ISLAMABAD, Sep 27 (APP): The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) on Wednesday filed a miscellaneous application to Supreme Court and requested permission to withdraw review petition in Faiazabad sit-in case.
The authority had stated in its application that it didn’t want to pursue the review petition and requested the top court to allow it to withdraw the case.
It may be mentioned here that the top court’s bench would take up Faizabad sit-in review petitions tomorrow for hearing. Earlier, the Intelligence Bureau (IB) had also filed an identical application to the SC for withdrawal of review petition.


ISLAMABAD, Sep 27 (APP): In a statement on Wednesday the Supreme Court said it was misreported that the top court had expressed its disapproval of love marriages during hearing a matter pertaining to a family dispute on custody of two minor daughter.
On the contrary, better sense prevailed when the parties were reminded of the power of love, which when applied to the matter of their children, resulted in an amicable resolution of the case–said a press release.
It said that on 26 September 2023, a family matter came before Courtroom No. 1 of the Supreme Court pertaining to parents fighting over the custody of their two minor daughters. It transpired that the parents had entered into a love marriage, and during the hearing the Court observed that they should apply the same principle, of love, in attending to their children’s welfare.
ISLAMABAD, Sep 27 (APP): Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) Chairman Dr. Qibla Ayaz on Wednesday emphasized the need to reconsider term ‘minority’ and instead highlight the religious identity of individuals in the light of changing global demographics and increased migration of religious practitioners.
Addressing a press conference after the CII’s 234th special session titled ‘Interfaith Harmony: State and Society’s Responsibilities,’ he highlighted the fundamental principle that “all religions inherently teach human respect and honor” therefore, followers of all faiths should practice these values in their religious teachings.
Dr. Qibla unequivocally denounced any form of hate, violence, or extremism in the name of religion and said such actions were a departure from religious teachings and often serve political or worldly interests.
He said leaders of all faiths must actively discourage such ideologies.
The chairman said to establish global peace, concerted efforts to promote interfaith harmony among diverse religious practitioners were crucial.
Dr. Qibla called for religious leaders to collaborate in promoting respect for Prophet Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him (PBUH) , all other honored prophets, and sacred religious sites.
He said it was imperative to ensure swift justice and visible penalties for individuals involved in incidents like Jaranwala to deter future occurrences.
Dr. Qibla reiterated the demand of council for the establishment of special courts to expeditiously hear cases related to such crimes and punish the perpetrators.
He urged the public not to take the law into their own hands, as doing so was contrary to the Quran, Sunnah, the Constitution, and established national norms.
He opined that any violations of the law should be dealt with through legal channels.
Dr. Qibla said attacking, vandalizing, or disrespecting places of worship was condemnable and illegal under Pakistani laws adding that religious leaders were committed to combating this trend socially.
The chairman said interfaith cooperation and peaceful coexistence could help control religious, societal, and political issues expressing the hope that religious leaders and institutions would take responsibility for their roles.
Responding to query, Dr. Qibla said the council was planning to go beyond curricula from primary to university levels and preparing recommendations in a bid to bring significant changes in the overall education sector.
Seconding the proposal of Dr. Qibla Ayaz, Minister of State and Chairman for Prime Minister Task Force on Gandhara Tourism Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani said the term ‘minority’ expressed narrow-mindedness and instead ‘equal rights citizens’ to be adopted as the Constitution call it non-Muslim citizens and there was no mention of the word minority.
The meeting was attended by Pir Abul Hasan Muhammad Shah, Dr. Abdul Ghafoor Rashid, Pir Khalid Sultan, Allama Muhammad Hussain Akbar, Syed Ziaullah Shah Bukhari, Pirzada Junaid Amin, Mufti Muhammad Zubair, Justice Zafar Iqbal, Justice Altaf Ibrahim, Allah Bakhsh Kalyar, Jalaluddin Advocate, and Farida Rahim, besides religious leaders of other religions including, Bishop Samuel Azariah (Director Christian Study Center, Rawalpindi), Father Sylvester Joseph (Priest Catholic Church, Islamabad), Sohail Habel (Catholic Christian Leader, Humanitarian Action for Rights and Development Society), Christopher Sherif (Christian Study Center) , Rawalpindi), Pritam Das (Former President Hindu Panchayat), Asfandyar Bhandara (Parsi Leader), Ramesh Singh Arora (Sikh Leader), Prof. Mehrdad (Bahai Leader), and Tariq Mehmood Ghauri (Catholic Church, Islamabad).
ISLAMABAD, Sep 27 (APP): Caretaker Federal Minister for Health Dr. Nadeem Jan met with the ambassador of Saudi Arabia Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki on Wednesday and discussed matters related to the health sector.
The minister said that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have historically strong brotherly relations.
The Saudi ambassador assured that Saudi Arabia will fully cooperate with Pakistan in the welfare projects of its people.
The minister shared that Pakistan is all set to host the first-ever Global Health Security Summit later this year in Islamabad reflecting the strongest commitment of the country at the highest level to the Global Health Security Agenda.
The Saudi ambassador highly appreciated the initiative of holding the Global Health Security Summit.
The minister shared that coordinated steps are being taken to ensure an uninterrupted supply of medicines across the country on a permanent basis.
The ambassador was informed that although Pakistan is manufacturing vaccines there is a need for transfer of technology to enhance capacity.
He added the ministry is looking forward to starting collaboration with friendly countries.
The minister said that steps are being taken to establish Pharma Park in the country.
He said that through the transfer of technology, the production of molecules will improve the supply of medicines.
