Gold rates up by Rs.400 to Rs.227,300 per tola

ISLAMABAD, Mar 19 (APP): The per tola price of 24 karat gold witnessed an increase of Rs.400 and was sold at Rs.227,300 on Tuesday compared to its sale at Rs. 226,900 on last trading day.

The price of 10 grams of 24 karat gold also increased by Rs.343 to Rs.194,873 from Rs194,530 whereas the price of 10 gram 22 karat gold went up to Rs.178,634 from Rs. 178,319, the All Sindh Sarafa Jewellers Association reported.

The price of per tola and ten gram silver remained constant at Rs.2,580 and Rs.2,211.93 respectively

The price of gold in the international market increased by $3 to $2,173 from $.2,170, the Association reported.

Spoiled meat seized, fines imposed

PESHAWAR, Mar 19 (APP):The Food Safety and Halal Food Authority conducted raids in Peshawar and Swat on Tuesday, confiscating spoiled meat, expired chicken, and imposing fines on the owners.
The spokesperson of the Food Safety Authority stated that the team raided GT Road in Peshawar, seizing nearly three hundred kilograms of spoiled meat and expired chicken.
The owner was heavily fined for disposing of hazardous chicken. Similarly, the Food Safety team raided a secret warehouse and shop in Swat, confiscating adulterated meat from the warehouse and imposing fines exceeding one lakh rupees on the owners.
Director-General of the Food Safety Authority, Shafiullah Khan, emphasized that there will be no leniency for the adulteration mafia, and the crackdown will continue.

PM meets javelin athlete Arshad Nadeem; praises his achievements

ISLAMABAD, March 19 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday praised Pakistan’s ace javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem for achieving a historic feat of winning a silver medal in the World Athletics Championship 2023.

During a meeting with Arshad Nadeem, the world famed javelin throwing athlete, the prime minister praised his efforts to clinch the silver medal despite scant resources.

His achievement made the nation proud, he added.

The prime minister announced an award worth Rs2.5 million for Arshad Nadeem.

The meeting was attended by Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Minister of State for IT and Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Romeena Khurshid Alam MNA and Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, a member of Punjab Assembly.

The prime minister said that there was immense talent in the country in sports which required to be groomed.

He also underlined the need of focusing on promotion of sports in the rural areas.

Arshad Nadeem apprised the prime minister of his sports career and achievements.

He said that he started his career during 2012 and participated in the Youth festival afterwards, he participated in different world events in various categories and represented Pakistan.

He termed his meeting with the prime minister as very constructive and highlighted various measures to promote sports in the country.

Six power pilferers booked

caught six power pilferers during an ongoing crackdown launched
here on Tuesday.
According to FESCO press release, the task force team raided
at various areas of the district and caught 06 accused involved
in electricity theft from main lines and meter tampering.
The task force team also imposed a fine of Rs 425,775 on pilferers.
On a report of FESCO, police have registered cases against the accused.

Iranian Consul General calls on CM Punjab

Rupee remains flat against dollar

ISLAMABAD, Mar 19 (APP): The Rupee on Tuesday remained unchanged against the US Dollar in the interbank trading and closed at Rs278.63

However, according to the Forex Association of Pakistan (FAP), the buying and selling rates of the dollar in the open market stood at Rs278.6 and Rs281.2, respectively.

The price of the Euro decreased by Rs1.26 to close at Rs302.35 against the last day’s closing of Rs303.51, according to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

The Japanese Yen came down by 01 paisa and closed at Rs1.85, whereas a decrease of Rs1.22 was witnessed in the exchange rate of the British Pound, which was traded at Rs353.78 compared to the last closing of Rs355.00.

The Emirates Dirham and the Saudi Riyal remained stagnant to close at Rs75.87 and Rs74.29.

Rescue 1122 arranges life support training for police

SWABI, Mar 19 (APP)::Emergency Rescue Service 1122 on Tuesday arranged one-day first aid and lifesaving training workshop for personnel of Swabi Police.
A team of Rescue 1122 informed police about basic lifesaving and life support procedures. The police force was also given training to manage choking hazardous and fracture management.
Deputy Superintendent Headquarters, Muhammad Iqbal appreciated management of Rescue 1122 for the training and said that it would enable police force to effectively manage situations during emergencies.

PSX stays bullish, gains 612 points

ISLAMABAD, Mar 19 (APP):The 100-index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) continued with bullish trend on Tuesday, gaining 612.09 points, a positive change of 0.94 percent, closing at 65,502.60 points against 64,890.51 points the previous trading day.

A total of 323,281,871 shares valuing Rs.17.059 billion were traded during the day as compared to 211,758,341 shares valuing Rs. 7.785 billion the last day.

Some 341 companies transacted their shares in the stock market; 184 of them recorded gains and 140 sustained losses, whereas the share prices of 17 remained unchanged.

The three top trading companies were WorldCall Telecom with 27,822,745 shares at Rs.1.38 per share, Telecard Limited with 20,828,617 shares with 9.23 per share and Bank of Punjab with 17,912,724 shares at Rs.6.14 per share.

Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited witnessed a maximum increase of Rs.200.00 per share price, closing at Rs.21,700.00, whereas the runner-up was Pakistan Tobacco Company Limited with a Rs.67.20 rise in its per share price to Rs.1,059.20.

Sapphire Fibres Limited witnessed a maximum decrease of Rs.91.67 per share closing at Rs.1,415.00, followed by Nestle Pakistan Limited with Rs.80.00 decline to close at Rs.7,420.00.

