AJK PM urges world to take stringent notice of Indian atrocities  in IIOJK

MIRPU,R (AJK), Aug 29 (APP):Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister  Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq on Tuesday emphasized upon the international human rights organizations to take stringent notice of the atrocities committed by the Indian occupational forces on civilians in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu &  Kashmir (IIOJK).
In a statement, the PM, while voicing his grave concern over the fast-deteriorating political and human rights situation in the Indian-occupied territory of Jammu and Kashmir, said that Indian forces have crossed all limits of barbarism and savagery in Kashmir.
The Indian government, he said, had trampled the Kashmiris’ fundamental human rights of Kashmiris under the jackboots. He, however, maintained that despite its policy of oppression and suppression, India could not break the Kashmiris’ spirit and their political will to achieve their cherished goal of freedom.
While urging the international community to come up with a solid plan of action to stop the bloodshed of innocent civilians at the hands of the Indian occupation forces, the PM said it was high time that the global community should influence the government of India to fulfill the promises and commitments its leaders have made vis a vis the settlement of the Kashmir dispute at the international level.
He said that it was the Prime Minister of India who took the issue of Kashmir to the United Nations. He said that it was quite unfortunate that India has not only backtracked from its commitments but also violated the UNSC resolutions that call for holding a referendum in Kashmir.He said that Kashmiris have associated their future with Pakistan.He said that accession to Pakistan was the Kashmiris’ ultimate objective, for which they have been struggling at all levels with absolute determination and dedication.
The PM hailed the supreme sacrifices rendered by the Kashmiri people during the ongoing struggle for the right to self-determination. He expressed optimism that the sacrifices rendered by the people of Kashmir would soon come to fruition.

HESCO Chief hopes upgraded Nooriabad grid station to improve power supply

HYDERABAD, Aug 29 (APP):Chief Executive Officer of Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) Muzaffar Ali Abassi inaugurated a 40 MVA transformer installed at Nooriabad Grid Station in the industrial zone in Jamshoro on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion Abassi congratulated the technical teams for accomplishing the task of installation of the transformer, acquired at the cost of Rs 225 million, in three days.
He expressed hope that the new transformer would ensure an uninterrupted supply of electricity to industrial consumers.
The CEO visited different parts of the grid station.
Later, he went to the office of the Kotri Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) to attend a reception arranged in his honour.
During the visit, the representatives of the association discussed the electric supply and billing-related problems with the CEO.

CM Domki thanks Caretaker PM for efforts on Pinjra Bridge

The Chief Minister said that the commencement of the construction of Pinjra Bridge, which has been stalled for a long time was an important development and great news for the people of the area.
He said that for which, we thanked Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul Haq Kakar, whose interest made this possible.
He hoped that the National Highway Authority (NHA) would complete the project soon

Pak Javelin maestro Arshad Nadeem thankful to coaches for silver medal

KHANEWAL, Aug 29 (APP):Pakistan’s javelin maestro Arshad Nadeem said that ceaseless companionship with coaches in hard training sessions and prayers of the whole nation and his parents won him a silver medal in the world athletics championship.
The country’s top javelin athlete expressed these views Tuesday after he called on deputy commissioner Waseem Hamid Sindhu at his office where was accorded a warm reception.
DC and DPO Rana Omar Farooq received the national hero, decorated him with flower garlands, and presented a bouquet to him.
DC and DPO appreciated Arshad Nadeem for bringing honor to the country and pledged to work harder for the promotion of sports in the Khanewal district in the light of guidance from the national javelin hero.
Arshad Nadeem expressed commitment to continue to work harder to bring more laurels to Pakistan at international fixtures.

IHC instructs PTI chief’s lawyer to remove objections on bail petitions

ISLAMABAD, Aug 29 (APP):The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday instructed the lawyer of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman to remove objections of the Registrar Office on appeals against cancellation of interim bails of former prime minister in six cases pertaining to the incidents of May 6.
Chief Justice Aamer Farooq, hearing the case, remarked that the court would issue an appropriate orders in the case. The interim bails of the PTI chief had been cancelled due to non-pursuance.
At the outset of hearing, the PTI chairman’s lawyer Barrister Salman Safdar said the sessions court had not viewed the merits while terminating the interim bails of his client. It could have summoned his client, who was imprisoned in the jail, he added.
The lawyer said that there was a risk of the arrest of former prime minister after being released in the Toshakhana case.
The chief justice observed that the Registrar Office had raised the question that whether the same petitions for interim bails would be heard or new ones would be filed.
The lawyer responded that the interim bail petitions should be considered as pending.
The court, however, ordered the lawyer to remove the objections of Registrar Office on the petitions.
The chief justice also observed that the matter pertaining to the maintainability of the cases would be viewed at the judicial side.

