FAISALABAD, Jul 22 (APP):The Department of Information and Culture, Punjab Council of Arts, Faisalabad, distributed cheques under the writers welfare fund.
Deputy Commissioner Cap (R) Nadeem Nasir distributed cheques among poets and writers.
Syeda Mona Faiz was given a cheque for Rs 40,000, Zia Shahid and Riaz Qadir Tabassum Rs30,000 each.
The Deputy Commissioner termed the initiative of the Punjab government a positive step for the promotion of knowledge and literature. He said that writers and poets are the voice of the conscience of the nation, whom the Punjab government has appreciated through the writer welfare fund.