 

Ambassador Hashmi visits Center for Pakistan Studies at Peking University, Beijing

BEIJING, Mar 19 (APP): Pakistan Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi visited Peking University here on Tuesday and held a meeting with President of Peking University, Gong Qihuang.

Ambassador Hashmi paid tribute to the Peking University for its role as an outstanding seat of learning and its rich contribution to the deepening of Pakistan-China relations.

He appreciated the university for hosting Pakistan Studies Center and offering Urdu language courses.
Ambassador Hashmi thanked the President for his continued support to Pakistani students and Center for Pakistan Studies in the university.

He underscored the need for initiating students and faculty exchanges and the revival of Pakistan Chair at Peking.
Welcoming the Ambassador, the President of Peking University appreciated the close bond of friendship between the two countries.

He added that Peking University through its Urdu Language Program and Center for Pakistan Studies had an old relationship with Pakistan.

He invited the Ambassador to participate in the Beijing Forum 2024 that was scheduled to be held in November this year.

He also agreed to Ambassador’s proposal on exchange programs noting that such initiatives would strengthen the brotherly ties between China and Pakistan.
Later, the Ambassador visited the School of Foreign Languages and Center for Pakistan Studies.

During the visit, he appreciated the role played by the school in the promotion of Urdu language in China. He also discussed the avenues for further enhancing the footprint of Pakistan study Centers in China.

Ambassador Hashmi also interacted with the students and faculty members of Urdu language at the school.

Federal Board announces implementation of national curriculum from academic year 2024

ISLAMABAD, Mar 19 (APP): Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) has announced that National Curriculum of Pakistan 2022-23 notified by Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training, Government of Pakistan stands implemented with effect from Academic year 2024 and onwards.

According to a notification available with APP, Federal Board has informed all the heads of institutions affiliated with FBISE at SSC and HSSC levels, that the National Curriculum will be implemented for grades IX and XI in the subjects of English Compulsory, Urdu Compulsory, Pakistan Studies, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Computer Science while for grades X and XII the same shall stand implemented with effect from Academic year 2025 and onwards for these subjects.

The National Curriculum of ‘Pakistan Studies’ 2022-23 stands implemented for grade IX with effect from Academic year 2024 while for grades X and XII the same shall stand implemented with effect from Academic Year 2025 and onwards.

The National Curriculum of Islamiyat Compulsory 2022-23 has already been implemented at SSC level while at HSSC-I Level, the decision will be taken shortly subject to the availability of valid and reliable books/reading material.

The notification further said that both SSC and HSSC Levels Examinations of all the subjects mentioned above will continue to be Students Learning Outcomes (SLOs) based instead of Textbooks based. Accordingly Question Papers will be based on the SLOS given in the curricula of each of these subjects instead of textbooks. All the curricula/SLOs of these subjects will be uploaded shortly on FBISE website www.fbise.edu.pk for instructional/assessment guidelines along with Model Question Papers and other necessary allied material.

A suggested list of books of different publishers as reference/reading material which is not prescriptive in nature is being given here under for each subject along with other details.

The institutions are, however, free to rely on any other valid and reliable instructional/reference material to fulfill the instructional requirements of the SLOS of these subjects.

However, institutions may further shape their instructional and assessment practices around the SLOS and teaching resources/reference material of these subjects for preparing their students.

The exploration of SLOS particularly in the context of their cognitive domains and pedagogical requirements will help students to discover new abilities, develop critical thinking and enrich their problem solving skills together with developing curiosity and lasting passion for learning.

As per federal board details, the names of publishers of text/reference books for SSC-I, HSSC-I subject and curriculum, the books of SSC-I and HSSC-I English Compulsory 2022-23 will be published by National Book Foundation, Islamabad and Cantab Publisher, Lahore.

Similarly, in Urdu Compulsory 2022-23 SSC-I and HSSC-I books will be published by National Book Foundation, Islamabad and Kitabistan Paper Products, Lahore, and Cantab Publisher, Lahore.

Meanwhile, the book of SSC-I Pak Studies 2022-23, will be published by Gohar Publisher, Lahore, Cantab Publisher (English & Urdu Version), Lahore and Kitabistan Paper Products, Lahore.

The book of Islamiyat Compulsory 2022-23 SSC-I will be published by National Book Foundation, Islamabad
and Punjab Textbook Board, Lahore, while the decision is pending for publishing of HSSC-I book.

The books of Physics 2022-23 SSC-I and HSSC-I will be published by National Book Foundation, Islamabad,
and Cantab publisher Lahore. However, the book of Chemistry 2022-23 SSC-I will be published by National Book Foundation, Islamabad and Cantab Publisher, Lahore, while HSSC-I book of same subject will be published by National Book Foundation, Islamabad, Cantab Publisher, Lahore and New College Publications, Quetta.

The book of Biology 2022-23 SSC-I will be published by National Book Foundation, Islamabad, Cantab Publisher, Lahore, and HSSC-I by the National Book Foundation, Islamabad, Cantab Publisher, Lahore and New College Publications, Quetta.

As per notification, the books of Mathematics 2022-23, SSC-I and HSSC-I will be published by National Book Foundation,
Islamabad, and Cantab Publisher Lahore. The books of Computer Scienc 2022-23 for SSSC-I and HSSC-I will be published by National Book Foundation.
