ISLAMABAD, Oct 5 (APP): Minister for Religious Affairs and
Interfaith Harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousaf Wednesday lauded the role of Ulema in maintaining peace and harmony, besides promoting tolerance in the society.
Addressing a conference titled Muharramul Haram Peace
Conference organized by Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC), the religious minister said that such conferences help understand view point of various segments of society besides promoting tolerance in the society.
The conference was attended by Ulema of various schools of
thoughts here at local hotel. The Minister for Religious Affairs was the chief guest on the occasion.
He said the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith
Harmony has already devised a code of ethics and efforts are underway to implement it with the help of Ulema.
He said government also established Ullema Wa Mashaikh Council with the mandate to promote interfaith harmony and implement the code of ethics in the country.
He said the government wanted to promote tolerance in the society for enduring peace.
Congratulating PUC for organizing the event, he said that
today’s conference was a milestone and such conferences need of the hour.
Talking about Imran Khan, he said Imran should have attended the Joint Session of the Parliament as it was summoned to discuss Kashmir issue.
He also lauded Prime Minister for highlighting Kashmir cause
in the United Nations General Assembly in his speech.
Earlier, Central Chairman PUC Maulana Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi
speaking on the occasion, welcomed the Ulema and Religious scholars of different schools of thoughts in the conference.
He said that PUC wanted to promote unity and brotherhood in the country by organizing such conferences.
He criticized PTI Chairman Imran Khan for not attending Joint
Session of the Parliament.
Addressing the conference Ulema of various schools of thoughts warned India to refrain from any adventure and said that entire nation was ready to defend their country against any aggression.
The conference strongly condemned Indian forces atrocities in occupied Kashmir.
The conference also criticized legislation in USA against
Saudi Arabia.
The conference issued a code of ethics for maintaining
peace and promoting unity during the month of Muharamul Haram.
