TASHKENT, Aug 04 (UzA/APP) : On the occasion of the People’s Friendship Day, an international conference titled “Strengthening Nationwide Unity – A Key Pillar in the Development of New Uzbekistan” was organized at the initiative of the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Ties with Foreign Countries of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The event was attended by representatives of government bodies and public organizations, national cultural centers, friendship societies, associations of compatriots, and international organizations.
Director of the SCO Center for Public Diplomacy in Uzbekistan, Kobiljon Sobirov, delivered a report titled “Interethnic Friendship and Public Diplomacy – A Key to Sustainable Development”. In his speech, he emphasized that strengthening mutual trust among peoples, respect for the culture, history, and values of other nations, ensuring social unity, preserving confidence, and reinforcing justice and solidarity are among the fundamental principles of any healthy state.
He also highlighted the role of public diplomacy in fostering friendship and harmony among representatives of different nationalities, as well as the practical measures undertaken by the Center in the field of cultural and humanitarian cooperation aimed at promoting an atmosphere of interethnic and interfaith tolerance.
During the conference, participants discussed a range of pressing issues. In particular, proposals and initiatives were put forward to ensure interethnic harmony in the country, support the activities of national cultural centers and friendship societies, strengthen ties with compatriots abroad, and enhance the country’s image on the international stage. The importance of implementing programs aimed at broadly promoting the values of tolerance and friendship among youth was also emphasized.
