10 nabbed on law violations

SARGODHA, Jan 23 (APP):District police on Tuesday launched a massive crackdown against law violators across the district and claimed to have busted 10 criminals.
Police said that the teams raided at different localities and nabbed 10 law breakers including Sami-Ullah,Atta-Ullah,Faheem,Shahzad,Nouman,Tahir,Tariq,Bashir,Iqbal and Jahangir besides recovering 117 liters of liquor,2 kg of Hashish,1.3 kg of heroin ,09 pistols,03 Guns,99 bullets and valuables worth in millions of rupees from them.

KARACHI, Jan 23 (APP):Three ships, Conti Courage, Bolan and Kaisa 1 carrying containers, Gas oil and LPG, berthed at Container Terminal, Oil Terminal and Engro Terminal respectively on Monday, 22nd January-2024.

Meanwhile, three more sips MSC Vilda X, Marangas Asclepius and Limra with Containers and LPG also arrived at the outer anchorage of the port during the last 24 hours.

A total of 07 ships were engaged at PQA berths during the last 24 hours, out of them, two Conti Courage and AAI Prelude left the port on Tuesday morning and three more ships, Ashika Victoria, Bolan and Mookda Naree are expected to sail on today afternoon.

During the last 24 hours stood at 90,133 tonnes, comprising 71,929 tonnes imports cargo and 18,204 tonnes export cargo, including containers cargo carried in 1,160 Containers (429 TEUs Imports and 731 TEUs export) handled at the port.

There are six ships at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, out of them five ships, MSC Vilda X, Marangas Asclepius, Limra, Charade and Sea Runner carrying Containers, LPG, Steel coil Mogas are expected to take berths at QICT, SSGC, MW-1 and FOTCO on Tuesday, 23rd January 2024, while two more ships, maersk Pittsburg and Clemens Schulte carrying containers are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Wednesday, 24th January-2024.

Four killed in accident

ISLAMABAD, Jan 23 (APP): Four women were killed and two others, including a young girl, sustained injuries when an over-speeding Mazda van collided with a rickshaw on the National Highway in Shikarpur Tuesday morning.

According to Rescue 1122 sources, the accident took place near Achi Masjid area of Town Madeji due to dense fog and poor visibility, a Private news channel reported.

The police said that the bodies and injured were shifted to a hospital.
Three of the four women were identified as Farida, Hajira and Najma.

33 Pakistani students graduate from China Three Gorges scholarship program

BEIJING, Jan. 23 (APP): Two groups of 33 Pakistani students completed their studies under a scholarship program sponsored by China Three Gorges Corporation.
As many as 13 of the graduates are currently employed at Karot Hydropower Plant.

The scholarship was established to assist Pakistani students in completing their studies and achieving their dreams, while also contributing to the development and implementation of clean energy, according to media reports.

The program is the first full scholarship program in Pakistan funded by Chinese enterprises with long-term planning. CTG will contribute at least USD 1 million to fund up to 100 students with full scholarships. The program began in 2017 and will enroll five groups of students in total.

The scholarship program adopts a ‘2+2’ collaborative education model, in which the first two years of the program will be completed at the University of Punjab, and the latter two years will be completed at JUST.
China Three Gorges Corporation recently held its CTG-Pakistan relocation scholarship stage acceptance symposium at Jiangxi University of Science and Technology (JUST).

The CTG-Pakistan Program, established by CTG, aims to support the Belt and Road initiative and the development of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, in which CTG is an active participant.

Pakistan to facilitate Chinese companies in field of smart city construction

BEIJING, Jan. 23 (APP): Pakistan is actively promoting digitization and embracing new technologies and industries to foster comprehensive economic and social development.

“The Pakistan Embassy in China will continue to provide comprehensive support and assistance to Chinese companies, including Beijing Urban Construction Intelligent Control (BUCIC), in facilitating the implementation of big data projects in Pakistan and promoting cooperation between China and Pakistan in the field of smart city construction,” said Aslam Chaudhary, Economic Minister in Pakistan Embassy in Beijing.

Aslam Chaudhary led a delegation to BUCIC to enhance bilateral cooperation in the field of digital city development.
During the visit, the delegation toured BUCIC’s state-of-the-art facilities, which encompassed the Digital Experience Center and the Urban Rail Transit Cloud Intelligent IoT Laboratory.

They were highly impressed by the digital transportation and smart city-related products, with a special focus on the integrated intelligent control center.

The integrated control center incorporates a range of facilities and functions, such as station control rooms, customer service centers, fire control rooms and ticket booths, contributing to intelligent operation and maintenance, China Economic Net (CEN) reported on Tuesday.
Following the visit, both parties engaged in an in-depth discussion encompassing topics such as the upgrade and renovation of the railway system within Pakistan and the development of the Gwadar Port.

Wang Linghong, the CEO of BUCIC, provided updates on the Gwadar New International Airport project undertaken by Beijing Urban Construction Group.
“BUCIC serves as a crucial part of Beijing Urban Construction Group’s technology industrialization sector. With our technological advantages in cloud platforms, big data, and artificial intelligence, our company is committed to providing professional and comprehensive services in digital transportation and urban development for Pakistan, thereby facilitating Pakistan’s digital transformation and upgrade.” Wang stated.

Dense fog grips parts of KP; low visibility affects traffic

PESHAWAR, Jan 23 (APP): Like other parts of the country, dense fog prevailed for the second consecutive day in the provincial capital and most parts of the province during the last 24 hours while substantially decreasing the temperatures.

Due to low visibility, the tariff remained very thin in the cities while the public transport was also affected thus causing inconvenience for the commuters of inter-city.

The National Highway and Motorways Authority closed the M-1 motorway from Peshawar to Islamabad and Swat expressways and diverted the traffic to GT road.

The mercury dropped to 03C in the provincial capital with 86 percent humidity in the air.

According to the Met Office, very cold and dry weather would prevail in most districts of the province, adding there were chances of rains and snow in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from Thursday.

In the last twenty-four hours, the lowest temperature recorded in the various districts of the province was Saidu Sharif and Malam Jabba -01, Kalam -07, Chitral and Dir -03, Parachinar -02, Mirkhani -03 DI Khan and Bannu 04 and Mardan 01.

ISLAMABAD, Jan 23 (APP):Citizens in various cities including the capital are facing almost freezing temperatures due to dense fog that engulfs in the morning and stays on for hours after daybreak where health experts asked people to remain vigilant while maintaining a healthy diet and using face masks.
 A thick layer of fog has enveloped many cities in Punjab including Lahore, paralyzing routine life and disrupting road traffic, a private news channel reported.
 The recent cold wave and foggy conditions have already made living conditions difficult with people already suffering due to power load shedding and low pressure of gas.
  In these circumstances, the number of people complaining of cold-related ailments has also shot up over the last few days.
According to the doctors working in various city hospitals, elderly persons and children are found to be the most affected people.
Motorway police said that the travelers of the Motorway had been asked to use fog lights and slow the speed due to dense fog in inner Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Motorway police have also requested the people to stay home and avoid unnecessary travelling.
The foggy weather also disrupted flights and train operations.
