Power suspension on Mardan, Peshawar grids notified

PESHAWAR, Dec 06 (APP):Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) on Wednesday notified that due to maintenance work power supply will remain suspended from Mardan grid station on 8th December from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. resultantly, consumers of New Matini, Tilaband, Dara, Old Matini, Matini City, Rezwan Flour Mill, Zangali Badbari feeders will face inconvenience.

It said that power supply will also remain suspended from Mardan Grid Station on 8th December from 1 p.m.to 5 p.m. resultantly, consumers of Hassan Khel, Aka Khel, New Azakhel, Old Azakhel, Dawazgai feeders will face inconvenience.

Likewise, it said power supply will remain suspended from Peshawar Fort Grid Station on 9th December from 9 a.m.to10 a.m. resultantly, consumers of Bashir Abad, Karim Pura, Dabgari, Qissa Khwani, New LRH, Radio Pakistan, Government House, Pak Medical Center, Kohati Gate, People Mandi feeders will face inconvenience.

The power supply will also remain suspended from Peshawar Fort Grid Station on 9th December from 10 a.m.to 11 a.m. resultantly, consumers of Fort Jail, Chowk Yadgar, Kakshal , Secretariat, Shoba, Deans, Judicial Complex, MES 1, MES feeders will face inconvenience.

CEC commends KP election preparations in meeting with caretaker CM

ISLAMABAD, Dec 06 (APP): Chief Election Commissioner, (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja in a meeting with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Caretaker Chief Minister, Justice (Retd) Arshad Hussain Shah on Wednesday expressed satisfaction with the election preparations in the province.

According to an ECP spokesperson, the caretaker CM updated the CEC on the preparations for the upcoming general elections in the province.

The spokesman stated that the CEC was pleased with the election arrangements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Afghan authorities close Torkham Border for crossing

PESHAWAR, Dec 06 (APP): The Afghan authorities on Wednesday closed the Torkham Border crossing on their side after raising an objection over installation of a “Welcome to Pakistan” signboard by the Pakistani authorities on its side.

The border officials said the Afghan authorities have closed the border crossing for every kind of movement on their side as a protest. The Pakistani authorities were installing a signboard inscribed with “Welcome to Pakistan” at Torkham zero point upon which the Afghan authorities raised an objection and in protest closed the border.

The border authorities said the situation has led to closure of all kinds of trading and transit traffic and pedestrian crossing at the border. The officials further said that the Afghan move may adversely affect the regional trader and cause commercial and financial losses to the traders on both sides.

This move not only harms bilateral trade but also widens the gap between brotherly people and countries besides, creating obstacles and delays in regional trade and transport movement.
