ISLAMABAD, Jun 26 (APP):The Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) has resumed cash disbursement to the beneficiaries of the Benazir Kafaalat from Monday which was earlier suspended for two days due to extreme heat wave conditions.
According to the Spokesman, the cash disbursement process will continue from June 26 to June 28. These cash disbursement will remain closed during the Eid-ul-Azha holidays and again resume from July 03.
These cash disbursement of Rs. 9000/- each to nine million families is continued across the country. The mothers of the children registered under Benazir Education Stipends are also being paid the education stipend amount.
Since June 19, an amount of about Rs. 26 billion has been disbursed to more than 2934000 households.
Under the instructions of Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, Shazia Marri, the monitoring teams are also working to ensure transparent payment of these stipends.
The beneficiaries can report immediately to BISP’s toll-free helpline 26477-0800 in case of complaint. All messages from BISP are sent exclusively from 8171.
ISLAMABAD, Jun 26 (APP):Water inflow in all major rivers has significantly increased due to shooting up of mercury and torrential rains as on Monday it stood at 505,800 cusecs against outflow of 310,400 cusces.
According to Indus River System Authority (IRSA), water inflow in the River Indus at Tarbela has increased to 269,000 cusecs against outflow of 135,900 cusecs.The water level in River Indus at Tarbela Dam was 1481.22 feet and was 83.22 feet higher than its dead level of 1,398 feet. Water inflow and outflow in the dam was recorded as 269,000 cusecs and 135,900 cusecs respectively.
The water inflow in River Jhelum at Mangla dam has surged to 72,300 cusecs against outflow of 10,000 cusecs.The water level in River Jhelum at Mangla Dam was 1166.70 feet, which was 116.70 feet higher than its dead level of 1,050 feet.
Similarly, water inflow in River Kabul at Nowshera has jumped to 74,300 cusecs and in River Chenab at Marala, it was recorded as 65,800 cusecs.
The water inflow at Kalabagh, Taunsa , Guddu and Sukkur was recorded as 190,300, 186,700, 115,200 and 76,500 cusecs respectively.

MELBOURNE (Australia), June 26 (APP): The largest-ever Victoria-Pakistan Friendship Group, set up at Australia’s 60th Parliament of Victoria, will help strengthen cooperation between the two countries, Pakistan’s High Commissioner Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri said Monday.
Speaking to the members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group, the Pakistani diplomat said the participation of a large number of members of the Australian Parliament including Ministers and Shadow Ministers in the Group was a testament to further strengthening of friendly relations between Pakistan and Australia.
The High Commissioner underscored that the presence of over 25,000 strong Pakistani diaspora acted as a “strong bridge between Pakistan and the State of Victoria”.
He lauded the efforts of Consul General Moazzam Ali Shah and Honorary Trade and Investment Counsellor Adam Sadiqzai for their efforts towards establishing the Parliamentary Friendship Group.
The cross-party Friendship Group comprises 34 members from both Houses of Parliament: The Legislative Assembly and The Legislative Council.
The Parliamentary Friendship Group is co-convened by Jordan Crugnale, MP from the Australian Labour Party and Sam Groth, MP, Shadow Minister for Tourism, Sports and Events, and Shadow Minister for Youth from the Liberal Party of Australia.
The other Honourable members of the Group inter alia include Wendy Lovell, MP, Deputy President of the Legislative Council; Matt Fregon, MP, Deputy Speaker of Legislative Assembly; Anthony Carbines, MP, Minister for Police, Crime Prevention, Racing; Natalie Suleyman, MP, Minister for Veterans, Minister for Youth, Minister for Small Business; Mary Anne Thomas, MP, Minister for Health; Lily D’ Ambrosio, MP, Minister for Climate Action, Energy and Resources; Colin Brooks, MP, Minister for Housing and Multicultural Affairs; and Stephen McGhie, MP, Cabinet Secretary.
The cooperation between Pakistan and the State of Victoria continues to grow in multiple areas including trade, education, agriculture, and sports. Given the importance that Pakistan attaches to its relations with the State of Victoria, it has opened a Consulate General in Melbourne and appointed an Honorary Trade and Investment Counsellor for Victoria.
It may be recalled that last year largest ever Australia-Pakistan Friendship Group was established in the 47th Parliament of Australia after the General Elections held in May 2022.
PESHAWAR, Jun 26 (APP):The provincial health department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday called for more pragmatic measures to control the spread of dengue fever in the province as at-least 40 cases were reported within a week from across the province.
