Japan hires 32 language teachers from Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Mar 30 (APP): The embassy of Pakistan Tokyo is constantly exploring employment opportunities for Pakistani youth in Japan.

In this context, Borderlink, a Japanese human resort company, has hired 32 Assistant Language Teachers from Pakistan in collaboration with the Embassy of Pakistan Tokyo and Overseas Employment Corporation.

On Saturday, a welcome event for teachers was arranged by the embassy.

Ambassador Raza Bashir Tarar advised the teachers to exhibit exemplary performance to open more doors for Pakistanis.

He also urged them to promote a soft image of our beloved homeland.

PM directs formation of committee on climate change

ISLAMABAD, Mar 30 (APP): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Saturday directed the formation of a committee to identify problems related to climate change and to tackle them.
He was chairing a meeting regarding Ministry of Climate Change.

He was briefed on the progress on the policies and projects related to climate change.
He said climate change was a very important issue, adding Pakistan was among the countries that had least role in climate destruction but was the
most affected by climate change.

He said a comprehensive and effective strategy was needed to counter the effects of climate change.
Climate change was related to agriculture, energy, water, infrastructure and other sectors, he added. Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal, Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Cheema, high level officials of relevant departments and experts of climate change attended the meeting.

18 Senators elected unopposed in upcoming Senate elections

ISLAMABAD, Mar 30 (APP): Eighteen candidates have been elected unopposed as senators out of a total of 147 aspirants who deposited their nomination papers for the 48 vacant Senate seats.

The final list of candidates from Returning Officers shows that out of 18 elected unopposed, seven are from Punjab’s general seats. Similarly, in Balochistan, senators for seven general seats, two women seats, and two Ulema/technocrat seats have won without any opposition.

A spokesperson for the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) announced that preparations have been completed for conducting elections on April 2 to fill 30 vacant seats.

Ballot papers have been printed, and transportation of election materials to returning officers has also been finalized. The elections would be held on 29 General, eight women, nine technocrat/ Ulema and two non-Muslim seats.

The elections are underway for 30 seats, which include one general and one technocrat seat from the federal capital, two women seats, two technocrat/Ulema seats, and one non-Muslim seat from Punjab. Similarly, Sindh will see elections for seven general, two women, two technocrat/Ulema, and one non-Muslim seat. Additionally, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will hold elections for seven general, two women, and two technocrat seat on April 2. In total, 59 candidates are vying for these seats.
