United Insurance acquires entire undertaking of SPI Insurance

ISLAMABAD, Dec 04 (APP): The Sindh High Court has sanctioned the scheme of merger, transferring the entire undertaking and business of M/s SPI Insurance Company Limited to and vested in the United Insurance Company of Pakistan.
Subsequently, in pursuance of the court authorization, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) revoked the registration of M/s SPI Insurance Company Limited as an insurer under sub-section (2) of Section 9 of the Insurance Ordinance 2000.
M/s SPI Insurance Company Limited no longer exists and any business activity carried out by it or any liability incurred by it shall be payable by the United Insurance Company of Pakistan Limited.
For any claim or responsibility pertaining to their insurance policies, all policyholders of the SPI Insurance may contact with United Insurance Company of Pakistan Limited.

HCSTSI President urges GIS implementation for Sindh small industries

HYDERABAD, Dec 04 (APP): President Hyderabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industry (HCSTSI) Muhammad Farooq Shaikhani on Monday has urged the Sindh government for implementation of Geographical Information System (GIS) for Small Industrial Initiatives in Sindh Small Industry Corporation (SSIC).

In a letter written to caretaker provincial Minister for Revenue, Commerce and Industry Muhammad Younus Dahga, he said that there was a need to master geographic information system through a modern technology that will lead to success in database integration, overall productivity and creating superior management dashboards. He reminded that this system had already been implemented in the board of revenue, education department and PDMA and it was providing excellent results too.

The President HCSTSI briefly explained that this system would provide infrastructure for small scale industries, promote them, provide training to the youth of the province in various crafts and trades, encourage the establishment of small scale industries in rural areas and design the artisans according to the market demand and also provide assistance in adaptation. It will also provide excellent support to SSIC in providing facilities to the artisans during participation in fairs and exhibitions in handicraft shops, local and foreign markets, he said.

According to him, this system will also provide insight into geographical aspects of operations, help in depth analysis, allocation of resources and identification of potential risks. It will help in finding new small scale industries in Sindh province.

He said that in order to implement this system, it was necessary for the management to work as a team to understand the challenges and collect spatial data, maps, satellite images and other geographic information required for the dashboard along with effective use of the system.

He concluded by saying that the world was taking the help of technology to improve its systems and it was high time that the Sindh government should also make technology an integral part of its administrative affairs so that the province witness more development and investor’s confidence could also be restored.

CDA grants approval for CCP building plan

ISLAMABAD, Dec 04 (APP): The Design Vetting Committee of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Monday granted formal approval for the building plan of the Competition Commission of Pakistan, which definitely marks a new era for the CCP.

The construction of new the building will eventually enable CCP to further expand its operations within its current budget across other cities innthe wake of surging costs of rent, utilities, and staff hiring, due to inflation, said an official of CCP.

In year 2018, the CDA had allocated plots, spanning 5.5 kanals in Sector G-10/4, Mauve Area to CCP. The building plan did counter the roadblocks, thus delaying the entire project for two years.

The proposed building plan reflects a future-oriented design, encompassing state-of-the-art office spaces. This features a dedicated hearing room, an information resource centre, and a crèche facility tailored for female employee — an embodiment of CCP’s commitment to fostering a modern and inclusive workspace.

Saudi minister engages global aviation leaders at ICAN 2023, emphasizes economic impact of air transport

RIYADH, Dec 4 (APP): Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistic Services and Chairman of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), Eng. Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser on Monday participated in the ministerial session themed “Impact of air transport on economic development” at the 15th International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) Air Services Negotiation event, ICAN 2023.
According to SPA, the event, hosted by GACA, drew participation from aviation industry leaders spanning over 100 countries and witnessed discussions among ministers and heads of civil aviation agencies.
He underscored the integral role of Saudi Arabia’s aviation strategy in advancing economic development, aligning with the ambitious objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
Highlighting the support received from the wise leadership and the continuous guidance of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the minister emphasized the pivotal role played by the aviation sector in enhancing the quality of life in the Kingdom.
“Thanks to the achievements of the Saudi aviation strategy, the Kingdom has become closer and more connected to the world,” he remarked. He elaborated on the strategy’s comprehensive plans and programmes designed to propel the rapid development of the air transport sector, focusing on expanding the connectivity of Saudi airports.
Eng. Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser outlined the broader economic impact, stating, “All these efforts contribute to supporting the Saudi economy.” He shared the ministry’s aim to elevate the contribution of the transport and logistics sector to 10 percent of the GDP, viewing the civil aviation sector as a primary driver in achieving this ambitious goal.
The ministerial session also featured insights from global counterparts, including Minister of Transportation of Indonesia Budi Karya Sumadi, Minister of External Affairs, International Trade and Civil Aviation of Saint Lucia Alva Romanus Baptiste and Minister of Transport of the Seychelles Antony Derjacques. They collectively explored the experiences of their respective countries’ aviation sectors and their pivotal roles in economic development, prosperity, and increased connectivity.
As ICAN 2023 continues, the collaborative discussions among global aviation leaders promise to shape the future of air transport and its impact on economic landscapes.

ECP unveils constituency delimitation for Abbottabad district

ABBOTTABAD, Dec 04 (APP): The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday has disposed of the appeal against the delimitation of new national and provincial assembly constituencies and revealed the revised NA and provincial constituencies for Abbottabad.
The detailed breakdown of the two National Assembly constituencies is as following:
NA-16 Abbottabad-I include Tehsil Havelian, Tehsil Lora, Bokot, Bagan, Mirpur Cantonment, and Galyat. NA-17 Abbottabad-II comprises on Tehsil Lower Tanawal and Tehsil Abbottabad.
The details of four provincial constituencies were included PK-42 Abbottabad-I encompasses Bokot, Banda Qazi, Mirpur I, Orsh I, Orsh II, Orsh III, Banda Pir Khan, Pawa, Rach Bahen, and Kakot.
PK-43 Abbottabad-II comprising Tehsil Lower Tanawal, Galyat, Murree Galees Cantonment, Nangikhel Patwar Circle Orsh I, Dhamtour I and II, Patwar Circle Orsh II, Chhattari Patwar Circle, Havelian Patwar Circle and Gardi Phalgran.
PK-44 Abbottabad-III covers Tehsil Lower Tanawal, Tehsil Havelian, Chumadh, and Orsh I and PK-45 Abbottabad-IV encompasses Cantonment Board areas, Municipal Committee Abbottabad, Nawanshehr, Orsh I, Chumadh, Nangikhel, Orsh II, Banda Qazi, Dhamtour I and II, Mirpur I and II, Chhattari, Banda Pir Khan, Pawa, Rach Bahen, Kakot.
This significant development comes as part of the Election Commission’s efforts to redefine electoral boundaries. These changes aim to ensure fair representation and better alignment with the demographic landscape of Abbottabad.

No crisis in meeting ECP’s financial needs for holding general elections: Solangi

ISLAMABAD, Dec 4 (APP): Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs Murtaza Solangi on Monday ruled out any “crisis on meeting the financial needs of the ECP” in order to hold free, fair and transparent general elections in the country.

“The Cabinet had approved Rs 42 billion for the budgetary needs of the ECP. An amount of Rs 10 billion was already released,” the minister wrote on X formerly Twitter.

He said the Election Commission of Pakistan had approached to release Rs 17.4 billion, out of the budgeted amount.
“Whatever budgeted amount is needed by the ECP, will be released as per its needs accordingly,” Solangi added.

He said the caretaker government firmly stood behind the ECP in holding free and fair elections as mandated by Article 218(3) of the Constitution.