A comparative report of dengue fever cases issued here by the department revealed that 13 cases were reported from Mardan, 11 Peshawar, five Bajaur, three Chitral, two each from DI Khan and Swabi and one each from Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Khyber and Kohat districts.
It said that the health department in collaboration with the district administrations and other line departments kept the dengue cases under control this year as compare to the last year, adding that last year no case of dengue was reported during the first two months of 2022 and only three cases were registered in March while in 2023 eight cases were registered in January, two in February and three in March.
Similarly 14 cases were reported in April, 52 in May and 40 in June 2022 but during the corresponding period of 2023 four cases were registered in April 12 in May and 40 in June.
It advised all the district administrations and local communities to adopt preventive measures during rainy season to curb the spread of dengue.
MAKKAH, June 26 (APP) ::Minister of Media, Salman bin Yousef Al-Dosari has visited Press Operation Room of this year’s Hajj season 2023 which is overseen by the Ministry with participation of 50 government agencies. The Operation Room is working round the clock to facilitate media persons/reporters, covering annual pilgrimage.
On the occasion, Al-Dosari was briefed on services and work mechanisms of the Room and also checked on work progress at Virtual Press Center (VPC) which provides media services including videos and images to more than 1100 local and international reporters covering this year’s Hajj season.
Since its launch, the VPC has made more than 1500 press materials available to journalists and will also be airing Hajj press conferences in five languages for three days starting on Monday.
The minister has also paid a visit to Press Operation Room of Saudi Press Agency (SPA) through which supervision and coordination are maintained with field reporters at the Holy sites. The room is one of four other media centers established by SPA at the holy sites of Mina, Arafat, and Al-Awali that also support international news agencies. The Minister was also briefed on SPA and Associated Press of Pakistan (APP)’s collaborative efforts in order expand Hajj coverage.
He also met with the media liaison officers of several government agencies participating in covering the Hajj season with whom he discussed ways to enhance cooperation and joint press work.
The minister also paid a visit to the headquarters of the General Commission For Audiovisual Media, where he was briefed on services and facilities it provides to local and international reporters covering the Hajj rituals. He also checked on the work at the headquarters of the Ministry of Media at Arafat and the technologies it uses in covering annual pilgrimage.
He then paid a visit to the studios of the Saudi Broadcasting Authority at Jamaraat Bridge and was briefed on technologies used in the coverage of Hajj rituals.
He visited the media center of SPA at Arafat which is equipped with all necessary preparations to facilitate work of journalists and international media partners at the site.
Later, Al-Dosari visited Ministry’s Headquarters at Mina site and checked on its preparedness and services. He also toured media center allocated for international journalists inside headquarters of the Ministry where he met with several journalists covering the pilgrimage.
Minister Al-Dosari thanked all employees of the Ministry and affiliated authorities who participate in covering the Hajj season, stressing importance of exerting more efforts to highlight the Kingdom’s efforts and keenness of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and HRH Crown Prince to serve pilgrims and facilitate Hajj journey.
SARGODHA, Jun 26 (APP):Light to moderate intensity rain lashed different parts of the city on Monday morning.
According to local MET press release,the rain occurred after the westerly wave entered in the region on Sunday and was likely to persist till June 30 (Friday).
The rain started as a drizzle around 5:00 am, turned into light to moderate intensity and continued for a short time.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) earlier forecast wind-dust/thunderstorm-rain in Sargodha region during this week with occasional gaps while temperatures are likely to remain normal to below normal.
RAWALPINDI, Jun 26 (APP): Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Rawalpindi was put on high alert to cope with urban flooding following heavy rain on Sunday night, said Managing Director (MD) of WASA.
He informed that Rawalpindi and Islamabad received heavy rain on Sunday night, and all arrangements were finalized by the agency to deal with the flash flood.
He said that according to rainfall gauging stations, 47 mm of rain was recorded at Saidpur Village, 55mm at Golra, 58mm at Bokra, 52mm at PMD, 52mm at Shamsabad, 62mm at Chaklala while water level sensor data showed 10 feet at Kattarian and 9.5 ft at Gawalmandi and pre-alert for Gawalmandi area was issued at 4.18 am.
WASA personnel were deployed in different city areas along with heavy machinery, the MD said adding, WASA staff was present at Liaquat Bagh, Committee Chowk, Waris Khan Sadiqabad and along Nullah Lai.
The water level in Nallah Lai was being monitored regularly, he said and informed that the water level had come down to 5 ft at Kattarian and 4 ft at Gawalmandi at 7.55 am on Monday.
