PMDC, APPNA to start collaboration in medical education

ISLAMABAD, Sep 21 (APP): Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) and Association of Physicians of Pakistan Descent of North America (APPNA) on Thursday decided to start collaboration and mutual support to improve the standard of medical education.

This was decided during the visit of the Chair of the Advocacy Committee of the APPNA Dr. Attiqui Samdani to PMDC to strengthen ties and promote collaborative opportunities for the advancement of healthcare standards and professional support.

Dr. Attiqui Samdani met President PM&DC Dr. Rizwan Taj during the visit and held productive discussion.

The primary focus was to enhance cooperation between APPNA and PM&DC, with the shared goal of elevating healthcare practices, education, and regulation in both the United States and Pakistan.

The discussions underscored collaboration’s importance in promoting positive changes in the healthcare sector.

Dr. Samdani expressed APPNA’s commitment to supporting PM&DC’s initiatives aimed at ensuring high-quality continuing medical education, continuing professional development, and ethical medical practices in Pakistan.

Dr. Attiqui Samdani said, “We believe in the power of collaborative efforts to drive transformative changes in healthcare, and we are eager to work hand in hand with PM&DC to bolster the medical landscape in both nations, by aligning our strengths and resources.”

“We can elevate medical education, training, and standards, ultimately benefitting patients and communities,” he added.

He said that APPNA envisioned a future where healthcare professionals from both the United States and Pakistan could benefit from shared knowledge, resources, and experiences.

The President PM&DC also extended his full support in expediting prompt disposal of registrations and other issues of Pakistani doctors working in USA.

KSrelief distributes 9,400 food packages in flood-hit Sindh, Punjab regions

ISLAMABAD, Sep 21 (APP): King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has distributed 9,400 essential food packages to assist individuals affected by recent floods in various regions of Sindh and Punjab.

The center distributed packages in Sindh’s Dadu and Sujhawal and Punjab’s Bahawalnagar and Muzaffargarh regions in a collaborative effort with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), said a statement issued by Saudi embassy on Thursday.

According to this initiative, it would bring much-needed relief to 65,800 people across the country.

Each package is thoughtfully designed to provide essential sustenance, weighing a total of 95 kgs and containing 80kg of flour, 5 liters of cooking oil, 5kg of sugar, and 5kg of Daal Chana.

These provisions are carefully curated to support a family’s nutritional needs throughout the month.

Federal Ombudsman’s Dera office listens complaints in South Waziristan

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Sep 21 (APP):Senior Investigation Officer Regional Office of the Federal Ombudsman Imran Khan paid a visit to South Waziristan and listened to citizens’ complaints against federal organizations.
During the three-day visit which he undertook as per directives of Federal Ombudsman Ijaz Ahmed Qureshi, he listened 288 complaints at the Complaint Collection Center Wana against federal departments including Benazir Income Support Programme(BISP), National Database and Registration Authority(NADRA) and PTCL etc.
 He issued directives to the officials concerned of those departments to address the complaints which were noted during the three-day at the earliest and extend relief to people of the area, instantly.
In this regard, he said no laxity or negligence should be shown on part of any official and timely measures should be taken, he added.
 On this occasion, Senior Investigation Officer Imran Khan said that it was a top priority to solve the cases in a short period of time.
He said that staff of Wana office was honestly performing their duties in light of the clear instructions of from Federal Ombudsman Ijaz Ahmad Qureshi and Federal Ombudsman Regional Office Dera Ismail Khan Sang-E-Marjan Khan Mehsud to redress the legitimate complaints of the citizens, immediately.

Police conduct search operations in different areas

RAWALPINDI, Sep 21 (APP):Police have conducted search operations in Wah Cantt, Taxila, Naseerabad, Airport, Westridge and adjoining areas in the jurisdiction of Wah Cantt, Taxila, Naseerabad, Airport and Westridge Police Stations, said a police spokesman here on Thursday.
He informed that Rawalpindi district police, women police and other law enforcement agencies under the supervision of senior police officers participated in the search operations.
He said that Rawalpindi district police on the directives of Senior Superintendent of Police, Operations conducted search operations and inspected 175 houses, 32 shops, besides checking 197 persons.
The supremacy of the law would be ensured and the crackdown against the lawbreakers would continue, SP Potohar Muhammad Waqas Khan said.

