Police arrest two bike lifters with eight stolen motorcycles
RAWALPINDI, Jan 02 (APP):Police have arrested two bike lifters and recovered eight stolen motorcycles from their possession, said a Police spokesman here on Tuesday.
He informed that a team under the supervision of SHO, Rawat Police Station managed to net two bike lifters namely Naeem and Nazam and recovered eight stolen motorcycles and other items from their possession. He said that the accused, Naeem is a record holder.
A case has been registered against the accused while further investigation is underway.
Superintendent of Police, Saddar said the accomplices and facilitators of the accused would also be sent behind bars.
He said that on the directives of City Police Officer, Rawalpindi, the operation against the bike and car lifters had been accelerated.
BISEP notifies SSC Annual-I examination from March 14
PESHAWAR, Jan 02 (APP): Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Peshawar (BISEP) on Tuesday notified that the Secondary School certificate (annual-I) examination, 2024 would start on March 14.
A notification issued here said that the regular and private students can submit their normal fee upto January 22, later admission fee until January 31, double admission fee up to February 07 and triple admission fee upto February 15 in any branch of Allied Bank, Muslim Commercial Bank and Easy Paisa through online system generated receipt.
It further informed that the normal admission fee for 9th class is Rs 2200, late admission fee Rs 2700, double late fee Rs 3200 and triple admission fee Rs 4200.
Similarly, the normal admission fee for 10th class is Rs 2600, late admission fee Rs 3100, double late fee Rs 3600 and triple admission fee Rs 4600.
The board notified Rs 2700 normal admission fee for improvement of marks for both 9th and 10th classes, while the late admission fee is Rs 3200, the double late fee Rs 3700 and the triple admission fee Rs 4700.
In case of improvement Rs 500 and for additional subjects, Rs 500 shall be deposited at the time of receipt of original certificate, it said adding that private students shall submit their admission forms online through www.bisep.edu.pk.

ECP enforces conduct rules, removes candidates’ ads above prescribed limits
ISLAMABAD, Jan 2 (APP):The Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) monitoring teams have started removing the illegal advertisement hoardings of the candidates aspiring to participate in the elections of National and Provincial assemblies.
Monitoring teams deployed nationwide are currently removing advertisement hoardings that exceed prescribed limits, stated an official of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
According to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), the monitoring teams in Multan and Sialkot are removing promotional materials of candidates who have erected advertisement hoardings in contravention of the code of conduct.
In accordance with the Election Commission of Pakistan’s Code of Conduct issued on December 20, 2023, individuals and political parties are prohibited from affixing or distributing posters, handbills, pamphlets, leaflets, banners, or portraits larger than the specified sizes outlined by the ECP.
The specified dimensions are as follows: posters should measure 18 inches by 23 inches, pamphlets, leaflets, and handbills can have a maximum size of 9 by 6 inches, banners should not exceed 3 by 9 feet, and portraits should be limited to 2 by 3 feet.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has also established the Election Monitoring and Control Center (EMCC) at provincial and district levels for swift complaint resolution.
Operating round the clock until polling day concludes on February 8 and results are finalized, the center employs social media and electronic media monitoring.
Complaints can be sent through fax or email, and promptly addressed by trained personnel. The control room stays in touch with relevant Returning Officers (ROs) and District Returning Officers (DROs), urging individuals to use the helpline via complaints@ecp.gov.pk or WhatsApp at 0327-5050610. Another helpline at 111-327-000 operates from 8 am to 6 pm for complainants’ convenience.

During the meeting, the prime minister inquired after well being of the veteran politician.
The two leaders also discussed the overall situation of the country.

Pakistan’s exports to China increase by 39.44% in 5 months
ISLAMABAD, Jan 2 (APP):Pakistan’s export of goods and services to China witnessed an increase of 39.44 per cent during the first five months of the current fiscal year (2023-24) as compared to the exports of the corresponding period of last year, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) reported.
The overall exports to China were recorded at US $1223.532 million during July-November (2023-24) against exports of US $877.444 million during July-November (2022-23), SBP data revealed.
On a year-to-year basis, the exports to China also surged by 36.29 per cent from $199.058 million in November 2022, against the exports of $271.316 million in November 2023.
Meanwhile, on a month-on-month basis, the exports to China decreased by 14.90 per cent during November 2023 as compared to the exports of $318.842 million in October 2023, the SBP data revealed.
Overall Pakistan’s exports to other countries witnessed an increase of 4.99 per cent in the first five months, from US $11.915 billion to US $12.510 billion, the SBP data revealed.
On the other hand, the imports from China into the country during the months under review were recorded at US $4741.099 million against US $5045.390 million last year, showing a decline of 6.03 per cent in July-November (2023-24).
On a year-on-year basis, the imports for China witnessed an increase of 10.71 per cent from US $906.128 million in November 2022, against the imports of US $1003.248 million in November 2023.
On a month-on-month basis, the imports from China into the country witnessed a nominal increase of 0.99 per cent during November 2023, as compared to the imports of US $993.401 million during November 2023, according to the data.
The overall imports into the country witnessed a decrease of 16.02 per cent, from $25.341 billion to US $21.281 billion, according to the data.