Baloch reviews rehabilitation of roads, bridges affected by floods in Balochistan

QUETTA, Aug 29 (APP): On special directive of Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan Anwaar-ul Haq Kakar, the Provincial Secretary, Communications and Works (C&W), Ali Akbar Baloch chaired meeting regarding measures to protect the infrastructure due to rains and floods in the province and to make the flash flood water management effective.
The meeting was attended by National Highway Authority (NHA) officials, Special Secretary Irrigation Department Nadeem Sumalani and senior officials of C&W Department.
  In the meeting, issues related to channelization and effective utilization of flood water by NHA and effective communication with provincial government to protect road infrastructure from floods were reviewed.
  The meeting was also given a detailed briefing on the current condition of the roads and bridges affected by the recent rains and floods in the province and the progress regarding the rehabilitation.
  Addressing the meeting, Secretary Communications and Works Department Ali Akbar Baloch said that due to the recent rains and floods, all the important highways and bridges of the province have been damaged.
Due to which the connection of the province with the rest of the provinces was cut off and the economic conditions of the province and the supply of other food items also faced difficulties after damaging communication system in the area, he said.
He said that the Department of C &W along with NHA started the maintenance of highways and bridges on a timely and emergency basis.
  The Secretary said that there was still a need for complete rehabilitation of the important highways of the province, on which the Department of C&W has provided all the details regarding the rehabilitation of these highways to the NHA officials.

BoD meeting of autonomous bodies held

PESHAWAR, Aug 29 (APP):A meeting regarding Boards of Directors (BoDs) of autonomous bodies was held here at Chief Minister’s House on Tuesday with Caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Azam Khan in the Chair.
Legal matters related to the functions of the BoDs were reviewed in the meeting with a special focus on the decisions taken in the 34th board meeting of the Provincial Housing Authority.
Caretaker Provincial Minister for Law, Justice (retired) Arshad Hussain Shah, Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, Secretary Law, Advocate General and other concerned high ups were present.
It was decided in the meeting to review the new policy regarding allotment of plots under Provincial Housing Authority, and the chief minister directed the Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to look into the decisions taken in the 34th Board meeting of PHA regarding the allotment of plots.
It was decided in the meeting that a committee comprising provincial law minister, advocate general and other relevant authorities will look into the decisions of the 34th board meeting of PHA and submit its recommendations to the chief minister.
Addressing the participants, the chief minister said that the caretaker provincial government, within its mandate, will take every possible step for the welfare of citizens.
The government will ensure complete integrity and honesty in all matters of governance, he remarked and said that public welfare will be of foremost importance in all the decisions of the government, and meritocracy and transparency would be ensured in all the matters of governance.

IHC suspends PTI chairman’s imprisonment sentence in Toshakhana case

ISLAMABAD, Aug 29 (APP):The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday suspended the imprisonment sentence of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan in the Toshakhana criminal case and ordered to release him on bail.
The two-judge bench comprising Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, in their eight-page judgment reserved on Monday and issued today, also ordered the former prime minister to submit surety bonds of  Rs 100,000 to avail the bail.
The judgment said,”As the sentence given in the case is of short duration, the court considers that the petitioner is entitled to suspension of sentence and release on bail. The trial court’s sentence of 3 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs100,000 is suspended.”
It further stated that the trial court pronounced the sentence on the complaint of the Election Commission of Pakistan under the Election Act.
The Supreme Court’s Qaim Ali Shah case reference was also included in the written decision. It said that the top court had declared that it was the high court’s discretion to grant or deny bail.
The order also said that by accepting the plea of the accused, the decision of the trial court of August 5 “is suspended and the petitioner should be released on bail on filing a bond worth Rs100,000”.
The IHC said the jurisdiction of the trial court and other issues for consideration were not being determined in the  order. The respondents had given detailed arguments on these issues, but they would be decided in the main appeal.
The court also gave a reference of the order of the Supreme Court in an appeal against the suspension of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s sentence in the Avenfield property case. It said that the top court had expressed its displeasure on issuing lengthy orders in decisions pertaining to the suspension of the sentences.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Humayun Dilawar had announced a three-year jail term along with fine of Rs 100,000 to the former prime minister in the Toshakhana criminal case lodged by the Election Commission of Pakistan.
