Gold rates up by Rs.1,600 to Rs.221,300 per tola
ISLAMABAD, Jan 2 (APP): The per tola price of 24 karat gold increased by Rs.1,600 and was sold at Rs.221,300 on Tuesday compared to its sale at Rs.219,700 on the last trading day.
The price of 10 grams of 24 karat gold also increased by Rs.1,372 to Rs.189,729 from Rs. 188,357 whereas the price of 10 grams 22 karat gold went up to Rs.173,918 from Rs. 172,661, the All Sindh Sarafa Jewellers Association reported.
The price of per tola and ten-gram silver remained unchanged at Rs2,680 and Rs.2,297.66 respectively.
The price of gold in the international market increased by $.12 and was sold at $2,094 against $2,082, the Association reported.
Dr. Shahzad urges political parties to contest upcoming elections on manifesto
ISLAMABAD, Jan 2 (APP): Opposition leader in Senate Dr. Shahzad Waseem has urged political parties to contest the upcoming elections based on a manifesto focused on public welfare.
Speaking during a session in the Senate, he emphasized the need for unity among political parties to address the challenges being faced by the country.
Dr. Shahzad Waseem also called for economic stability and the continuity of policies beneficial to the country.
He advocated for a level playing field in the upcoming elections, stressing that political parties should be allowed to run their campaigns independently.
The opposition leader urged for ensuring a secure environment for political parties to conduct their election campaigns.
He highlighted past incidents, including the killings of political leaders like Benazir Bhutto and ANP leaders during previous election campaigns.

ANF recovers 214 kg drugs in nine operations
RAWALPINDI, Jan 02 (APP): Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) while conducting nine operations across the country managed to recover 214 kg drugs and arrested six accused including a woman, said an ANF Headquarters spokesman here on Tuesday.
He informed that 2.4 kg heroin was recovered from a passenger going to Doha on Qatar Airways at Lahore Airport.
100 grams heroin was recovered from a parcel booked for Sri Lanka at a courier office on Shahrah-e-Faisal.
209 kg hashish was recovered in four operations near Morgah border in Khyber.
In an operation, 2 kg hashish was recovered near GT Road Peshawar.
Eight cocaine-filled capsules were recovered from the possession of a Nigerian resident netted from Khayaban-e-Sir Syed Rawalpindi area.
956 grams heroin was recovered from three accused arrested from Kanganpur.
Cases under the CNS Act have been registered against the arrested accused while further investigations are under process.
PHC Abbottabad bench reinstates deposed dean of Ayub Medical College
ABBOTTABAD, Jan 02 (APP): Peshawar High Court (PHC) Abbottabad bench Tuesday while giving its verdict reinstated the former deposed Dean of Ayub Medical College, Omer Farooq.
According to the details, in recent developments, the former dean of Ayub Medical College was removed from his
position by the Chairman of the Board of Directors a week ago, citing his appointment as a violation of merit.
The duties were subsequently assigned to the new dean, Professor Dr. Asif Kareem, who assumed the office.
Dr. Omer Farooq promptly challenged this decision before the PHC Abbottabad bench, seeking relief. Following
