APCEA holds interactive session on 'Pakistan from the Eyes of Geologists'

ISLAMABAD, Jul 11 (APP): The All-Pakistan Chinese Enterprises’ Association (APCEA) with the mutual collaboration of the China-Pakistan Joint Research Center on Earth Sciences (CPJRC) and China SCO Geosciences Cooperation Research Center’s (CSGC) co-organized a conference-cum-interactive session, simultaneously held at APCEA’s Islamabad office and Xi An.

The subject of the event was “Pakistan from the Eyes of Geologists” which is the title of the latest joint publication of CPJRC and CSGC.

The book elucidates the potential of Pakistan in the sector of Geology via the technical expertise as well as the perspectives of Chinese and Pakistani geology professionals, said a press release issued here.

The participants deliberated upon the knowledge addition made by this novel publication in the existing literature on the geological importance and relevant capacities of Pakistan. They also expressed the resolve of exploring and thriving this sector to its fullest under the guidance and care of the concerned Pakistani and Chinese authorities. The productive discussion session concluded with a ceremonial distribution of the said publication among the participants.

PMD forecast more monsoon rains from July 13-17 with occasional gaps

ISLAMABAD, Jul 11 (APP):Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Tuesday forecast more monsoon rains in different parts of the country from July 13-17 with occasional gaps.

The monsoon currents from Arabian sea are likely to penetrate in upper and central parts of the country from July 12 (evening) which are likely to intensify on July 14.

A westerly wave was expected to enter upper parts on July 14 (evening/night).

Under the influence of these weather systems, rain/wind-thundershower with few heavy falls is expected in Kashmir, (Neelum valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur), Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Kasur and Okara from July 12-17 with occasional gaps.

Rain/wind-thundershower with few heavy falls is expected in Gilgit Baltistan (Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, Shigar), Chitral, Swat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Kurram, Lakki Marwat, Kohat, Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Karak, Waziristan, Mianwali, Khushab, Sargodha, Hafizabad, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Jhang and Toba Tek Singh from July 13 (evening/night) to July 17 with occasional gaps.

Rain/wind-thundershower is also expected in Barkhan, Loralai, Kalat, Khuzdar, Zhob, Lasbela, Awaran, Musakhel, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Multan, Bhakkar, Layyah, Kot Addu, Sukkur, Jacobabad, Nagarparkar, Tharparkar, Umerkot, Sanghar, Mirpur Khas from July 14 (evening/night) to July 16.

About the impacts, the PMD said that heavy rain might cause urban flooding in low lying areas of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Gujranwala, Lahore from July 14-17 and trigger landslides in the vulnerable areas of Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan and hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the period.

The farmers are advised to manage their activities keeping in view the weather forecast.

Tourists and travelers are advised to remain extra cautious to avoid any untoward situation during the wet spell.

Dust storm/wind-thunderstorm may damage loose structures like electric poles, solar panels.
The general public is advised to stay at safe places during wind-storm/heavy rains.

All concerned authorities are advised to remain alert and to take necessary precautionary measures during the forecast period,

ISLAMABAD, Jul 11 (APP):The speakers on Tuesday thanked the government for organizing the international Gandhara Tourism Symposium 2023 which would attract foreign tourists at large and promote religious tourism.

Speaking at the Gandhara Symposium 2023 held here, Chief Abbot of Buddha Bihara, Nepal Bhikshu Kondanya said after this symposium Pakistan would be a new attraction for tourists and the government deserved appreciation in this regard.

Kondanya said, “I am so happy that Pakistani government is working to promote religious tourism that will also help the country in generating revenue.”

He further said that Pakistan is an important country in South Asia, rich in cultural heritage, and the center of Indus and Gandhara civilizations.

The Symposium was also showcasing the Gandhara civilization and tourism, he added.
Chief Abbes of Fo Guang Shan, Malaysia Jue Cheng said that Pakistan’s architectural beauty is attracting tourism across the world.

He said that Pakistan is a safe country and urged international tourists to come here and visit its beautiful recreational and heritage sites.

He apprised the participants that Buddhism is a religion that loves, cares and respects humanity, adding that the friendship between Islam and Buddhism is thousands of years old.

Jue Cheng said that the Gandhara civilization is the pride of Pakistan.

Honorary Rector, of World Buddhist University Thailand Anil Sakya said, “I am so happy that a Muslim country namely the Islamic Republic of Pakistan is hosting the international Gandhara symposium.”

The religion of Buddhism is giving the message of peace, tolerance, and interfaith harmony, he added.

He concluded that Pakistan is a peaceful and safe country for foreigners and invited world tourists to visit the beautiful country.
