowerment  and called for increasing their participation in business sector by 30-35 percent for economic
revival.
He urged the business community to create a conducive and harassment-free environment
for women professionals, highlighting the government’s efforts in this area and encouraging
both the public and private sectors to collaborate.
During a meeting with the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) delegation here
at Governor House, President Dr. Arif Alvi accompanied by First Lady Samina Alvi discussed
the need for tangible surveys, seminars, awareness sessions and other initiatives to promote
women’s active involvement in various business sectors.
He also encouraged the LCCI delegation to take measures for economic revival and social
welfare projects, stressing that business community cooperation could attract foreign investment,
particularly in the IT sector.
Talking about the issue of education, President Alvi said, more than 25 million Pakistani children
still not attending schools despite extraordinary efforts which was a deplorable. He stressed the
need for using thousands of schools and Mosques for classes, and extra shifts in schools to
address the challenge.
Furthermore, President Alvi emphasized the importance of individual efforts in educating domestic
workers, and called on the business community to support people with disabilities, mental illnesses,
and breast cancer patients. He commended the Lahore Chamber for achieving its target of
providing 25 percent jobs to women.
LCCI President Kashif Anwar informed the President Alvi about LABARD (Lahore Businessmen
Association for Rehabilitation of the Disabled), a non-profit organization works under the patronage
of Lahore Chamber’s management, which had provided artificial organs to 100,000 people for
rehabilitation.
The delegates praised President Dr. Arif Alvi for his dedication to addressing social and medical
issues and acknowledged his contributions in this regard.
LCCI Executive Committee members Fareeha Yunas, Shamim Akhtar, Muhammad Waseem,
Raja Hassan Akhtar, Shahid Khalil and Director General Trade Organizations Umar Dad Afridi
were also present on the occasion.

Ceremony held in connection with Defense Day at Kohat

KOHAT, Sep 6 (APP):District Administration Kohat here Wednesday arranged a ceremony in connection with Pakistan Defense Day.
The ceremony among others was attended by officers of district administration Kohat, Department of Education, Rescue 1122, District Youth Officer, Civil Defense Officer and large number of teachers and students of schools.
English and Urdu declamation contest and tableaus were held to mark the day while school children sing national songs and anthems to highlighted services of people and forces on defense day.
Speaking on the occasion, Additional Assistant Commissioner said that September 6 is the day that reminds us the unity and spirit exhibited by security forces to foil evil intentions of enemy.
He said we should remember the sacrifices offered by security forces and people of country to defend the motherland on September 6.
