PFA organizes awareness seminar on ‘Food Safety and Quality’

SARGODHA, Sep 27 (APP):Punjab Food Authority Sargodha on Wednesday organized an awareness seminar on ‘Food Safety and Quality’ at Comprehensive private School Sargodha.
The awareness seminar was conducted by Punjab Food Authority Sargodha
Training School and Nutrition Section with the coordination of School Health
and Nutrition Supervisor.
The aim of seminar was to inform the school students about importance
of a healthy diet and the basic principles for the preservation of substandard
food.
In the seminar, students enriched their knowledge through various questions
and answers.
PFA Deputy Director Operations Muhammad Shahbaz Sarwar thanked the
school administration for its support.
The trend of such awareness and information seminars on behalf of the
school management was considered proud and the efforts of Punjab
Food Authority were appreciated.
Later, the nutrition section also took the basic tests of students.

FAO assistance sought for capacity building of agriculture experts

ISLAMABAD, Sep 27 (APP):Caretaker Minister for National Food Security and Research Dr Kausar Abdulla Malik Wednesday sought support from Food and Agriculture Organization (FOA) to enhance assistance in capacity building of Pakistani experts in the field of agriculture, livestock, and fisheries.
Ms Florence Rolle, a Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Pakistan called on Dr. Kausar Abdulla Malik and discussed matters relating to agriculture development.
Dr Kausar Malik while welcoming Ms. Florence Rolle highlighted the longstanding partnership between the Government of Pakistan and the FAO of the United Nations and appreciated its assistance in ensuring food security and agriculture production in the country.
He said that the prevailing collaboration between FAO and Pakistan to end hunger and achieve sustainable agriculture yield is very satisfactory.
He emphasized the importance of agriculture and the role of FAO in bolstering the agriculture sector of the country.
He said that FAO may provide training opportunities specifically for the staff of the Ministry of National Food Security & Research and provincial governments to understand the wider concepts of food security.
He also sought support on bringing improvement in the beef sector as well as in the Food & Mouth Disease (FMD) management strategy.

Speaking on the occasion Ms. Florence Rolle shared FAO’s ongoing commitment to work with the Government of Pakistan, at national as well as provincial levels, to provide technical and policy support.
She also expressed a resolve to bring innovation, transformation, and digitization to the agriculture sector and the food systems, and to reduce malnutrition.
She offered to support the Ministry of National Food Security & Research in restructuring the ministry to bring it in line with modern international standards for better service delivery in the agriculture sector.
She agreed to support the Ministry in improving the yield of soybeans in the country to meet growing indigenous needs.
She informed that FAO is already working in FMD and very soon strategies will be shared with the Ministry of National Food Security & Research for implementation.

Ranipur incident was very serious says Nilofer Bukhtiar

SUKKUR, Sep 27 (APP):Minister of State, Chairperson of the National Commission on Status of Women, Nilofer Bakhtiar has said Ranipur incident was very serious and the entire nation was ashamed of such an incident.
A ten-year-old Fatima, a domestic maid, was tortured to death at the haveli of Pir Asad Shah, who was arrested in the case meanwhile his wife Hina Shah, surrendered to the police on the last day.
Addressing the Press Conference along with activist of Social Development Sector, Ayesha Dharejo at Sukkur Press Club on Wednesday, she said all accused in this case should be strictly punished under the law so that such incidents do not happen in the future.
The Minister said that there are two effective ways to prevent the incidents that happened to innocent girls, one is that the accused does not have bail and the case reaches a logical end.
 The demands of justice should be fulfilled and secondly, quality education should be common in every area, she said and added that she visited the village of Fatima Furiro, where there are no basic facilities in the school compared to other provinces, the infrastructure and education system in Sindh is poor.
Answering the queries, Nilofar Bakhtiar said that the performance of the Khairpur police is not satisfactory adding that still laptop of the accused has not been decoded and the police officers themselves are providing a mobile phone facility to the accused.
She stated that justice and protection would be provided to Fatima Furriro’s family at any cost.
