FIA recovers huge quantity of foreign currency, nabs three accused

On the direction of Deputy Director Afzal Niazi accused Izzatullah was arrested from Torkhum having 51,000  Qatari riyals and 49,000 Saudi riyals.
The arrest of the accused took place as a result of effective coordination between FIA Commercial Banking Circle Peshawar and FIA Immigration Torkhum.
In another operation, an accused Muhammad Mujahid was arrested from Nishtarabad area having 2800 US dollars, 1600 New Zealand dollars and 27,000 Pakistani rupees.
In a third operation, Shafiullah was arrested from Gambit, District Dir having 368000 Pakistani rupees.
The accused could not satisfy the valid reason of holding the recovered currency.
A number of receipts related to Hundi reference were also recovered from them.
FIA registered cases  against the accused under the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act and started investigation.

Two member gang involved in street crime arrested

RAWALPINDI, Aug 26 (APP):Police have arrested two members gang involved in street crimes and also recovered stolen goods from their possession during a crackdown in the jurisdiction of Kalar Syedan here on Saturday.
Police have also recovered weapons used in the crimes.
According to a police spokesman, Kalar Syedan Police held a two-member gang involved in street crime who were identified as Hanif and Taimoor.
The accused have been shifted to jail for an identification parade and more revelations were expected.
SP Saddar Muhammad Nabil Khokar appreciated the performance of the police team and said that the accused who deprive the citizens of their valuables cannot escape from the grip of the law.

Minor boy killed beneath water tank

FAISALABAD, Aug 26 (APP):A minor boy was killed beneath an overturned water tank in the area of Ghulam Muhammad Abad police station.
Rescue 1122 spokesman said here on Saturday that a tractor pulling a water tank met an accident, and the tank turned turtle on a minor boy in Jameel Abad.
As a result, 7-year-old Ibrahim Zulfiqar received serious injuries and died on-the-spot. The body was later on handed over to his relatives for burial, he added.

IGP gives cash awards to 40 instructors

LAHORE, Aug 26 (APP):Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar gave away cash awards and certificates of appreciation to 40 instructors at a ceremony, held at the Central Police Office, here on Saturday.
The instructors and police officers from Police Training College Chung Lahore, Training College Sihala Rawalpindi, Police Training School Farooqabad and Multan participated in the event.
Addressing the instructors, the IGP said the training curriculum of the police force had been upgraded according to modern requirements, similarly the training steps and performance evaluation mechanisms of the force had also  been digitalised.
Additional IG Training Tariq Rustam Chohan, DIG Headquarters Humayun Bashir Tarar, AIG Training Faisal Mukhtar and AIG Discipline Ahsan Saifullah participated in the event.

IGP visits 1787 Complaint Centre

LAHORE, Aug 26 (APP):Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar paid a surprise visit to 1787 Complaint Centre at Central Police Office here on Saturday and checked the grievance redress process.
He listened to complainants and issued orders on the spot. On an application, received from Hafizabad, the DPO was ordered to take immediate action under personal supervision.
The IG Punjab asked all supervisory officers to take immediate action on the complaints sent through 1787 and provide all possible relief to citizens.
He said that the complaints received through call, SMS, e-mail and other sources should be resolved promptly as per the prescribed timeline and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
AIG Complaints Ahmed Mohiuddin briefed the IGP about 1787 dashboard and complaints received from different regions.

Saudi Arabia to teach two Chinese classes weekly in secondary schools

BEIJING, Aug 26 (APP): The education authorities in Saudi Arabia have reportedly instructed all public and private secondary schools to teach two Chinese language classes each week.
Experts said that it will have “significant implications” in providing students with opportunities to learn Chinese and experience diverse culture. It also shows the two countries’ increasing communication and cooperation in the field of education.

The fourth period of every Sunday and Monday shall be assigned for teaching Chinese, the Saudi Gazette reported.

This is “positive” news for Chinese language education developing in Saudi Arabia, as the schools have welcomed more than 7 million students in the new semester, Chen Ming, a professor who teaches Chinese at King Saud University, told the Global Times.

More than 7 million students across Saudi Arabia returned to schools and universities on August 20, the first day of the new academic year, according to media reports.

The teaching plan has “significant implications” and is also another “major initiative” since Saudi Arabia agreed to include the Chinese language in the curriculum for Saudi schools and universities in 2019, Li Bowen, Chinese language teacher at the King Abdulaziz University and deputy director of the Chinese Proficiency Test Center in Riyadh, told the Global Times.

In 2019, the two countries agreed to include the Chinese language in the curriculum at all stages of education in schools and universities in Saudi Arabia, a move to enhance the students’ cultural diversity.

PM directs NHA to restore Pinjra bridge in Balochistan

ISLAMABAD, Aug 26 (APP): Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar Saturday directed the National Highway Authority (NHA) to complete the reconstruction of the Pinjra bridge as soon as possible so that citizens travelling from Quetta to Jacobabad could be facilitated.

In a post on his X handle, he said work on the reconstruction of the Pinjra bridge was continuing at a fast pace.

In another positive development, he said an alternative concrete bridge was completed from which heavy traffic was passing.

DC, CPO visit flood-hit areas

MULTAN, Aug 26 (APP):Deputy Commissioner (DC) Omer Jahangir and City Police Officer (CPO) Mansoor-ul-Haq Rana visited flood-hit areas to review relief activities here on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, the deputy commissioner said that district administration would ensure all possible relief to the people of flood hit areas. He said that different flood relief camps have been set up in the area where free medicines and other facilities were being provided to masses. He directed officers concerned to shift people of the areas expected to be affected by flood at safe places.
The CPO said that police and district administration shifting people to safe places adding that all possible resources were being utilized to protect lives and properties of the masses. He directed SP Sadar division to monitor all relief activities and remain in field to facilitate people.
SP Sadar Division Sham Uddin, DSP Jalalpur Pirwala Bashir Ahmed Hiraj and other concerned officers were also present on the occasion.

Massive Sweep: Over 300 drug dealers apprehended in Vehari

VEHARI, Aug 26 (APP):The District Police Officer (DPO) Esa Khan Sukhira announced a significant achievement in the fight against drugs as local police claimed to have arrested over 300 drug dealers during the last three months.
While talking to journalists, he informed that police also confiscated a staggering 528 kg of illegal substances worth millions of rupees from these criminals. The seized items include a substantial quantity of hashish, totaling more than 32 kg, along with 40 kg of opium and 34 kg of cannabis.
Additionally, the police successfully seized more than 20,000 liters of alcohol from 386 liquor vendors during the operation. Following the crackdown on drug dealers, the police have taken steps to rehabilitate drug addicts in the next phase of their efforts.
Under the “Journey from Addiction to Recovery and Employment” pilot project initiated in Sahuka, drug addicts found in various areas of Vehari district were transported to a rehabilitation center. The process was carried out in a dignified manner, and the individuals were provided with employment opportunities as part of their rehabilitation. The rehabilitation center, located at RHC Luddan already received 41 drug addicts. These individuals underwent grooming and health screening before receiving comprehensive treatment.
Furthermore, the rehabilitation center has also extended its support to individuals with HIV infections, offering them the necessary medical care.
He expressed his pride in providing not only decent accommodation but also meals, treatment, and grooming to these marginalized members of society. The Vehari Police, in collaboration with the District Administration, Social Welfare Department, and Private NGOs, is determined to transform these drug addicts into productive and respected citizens of society.