Aneeq highlights need to strengthen Muslim unity, perception worldwide

ISLAMABAD, Sep 21 (APP): Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Aneeq Ahmed on Thursday met with Muslim World League Secretary-General Dr. Mohmmad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa in Riyadh, and highlighted the urgent need to strengthen the unity and perception of the Muslim Ummah on the globe.
During the meeting, both the leaders explored solutions to issues facing the Muslim community through the MWL platform, said a statement issued here.

Minister Aneeq emphasized the importance of adapting to modern knowledge and the necessity of both short-term and long-term planning to alleviate poverty within the Muslim Ummah. He acknowledged that contemporary challenges such as Islamophobia, climate change, and increasing secularism required concerted efforts and dialogue with non-Muslim communities.

Minister Aneeq underscored the significance of fostering dialogue and understanding with non-Muslims, portraying it as a battle against ignorance rather than a clash of civilizations. He stressed that Islam promoted humanity and service to all without any discrimination as “the duty to serve is essence of faith.”
Furthermore, both leaders expressed their mutual desire to promote dialogue at governmental and religious leader levels. In a collaborative effort, they announced the establishment of a ‘Seerat Museum’ in Pakistan, with the support of MWL, aimed at preserving and promoting Islamic heritage.

Secretary-General Dr. Mohmmad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa commended Pakistan’s role as a crucial Islamic nation and recognized its unwavering commitment to the Islamic world. He affirmed that Pakistan’s contributions to the Muslim Ummah should never be underestimated.

Dr. Al-Issa also revealed plans for laying the foundation stone of the ‘Seerat Museum’ during his visit to Pakistan in November, solidifying the collaboration between Pakistan and the MWL.

PSX turns around, gains 312 points

ISLAMABAD, Sep 21 (APP):The 100-index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) turned around on Thursday and gained 312.55 points, showing a positive change of 0.68 per cent, closing at 46,202.13 points against 45,889.58 points the previous day.

A total of 172,158,686 shares valuing Rs.5.345 billion were traded during the day as compared to 129,372,427 shares valuing Rs.3.639 billion the previous day.

As many as 327 companies transacted their shares in the stock market; 195 of them recorded gains and 102 sustained losses, whereas the share price of 30 companies remained unchanged.

The three top-trading companies were SEARLR2 with 25,210,712 shares at Rs 0.15 per share, Maple Leaf with 15,320,162 shares at Rs 29.78 per share, and WorldCall Telecom with 7,596,267 shares at Rs.1.15 per share.

Rafhan Maize witnessed a maximum increase of Rs.200.00 per share price, closing at Rs.8050.00, whereas the runner-up was Premium Textile with a Rs 28.36 rise in its per share price to Rs 406.46.

Unilever FoodsXD witnessed a maximum decrease of Rs.1,155.00 per share closing at Rs 20,100.00, followed by Colgate Palm with a Rs 17.94 decline to close at Rs.1,387.72.

Danish envoy praises LWMC’s temporary collection point project

LAHORE, Sep 21 (APP):The Lahore Waste Management Company’s (LWMC) innovative green temporary collection point (TCP) project has garnered international acclaim as a delegation from the Denmark embassy, led by Ambassador Jakob Linulf, visited various sites to witness its transformative impact.
The delegation, which included head of Trade Council of Denmark Embassy Aslam Perwaiz and Commercial Adviser Daniya Basit, was warmly welcomed by LWMC Chief Executive Officer Babar Sahib Din, who provided a comprehensive overview of the green TCP project’s objectives and progress.
He highlighted LWMC’s commitment to converting 17 temporary collection points across the city into green TCPs in a phased approach. The primary aim of the initiative is to combat environmental pollution and create a healthier working environment for dedicated labor force, he said.
Ambassador Jakob Linulf commended the innovative concept behind the green TCPs, recognizing its uniqueness. He applauded LWMC’s dual mission of preserving a green environment while efficiently managing waste in the city.
